Have you succeeded or failed as a parent?

What was the first thing that came to your mind when you saw the title?

I will want you to read through this article before saying yes or no, the truth hurt and can be very bitter. Too bitter to swallow but it must be said and it is left for whoever cares to learn from this.

Parenting is one of the difficult roles/tasks in the world but the good thing is that no one compulsory it for anyone we feel it is a must for us and many people get into it to commit blunders that have ruined the future of their children before he or she gets there.

There is a huge difference between being able to handle a relationship and becoming a parent, because you have a smooth relationship doesn't mean you will be a good father or mother. A lot is happening around the world, it is sad to see that crazy things are becoming normal in the world and the kids involved in these messes can't be blamed because they learn from the adults.

Recently, I saw a video of a celebrity and her son. She was recording a video while walking and the son came to tap her buttock, she started laughing and said to the boy. Do you want to ruin my xmillion naira buttock?

I was shocked, what has she encouraged the child to do. I won't be surprised if the boy does the same to his classmate or even his teacher at school since his mother gave him a cheer for doing that.

We mistake rubbish for pampering a child, it is then you hear some parent say that he or she is just a kid. There is no kid out there, you might regret it if you don't rebuke them right away because they feel like it is okay to do so. Indulging those terrible acts is something else, the outcome for those children ends up disastrous.

Rebuking doesn't have to come with torture, just making the child understand that the act was bad and never to repeat such should work.

In another video, I saw a little boy gulping down beer among adults and no one seems to be bothered one even had to courage to record and share the video online.

I wonder when all these things started becoming things parents are proud of, kids go on twerking in videos and their parents don't see the reason to stop them.

Training a child doesn't have anything to do with how wealthy you are because many parents believe that providing for their kid's needs is all that is required of them as a parent, where you do put morals?

Wealth can buy expensive clothes, toys, and give a child the best education but can't buy morals, it has to be taught and you have failed as a parent if you refuse to pay attention to your children's moral life. Who do you expect to be responsible for their moral life if not you as a parent?

The sex tape of a young girl leaked online, her mother claimed that she is thirteen if I am not mistaken. I was very interested in the story but thinking about it all over again makes me angry.

The mother claimed she was raped but the video said the other way round because she did the act willingly and we later got to know that truth or dare game led to the dirty act she got involved in.

The absence of morals is what I saw in the girl because a child with good morals would involve in such acts all in the name of a game, I haven't tried that game before because it doesn't make sense to me. I know it doesn't end well in most cases so as an adult why would I even want to be part of it.

We have belittled the impact of morals and the repercussion is what we are seeing out there today among children. Is it up to a year since a boy was killed by fellow boarding school students?

The case has been swept under the carpet, if those kids had good morals - would they have bullied the innocent boy to the point of killing him. We sometimes hide under the umbrella of peer pressure when those kids involve in those terrible acts instead of calling a spade a spade, a child with good morals would be hard to crack. Some parents even go online to defend that child instead of making them realize that they are wrong, so what is expected of such a child that has been pampered after committing an atrocity.

Immoralities are growing and getting out of hand, and you have failed as a parent if you have played a role in supporting it whether from your child or not.

Most of these kids' access to the internet is where their life gets messed up but what are you doing as a parent to correct that? This is a topic for another day but what exactly are you doing as parents?

Have you ever asked yourself what kind of future we are building for generations to come? This doesn't necessarily have to be about your kids alone, remember that the world is watching.

Have you been to Tiktok lately? It is one app that I will spank a child for using but parents are so addicted to it that they let their children have access to it.

Parents make videos almost naked just to get attention, what do you think kids are learning from the dresses your wear, from the words you say? I said in a recent article about how magnetic a child's brain is, those dirty acts they see from you or online become normal and one day, they will want to try things out themselves.
