There isn't a man named Prince Edward here in Hong Kong, but a place. This architecture is just one of the sights I enjoy seeing as I walk down the road to Prince Edward. Mary Knoll is a British-inspired school.
And of course, the Catholic Church, St. Theresa is just next to this school. This is where I usually offer my prayers, but I feel guilty about not visiting it recently. The photo below was taken last Christmas as you can tell from the decorations outside of the church.
Back when I was still new here, Prince Edward was the place where I spend most of my time during holidays as it is just a more or less twenty-minute walk from our city. Walking just to get there is the best exercise and the view along the way is another attraction.
Just like me, people here like visiting the place because of these three street markets:
Flower Market
General Merchandise Market
Pet Market
The place may be small in area but has managed to fit into these three markets that are some of the tourist attractions in Hong Kong.
The first place that I would come across is the flower market and I have shared this in the Market Friday Community. This is the most visited flower market, especially during Chinese New Year, and other special events as all varieties of flowers that Chinese people like can be found here. Orchids, succulents, bonsai, potted plants, bouquets of various types, and others are here perfect for different kinds of occasions.
The colorful flowers and different fragrances are calming as I inhaled those aromatic scents. They are like heaven-sent and the place seems to be filled with different perfumes. One would definitely not get tired walking around, and perhaps would want to stay longer in this market.
I always want to buy some if only I am allowed to put a vase of flowers in my room. Unfortunately, not.
General Merchandise Street Market
Just across the pedestrian is the general merchandise street market. From the name itself you could tell what products are being sold there. It is a one-stop shop for all types of products required in daily life.
For those who are looking for affordable merchandise and personal stuff at very affordable prices, yet with good quality, this street market is perfect for them.
From clothes, shoes, bags, housewares, ladies' wares, accessories, house decorations, linens, and even fruits and other kinds of food are being sold here. It's a one-stop place for all kinds of products needed in daily life.
Some shops here are selling clothes and other imported items from Japan, Korea, and other countries. And some of my fashionable clothes are also bought here. Fair prices yet good quality.
The last market is just on the opposite street of the market above is the pet market. I love walking here are there are a lot of adorable pets here that are worth capturing.
There are goldfish, cute rabbits, cats, dogs, and even reptiles and amphibians. Fish inside the aquarium and those individually packed are some of the attractions on this market. Buyers can easily choose the pet they want to purchase.
Of course, accessories and food for pets are sold here too. Not just for pets, different restaurants, tea shops, and cafes are also lining other streets.
So these are the reasons why I like visiting Prince Edward. There are numerous attractions along the street, and the products are reasonably priced. There are also malls in the area where buyers can purchase branded merchandise, apparel, laptops, gadgets, home furnishings, and other items.
So if you are planning to visit Hong Kong someday, you can add Prince Edward to your itinerary.
