Living with the society standard will make us sick, in everything we do bad or good they'll always have something to say. We must try not to seek approval with other people especially if we don't do anything that can harm others. We can only achieve these things not caring about what other people thinks about us if we stop giving a damn about it.
Our environment is one of the factors that can affect our mental growth depending on how it behaves as it can influence us, can shape us or ruin us. If we live on a toxic environment, it's not surprising that somehow it will reflect on how we behave. It might be that we absorb the toxicity, act on it or will give us traumatic experience that will kill our self esteem.
Ways To Stop Caring About Other People Opinions About Us
There are ways that can help us not to care about other people's opinions about us, we just have to know and apply it so we can focus on self growth instead of minding other people's thinking.
Practice selective hearing

In this world critisism will always be there no matter how you tried your best, there are always people who will try to dragged you down. In this case practice to have a selective hearing, only listen to constructive criticism not the distractive one. Don't listen to people who keep on criticizing you as some of them are envious, if you listen to them you'll only waste your time.
If you know how to accept constructive criticism it only means you are willing to grow instead of thinking negatively. Practice how to develop a thicker skin, because only people who have thicker skin can handle critisism.
Work out your self-esteem

People who keep seeking other people's validation are usually have low self-esteem as they cannot asses they're own actions, they are not confident enough with themselves and what they do.
Try to be true to yourself, what you want to be and why. If you know what you want, you can work on your self-esteem as you are sure about what you want and you don't need to seek an approval to other people anymore because you are confident that you are doing the right thing for yourself. Other people's thinking cannot break through if you are have a healthy self-esteem.
Decide for yourself and stand on your principle

You must decide for yourself, what values and principle you stand for, what life you wanted to create because if not the society will do it for you.
Some people likes to put others in the box , to control them so they can't see what they are capable of. They like to manipulate people who are confused with what they want to do in their lives.
Decide to write your own story, the pen is yours and not theirs.
Healing from the past traumatic experience

You must find ways to heal from past traumatic experience, keep looking back to the past will keep hurting you and will restrict you in expanding your wings as you have many doubts, confusion, fears as well as you cannot trust anyone.
It's not easy to heal from traumatic past but it's the only way for you to move forward without looking back so you'll not keep stumbling on your way. If you're having hard time to overcome your trauma you can seek professional help from psychologist or psychiatrist if your case is severe.
Fears can hold us back in growing, in moving forward, so we should overcome all of it. If we are fearless enough other people's opinions about us doesn't matter anymore as we fear no one.
Closing Thoughts
Knowing ourselves, our value and our worth will help us not to mind other people's thinking about us. Other people's thinking is not our business anymore, if we keep on minding them we will never be at peace and it will only give you doubt on yourselves.
You are you and not them, just be yourself and stop minding other people's thinking about you.
