A lesson from my dad...
I was engaging on the platform at noon when I got a WhatsApp notification, the notification came as a surprise. It was my dad, I hurriedly went to check the message because ranking our communication would be at zero level. He stays millions of miles away from me and he doesn't give time for communicating but whenever he does, I always feel good.
I didn't enjoy this fatherly affection while growing so every memory of him is precious, there are many times I envy people whose father showed them even 50% of love and affection. School days were something else, seeing other kids with their father on occasional days made me wish he was on ground to applaud his boy while receiving academic awards but life wouldn't always be perfect no matter how much we try to make it. Who knows if I might be that spoilt brat if he was always there to do everything for me, I am glad his absence made me stronger and not weaker.
Despite the distance, my dad doesn't hesitate to share some life lessons with me once in a while and this means a lot because it shows that he has me in his heart.
Today's lesson was about appreciating how far you have come in life but before I go on I would love to ask a question.
Who do you want to become in life?
Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Marc De Mesel, or any other big names around the world?
We were once at a stage in life where we only wanted to become these people, some were able to snap out of that fantasy and worked towards becoming what they were meant to be while some are still living in the dream of becoming one of these men someday.
He sent me a video and in it, I poor man was begging a rich man to show him the way to becoming like him. The rich man showed him his health conditions and the poor man wished he could help the rich man. The message in it was about appreciating yourself instead of comparing yourself with the big names or wishing for their kind of life and not praying to be someone else.
I think these things happen because we humans assume that those people are the top there are living a perfect life, I am not saying we shouldn't dream to be like them but we must understand the fact that we all have one thing or the other we are all struggling with in life.
Aside from the fact that they are rich and can afford everything money can get in the world but doesn't guarantee that they are happy some would even wish to swap their wealth for something you have and they don't possess.
Your growth and progress in life would only mean nothing to you when you fail to appreciate how far you have come in life. If you think their life is perfect, why would famous and even wealthy people decide to take their lives when they have everything in the world at their disposal?
If we know what many of them are facing, we will never wish for their kind of life. It is a blessing to understand that money is not everything in life, that alone will make you understand that you should be concerned more about some things which include your physical and mental health.
A lot of us have left our path just to walk in that of others because they are wealthy and famous unknowing to us that we were designed for a bigger purpose.
Which would you choose between being "successful" and being "rich"?
They are two different things but many of us do not see the difference, whichever you decide to choose is not a problem and if you are not finding happiness on that path, it is better to switch to the lane that brings you happiness.
The world might not see your progress and that doesn't mean you are not trying, just keep pushing hard and don't give up gifting yourself with a future filled with so much happiness and love. Remember to always commit your ways into the hands of the Almighty as well, he can't mislead you.
The time will come when people will see everything you have been going through, I pray our efforts in life will not go in vain.
It's true that being successful and rich are way too far from each other. Yes, they may be a synonym for each word but still they are different. If I got to choose from them, I'll go for both. Being successful and rich in life doesn't only means to have toooons of money but being successful to achieve our goals and achieve the kind of life that we want. Happy, contented, and full of life. And, rich? Being rich with positivity, better mindset, and all the life's aspect. 💚
