A Mother's Fight
A domestic helper is known as the one who helps another family with their home chores. Most of our compatriots choose to be a domestic helpers abroad and serve another family that they don’t know just to earn and support their own family.

I had this friend of mine who has a very close bond with her mother, her mother was a domestic helper in Lebanon and the breadwinner of their family since her father recently retired from the army. Their mother-daughter bond was unaffected by their distance. They would frequently phone each other to keep in touch with each other's lives, as well as share photos and videos on social media. Recently, we've noticed that this friend of mine, let's just call her Joy, has been behaving oddly. She always seems distracted and has these tired puffy eyes, as if she was sobbing all the time. of course, frequently ask her if she's okay and she would just shrug her shoulder and gave us these excuses that she's just having an abdominal cramp due t her monthly period.
Later we found out the truth about why she acting strangely around us, It's about her mother, they haven't been able to contact their mother for a week or two, at first, they assumed it was because she was too busy, but as time went on, they became increasingly concerned. about the situation. One night, Joy's older sister posted about their current situation on her Facebook account. They were dealing with a family issue that need financial help for their mother's therapy. Later we found out that Joy's mother was abused abroad by her boss. The worst part is she couldn't remember all the details of the things that she went through. Her medicolegal showed that she has multiple bruises on different parts of her body, wounds as well as swollen ribs. Thank heavens the agency was determined to return her to her family safely. She still required therapy since her encounter had left her physically and mentally devastated. Too sad that we couldn't be of more assistance to Joy as a friend, but we frequently chat and meet with her to help her unwind from what's going on in their family, especially now that her mother needs her more.
These challenges that God put their family into would be a lesson for every family, and I know that Joy's mom would survive this. We all have their back to support as their family friend and there are a lot who support her medication. Were praying for her faster recovery.
This story of a friend of mine not just gave us the sad realization of how humanity worsened. Despite that, it proves how every overseas Filipino worker sacrifices their life each they just to support their family. A parent's sacrifice couldn't be compared to anything in this world, it has no bound. I believe that today isn't only a day for our mother but also for our father and aunts who serves as our mother in the absence of our mom.
