Happy Mother's Day - One day isn't enough...
Today is a beautiful day, I slept with the thought of wishing my mom "Happy Mothers Day" before any of my siblings will do but I failed to wake up over the night to do so and they all beat me to it.
I can imagine the smile on her face while reading those messages, she must be happy to have stood by us when it mattered most in life. Mothers are unique and the finest of God's creation, I always insist on that because he gave them a 100% replica of his heart and that's why they are the most loving and caring people on earth. I don't want to share the sad memories I had growing up, how my mom didn't allow us to feel the absence of my dad. She made a lot of sacrifices which is something mothers are known for doing, most times motherhood requires you to give up on a lot of things.
A lot of mothers have given up on their dreams, enduring the pain and discomfort during pregnancy is not a joke, now imagine what going to the labor room means, raising the child is another stress on its own. The word "mother" is unique for me, I cherish them so much whether we are related or not. I have always believed that mothers need to be pampered because they wouldn't hesitate to do anything just to make their child/children happy in life.
If are very observant, the same attribute you will see in mothers (human) is the same among animals. There was a particular day a hen fought a hulk and I was shocked, the hulk wanted to pick her chick so the hen hid the babies and attacked the hulk as it was approaching, it was that day I knew hen could fly high to a certain level.
Mothers are beautiful, selfless, brave, protective, intelligent, supportive, loving, caring, they don't discriminate, and intelligent. They bring this rare form of happiness and energy, their love is irreplaceable. My mom is my first teacher just like every mother, she is still my number one teacher to date because she hasn't stopped teaching me. She still teaches me life valuable lessons because she guides her children from experience.
At my age, she still calls me almost every 12 hours, and my colleague then does make jest of me. It's not just me, she does that to all her kids. I once told her to reduce how calls me because I wasn't a kid anymore and she honored my request, I had to call her when I didn't see her call. I regret I said so, I felt the absence of the love she usually shower on me even through the phone.
Mothers are the bond that holds every home together, they have an extra-large heart filled with love and that's why they can shower so much love on their husbands and children.
When we were younger, a stepchild had issues with her stepfather. The man insisted that her mother return her to the father, it was a serious problem that day. I was probably 12, the girl is younger and my mom couldn't stand the way she was been treated. I didn't know what discussion my mom had with her mother that day but I remembered that the girl moved to our house that night.
She was with us for a few weeks before the issue was resolved and the girl returned home, she wouldn't hesitate to come to say hello when passing by and she became a friend of the family, we are all boys and had a pretty girl at home was exciting.
I didn't understand what it means then, it was years later that I understood what mothers love means. No mother would be able to overlook even someone else child that needs help, they will always give their best to support every child because they have a big heart.
A day is not enough to celebrate our mothers, they deserve to be celebrated every day. Today a lot of youths only celebrate their parents for public recognition, I fear what has become of the world. Just like a mother is genuine, they deserve to be loved back genuinely as well.
It saddens me to know that despite how amazing they are, many of them are exposed to domestic violence in their marriage. They were created strong but not for violence, their strength is channeled into a love that's why I call men who abuse them a weakling. A strong man would channel his strength into loving and caring for her as well, they deserve it. Children who have abandoned their mothers are making a grave mistake as well, I pray you don't know what it feels like to be abandoned by someone you gave all your love for.
I once shared the story of an old woman who was abandoned because someone told her children that she was a witch, I was emotional the first day I enter her apartment. It looked scattered and almost empty, it was dark, and I had to get a bulb first.
I called the attention of the church around to her condition and they immediately swung into action, they should never be abandoned no matter what or who we think they are.
To everyone reading this, your celebration isn't complete if all you did was make a post online saying "Happy Mothers Day" without telling them personally. Let's make our mothers feel loved and happy not just today but every day of their lives, there is a happiness that comes with it.
I am sending a huge love to every mother on the platform and around the world, I pray to the Almighty God you will all live long to eat the fruit of their labor.
