The health of our Furbabies is in danger!

If you noticed, I am not active anymore. It's not because I am lazy, but because I became busy for the past few days. Our dogs are in danger, and we're worried about it. 

There is this illness in pets that is spreading around the country. And sadly, one of our sister's boyfriend's pets was infected. Of course, she is easy to infect because she just recovered from a fever and her immune system is weak. After she recovered from the fever, there were these symptoms that she showed that we were not familiar with. Because it's the very first time for us, and when I googled it, it was described as a seizure.

What is this illness? It is the canine distemper virus. It is a popular illness right now, and when you searched on TikTok, there were some videos of furparents sharing how their pets died because of this, and some of them also shared the journeys that their pets took after surviving this virus.

And according to what I researched about this virus, the survival rate of the animals when they were infected with this disease is just rare because there's no cure for it yet, and it's sad to say that the pet of my sister's boyfriend didn't belong to the pets that survived. She died after how many days of fighting this disease. We did our best to cure her. Like CoVid-19, we separate her because we have 4 big dogs and 4 puppies here. But it was sad because after the dog of my sister's boyfriend died, their other dog was infected and died too because of this disease. Even though we cleaned their house every day with disinfectant, they bought a small humidifier, and we disinfected ourselves so that they wouldn't get infected with the virus, there's still a chance that they will get infected by this virus.

It is also very dangerous to go to the vet because, like I said, this virus can also spread to all pets. That's why the vet didn't let their dogs stay and be confined because they were worried about the other pets being infected too. 

Now, what should you do so that your pets won't get infected with this virus?

Clean their environment

One of the most important things that you should do is clean your pet's environment every day.

It is very important to clean your house and/or pet area because we don't know where the other people in your house go or who they interact with. When you clean the areas, you should use disinfectant for pets. You can buy one on Shopee, Lazada, or TikTok. It is not good for dogs to smell the strong disinfectant that we are always using as humans.

It is also important to disinfect the pet area to remove the dirt and odor from their urine and poop.

Disinfectant spray is also important, as we need to kill the smell from the outside and use humidifiers every day if your room is closed and every night if it's only closed at night. As for us, we are in an open area, so we can't use the humidifier that they bought every day.

Preparing their meals

It is important to serve them a healthy meal every day. Before, we used to give them food that was the same as what we ate. But it is not good for their health, so we are very careful about what we serve them now. 

Watching on TikTok helped us decide what we would give them. Actually, we know what we will give to them already, but due to the lack of money, we can't give it to them. However, now that their lives are in danger, we need to give them what they need—proper pet food.

These are the foods that I always give them. As you can see in the image above, there are the following:

• Boiled chicken

• cabagge

• boiled feeds

• goat milk, and

• moringa powder

These are the foods that I always mix and serve to them. I heard that moringa and goat milk powder are good for the immune systems of our furbabies. So they bought one. It's a good thing that they also liked it, so this is what we always put and mixed on their food every day.

To make sure that they are protected from the virus, we also found the medicine that the vet told us to give them, which is the Immunol Syrup for Pets for boosting the immune system of our fur babies, and we would give them the other vitamin after 15 minutes, which is the LC-Vit vitamins.

Always clean your furbabies

And more importantly, to complete taking care of them, we gave them a bath once a week, and even if they go outside for a short walk, we bought some little kits for cleaning them every night. It is also important to clean them after going outside so that the dirt will be removed from their feet and fur.

Conclusion...

These are some of the basic steps that we always take to take care of the health of our fur babies. Right now, we are still sad after the two dogs of my sister's boyfriend died due to this virus. To be honest, we are still worried because it is not safe right now for pets. 

And I hope these things that I mentioned above will help you take care of your fur babies.
