A Childish yet Fun Game

Everybody loves playing games, especially kids.

A long time ago, I usually played outdoor games like Chinese garter, marbles or jolens, patintero, luksing baka, hide and seek, cards etc. with my cousins and childhood friends.

We often met on the street at around 8 o'clock in the morning and played until 11 o'clock or before lunchtime. Then, we played again from 2 o'clock in the afternoon until 4. Those were the times when we just enjoyed being kids. We were so playful and enjoyed different games that we learned from our elder cousins and friends.

On the other hand, we played indoor games too especially when our parents didn't allow us to play outside because of the sun's heat. So, we just played cards and made fun of the losers' faces by putting in coal or face powder.haha

But as time went by. We all changed. We rarely have a chance to get together and played together because some of our friends transferred to another province while the others transferred to another school. Everything changed. That change made us strangers to each other. We even too shy to say hi to each other.

Furthermore, we were already growing up with different likes. But there was still the time when I and some of my cousins still played some of the games we did when we were kids. We still played patintero and piko even some of us were already in College. That time, we didn't think about what school levels and ages we had already. All we knew was, we still young and still able to play those games.

But one day, when we were playing patintero on the street, two girls passed by and saw us playing. Since the street is for public use, we stopped for a while and watched until they surpassed us. However, my cousin heard one of the girls whispered "they are so childish" but they said it in the Ilocano dialect. That statement made us pissed and wanted us to grab that girl's hair. haha. But as usual, we didn't do that and just continue playing for we believed that we were not too old and still allowed to play games on the street. Besides, there's no age limit for that as long as we enjoyed it and no one hurt.

These are just a part of my childhood. I grew up playing different outdoor and indoor games with my childhood friends and my cousins because mobile phones were not yet so common for we don't have enough budget to buy one and smartphones were too expensive before unlike now that we can easily buy one for a cheap price. But I can say, that those games made our childhood so fun and exciting.

Fast forward.......

Saturday night, I finally played card games again but this time not with my cousins of childhood friends but with my sister and mother. Playing cards is one of my favorite childhood games because it is very fun and exciting because you can use some tricks to win.

Two years ago, I found out other cards that are fun to play too. I learned those card games from my co-workers so I bought my own cards. I decided to offer them to my mother and sister because I was too lazy to play Tong-its and I wanted to play something new. The mechanics of the games were explained and understood.

First, we played "Spot It". This card game is good for 7 years old but adults can play this too. This game is good for memory and can improve attentiveness because the cards have different images that needed to name while dropping the cards. This card game is very fun because all players need to drop all their cards while naming the images. The faster you are the more chances to win.

Second, we played "UNO". This is another fun game because the first who dropped all his cards will be the winner too. Though this game has totally different mechanics, it is not so hard to follow. It is just quite confusing at first but later on, you will get used to it.

We enjoyed the whole night playing. We played like kids and did not think about the noise we made because the houses of our neighbors are in front of our house. So, in other words, our house is at the back and very near to the rice field. We played until we felt drowsy and sleepy.

As an adult, playing cards are already quite childish but it is a perfect way to forget our problems and enjoy our free time with our loved ones nd friends. Besides, this helps us to reminiscence how happy and fun our childhood was. This is the game that I maybe will not stop playing even when I am getting older because this is our way to relax and remember and feel how to be kids again.

SO, how about you? What are the games that you used to be played and still sometimes play until now? Share it in the comment box below.πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š

Have a nice day!

I want to buy UNO and naalala ko na nakikisawsaw ako sa laro na yon nung grade nine ako. Wala, gusto ko lang bumili. Meron kaya yon sa shopee? Wala naisipan ko lang bumili para may malaro kami if ever na walang kuryente or may celebration kung saan nandoon kami magpipinsan pero di ko pa siya ganong kaalam. By the way, good article po

I want to try that first game you played, hindi ko po sya kilala pero mukhang exciting. πŸ˜…

I love Uno. Had many great nights with family playing this game which is essentially a more commercial form of Last Card. Either way it's such a brilliant game.
