Growing up HIV was the major life threatening virus we had in most parts of the world, we were very cautious of the things we do at home and school.
Using someone else cutleries was prohibited, we can't share blades or any other sharp object that can pierce through the skin but it never ceased us from moving around as Covid19 did. As a kid, I never knew the difference between positive and negative. I always believed that positive is good while negative is bad, am I wrong?
I didn't know it had a different meaning when used medically and it made me a laughing stock. On this particular day, I and my sibling went to spend the weekend with our family friend, I was in primary four.
Our family friend had older kids and while we were playing, someone came up with the HIV discussion and the next statement I made was "Thank God I am HIV positive" everyone went silent, the boys stepped back from me and even the seniors around looked at me with surprise. I didn't understand why so I asked and they said I shouldn't repeat what I said again but I did because I was so confident about it. Finally, the first child of our family who was in the university explained the difference and I felt stupid for bragging about my status but many understand that I was a kid.
It's been two decades now and it hurts to know that we are still struggling against a bigger virus that has claimed lives, it stopped the world at one point.
Restrictions, lockdown, loss of job, loss of properties, and loved ones became a regular thing. There is still a high increase in the numbers of infected people in some countries despite people taking the vaccine.
Inflation is hitting hard on the world, the price of goods are escalating and I saw statistics saying it would get to a time when people who the money would even find it hard to use it because of scarcity.
Insecurity is another terrible issue we are tackling, terrorism is destroying the world. We thought covid19 had stopped their operation globally but they were restrategizing, I don't know what they are achieving with killing and destroying properties. Their impact on the world economy has been disastrous, removing their impact would have made things a lot easier.
The issue of bad governance is a general problem, it is just higher in some countries than the others.
These corrupt politicians have succeeded in transferring their evil concept from generation to generation and this will make it difficult for us to eradicate corruption.
Amidst all the challenges, it is amazing to see how we still have a positive mindset towards making ourselves great.
We are fighters, we are warriors, we do not give up on our dreams.
I once said in an article that it would be quicker to change the world for good if we all strive individually because people sometimes feel relaxed when working in groups and it is happening. A lot of people are been positive with their dreams and ideas, they keep bringing all of that into reality and that means they are bringing positivity into the world.
Every morning when I see people trooping out to go make some money to impact themselves and their families, I feel very hopeful and I have the urge that there is still some piece of humanity left among us. I see people on different platforms bringing opportunities to others, they want to see everyone become successful since they can't cater for everyone.
It means that a lot of people still have a positive mindset and are taking positive action to make good products out of the positive thoughts in them. We don't have to have Covid19 before we can be tested positive, as long as we are striving to become better than we are yesterday then we have the positive traits of success in us and nothing should stop us from shooting our shots until we hit the target (success).
If things are not going as planned now, don't give up. It is impossible to have a success trait and not have challenges, it will come but we have what it takes to overcome.
Stay positive always.
