Note: Food topic might not be for everyone, the title tells read on your won risk. No hate or anything, thank you...
Could you imagine yourself eating bugs and those flies that were trapped in the night lights? Could you swallow the food if you knew it was made by insects? In the larger sense, they are not poison nor disgusting for they are now the new superfood for the future.
The biggest problem from around the world is the food stage. Scientists analyzed that in the next few years we will face the hunger for food resources will be diminished and we only be relying upon synthetic proteins nor carbohydrates. As for now we already consuming more processed food what else could we expect in the following years.
Not a giving alarming message but do you remember what was happened to the swine industry when the African swine fever strikes the Philippines? That they culled and even forced the small grower to kill those animals who were tested positive in the said strain of livestock virus.
We are relying upon the meat producers for our protein consumptions such as meat, eggs and milk. As the earth becomes more advanced and farming becomes undervalued what do you think will happen if most small farmers will quit their backyard livestock? The thing will be chaos.
People will be forced to have the competition too in food, those who could afford the natural protein will be consumed but the lower people who cant will be forced to consume a synthetic and processed well. Do you want to be that way in the future?.
The scientist had been researching this solution a long time ago, a lot of explication had been introduced and one of them is eating insects or bugs.
It's not new as native people had consumed this for a long time now. Even some countries had been offering scorpions, dragonflies and even crouches as food. In the nearly future we will really be consuming food from different insects.
In drugs, we take for a cure some of the main ingredients were really come from insects and this was pulverized so they had really got the potential to be considered a superfood in the future.
But why we must provide opportunities for entomo-food?
First, they are cheaper than other forms of farming. A protein source that is bovine and swine was so needed larger confinement and more on intensive labour, considering the price of feeding commercial feeds was too much.
Secondly, insects need a minimal amount of water. A cow and buffalo need a large amount of water at their calf to maturity. As the world also facing the problem of water losses and water consumption deficiencies, so are we going to sacrifice our daily dose of water for them to feed us?.
Third, they are prolific. Meaning they could multiply in a very short period of time. In farming, we need a nice breed of animals and either stud and mother to give a decent structure of animals body fats. They need breeding and good practice to do so.
In insect bug farming, some insects are two gendered organisms or they could multiple on their own. One insect could produce hundred or thousand of eggs that will continue the cycle. In animal farming, it's too difficult to control for we need to select the proper breed between the male and female breeder.
Besides, you are consuming insect products a long time ago. We are fans of putting honey into our food, which was the product of bee culture. So what was the difference between eating them?.
Is Insect farming was inhumane? Insects are only lived for a couple of days or weeks. That’s the cycle they have already been producing eggs and expected to die. They had a short life cycle unlike any other form of animal.
Eating insects is edible that was the factor yet some disgust and unlike the kind of food. But are we going to be choosy if the food shortage problem is too much? Are we going just to be fed by processed goods?.
Longevity is one of the factors they considered, people who spend much time eating processed goods could have a limited time cycle. That is why some Asian countries had been legalized the entomo-food as their source of protein, you could see them being featured in documentaries or blogs of famous people, trying bizarre dishes from an insect.
The insect is not just a protein source for they had more fibre and some medicinal properties among all the edible insects.
What I am promoting and integrating is insect farming. Only those labelled as edible and to be cultured could be a farm in a four-sided compartment. Reminds that not all insects are edible and some are protected for they are being listed becomes instinct.
This might give you an idea of what will be the future food. And this won't just be ordinary food for it's been considered as a superfood.
Could you consume insects? Tell me why or why not, thanks for reading…
