Teaching Her The Basics!

Pandemic cause trouble to every parents now because they were the ones to teach their children on school stuff because of no face to face classes. In our country we are still in modular and online class learning, as the Covid-19 infection still rising.

Just like the old days were parents will be the one to teach and guide their children in teaching the basic learnings like writing, reading letters and numbers and the likes.

Teaching Her the basics

Rayleigh my little girl will turn four years old next month. At her age she should have been enrolled for a day care class to learn the basics and mingle with her peers but due to no face to face classes, I did not enrolled her. Why? Because I'll spend paying tuition then I'll be the one to teach her so what's the purpose?

Learning letters

Learning the letters from A-Z is already easy to her. She can now recite and recognize the letters from A-Z. She learned this when she's coming 3 years old.

Learning numbers

Ah, she's still poor in this matter. She can only count 1-20, it's because I didn't focus yet on teaching her that. When I teach her, she easily get bored learning the numbers, maybe for sure she's not into numbers and MATH is not her cup of tea in the future lol.

Learning objects

In this are she's good at it already, she can already identify names of the object and can identify animals names. She's really good at this area.

Learning the 5 senses

I was amazed that she can already recognize the five senses and it's functions. I actually didn't teach her this things, maybe she learned it from Youtube and she also analyze how this organs functions on her body.

Her version is like this,

Eyes - for sleep and see.

Nose- to smell my food when I eat.

Ears- hear sounds in my ears

Tongue- to taste my food when I eat.

Hands- to touch and hold my toys

Learning How to trace letters

I used to teach her to write her name before while holding her hands, but I ended it up as of now because she just rely on me helping her to write. So instead of teaching her how to write her name first I let her do tracing letters first to get familiarize with the strokes on writing the letters before I teach her how to write her name.

She already know how to trace all the BIG letters from A-Z after that, I let her trace from letter A again with small letters. That's what I am currently teaching her.

Learning how to draw and color

Her drawings are funny, actually she draw different object on the first photo but it cannot be seen anymore because of her coloring skills lol. I even posted this on noise.cash, actually everything she does I shared it on noise. She can't draw perfectly yet but she can draw a little I think, she just need to cultivate her interest on it.

Bought her additional learning materials

When I had my grocery last time I bought new set of learning materials, these are the tracing letters, added crayons, water colors, and drawing book.

She wrote letters on her own style

She can actually write letters just by watching the letters on the illustration I bought her last time, just that she doesn't wrote it on a paper with lines and mixed all the letters. She did not used pencil as well instead she used crayons and write it on her drawing book. I didn't teach her that because what I was teaching is to trace letters first.

I don't pressure her when it comes to learnings

If other parents are pressuring their child to learn right away, I don't do that to her. She's a smart kid, she can learn easily if she wants to but if I keep pressuring her I'll in up getting mad and she'll not learn anything at all.

When she's tired already I'll let her rest and let her watch her favorite YouTube videos to enjoy.

She's still young anyway, but I'll make sure that she'll learn how to write her name before she turns 5 years old and let her count more numbers as this stuffs is kinda hard to teach her.

On the next days and months I'll focus on teaching her, so she'll learn more.

I just have to extend my patience because she's too lazy in writing 🤦

Closing Thoughts

Being a mom is the hardest job, especially teaching the kids the basic in learnings and how to be a good child.

If I were to chose a task being a mom or understand complicated matters in crypto, I'll chose crypto than this but since motherhood is no turning back I just have to embrace it, learn and do my best to do my duties as a mother raising a child.

Motherhood is tiring but it's the most fulfilling task in the world, you'll be the happiest seeing your children's success in the future.

Thank you for reading!

I don't have that much patience when it comes to teaching my kids. I just let them learn from their own as well. But, I also used to buy different learning materials for them (tracing, flash cards, drawing books) which just always ended up being ignored except on the drawing book of course. They will just show interest on the first day or I would rather say on the first few hours and then they will ignore it forever specially the tracing letters thingy.

Great work and effort, there is a quick technique to learn and associate names. Write her name big and have her say it, then she will imitate that writing, place signs like chair (on a chair), door, so she is associating the words with the objects and reading is fast. My son learned to read when he was 3 years old. There are also many children's videos on youtube that give a lot of teaching.

Remember I told you that you are doing great as a mother already. You get to teach her so much and also give her more attention too. I decided against sending my daughter to school too because of the same reason. What she has known while being home always impress people when they see her.

Send my warm regards to her.

I can still clearly remember how my Mom only teaches us how to write out names and nothing more. The rest is up to us because she is busy with household chores. Even so, we still graduated with flying colors in elementary.

Ngayon always po siyang top 1 or 2 sa school nila and always nacocontest sa math contest. Nung shs sila ang pinili nya na course eh ABM and Ngayon naman na college na po siya ang kinuha nya na course e Engineering.
