You and I, We're Not Alone

There are times in our lives when everything just don't go according to how we want it. It's like all these hardships and tough trials just piled up on us, and there seems to be no way to stand up again.

It feels worse when we cannot feel any helping hand at all, those people are suddenly nowhere to be found right at the time when we need them. Those people we expect to share the burden with us, or even just listen to our lamentations, are suddenly out of the scene.

It is so difficult trying to be strong, enduring all these overwhelming burdens alone, because we think we'd just be disappointed when we try to ask for help. But we attempt to survive each day, not really sure if we should feel thankful or not, because everyday is like a living hell anyway. It's exhausting to pretend like we are superheroes that do not have limits. Brothers, and sisters, we get tired, too. We get sick of life, too. And there were times we often wonder, what's the sense of living if I'd just experience all this hardest things, anyway? Am I just put here so the destiny could make fun of me, while witnessing me tortured every day?

You maybe undergoing some tough time right now. And you've doing your best to just bear with it everyday. I don't know if you've been crying every night before you sleep. Or if you have multiple thoughts of just ending it all, in an unthinkable way. You may feel like the world is against you. Everything you do is always brought down by fate. You always fail. You always get rejected. No one is on your side.

Here is what I want to tell you. You are not alone. It maybe so hard and impossible to believe, but it is real. I know, you might raise your eyebrow right now that I seem to spit ridiculous stuff, but please trust me this time.

I am not telling you to "cheer up, and just don't let these problems bother you". This forced positivity does not work sometimes, and can even seem stupid at some point. Why? Problems are problems. They are called as that, because their purpose is to bother us. To make us worry every night and day, to prevent us from being happy. Even if we try to remove a chunk of our brain (this is the stupidest thing I said today), we will always think of our problems. Not being bothered by problems can also indicate escaping from it. Solving dilemmas starts from knowing it and its root cause. We don't just shove it to the back of our heads and just expect it to fade on its own. We always gotta do something. And cheer up? Yeah, maybe, but lemme tell you, it's better when we cry it out. Sometimes, just letting all those anxiety, and frustrations out does an amazing thing already. So, you can smile even when you don't feel like doing it, as science says it can lift your mood a bit; however, cry when you feel like crying. Don't bottle it up inside. It may ruin you someday.

I want to share something I learned about our Sunday Service today. I find this Bible verse remarkable and is actually the inspiration of this Sunday Article.

Deuteronomy 31:8

In the eight verse of Deuteronomy Chapter 8, God said something. He will be with us. He always was. I hope this verse would be reminded to you always, especially when you are having a hard time. Or, you may just be planning on starting something but the odds seem to be against it. You are probably finding courage to fix something wrong into something right, but the fear is stronger as of the moment. Well, here is what God told you, us.

  • He will lead us. God will go before us. He is an all-knowing God who is bigger than all the tempests we are facing right now. He is stronger than all battles combined in the world. He is the strongest out there, the beginning and the end. And this God I just described, just said He will lead us. What more should we worry about? Let us let God direct our lives, our decisions, and even our plans. If He is in control, we don't need to worry much about things because He knows and wants the best for us.

  • God will be with us. He will accompany us, as He always did. From our smallest achievements to the biggest milestones, God is always behind. We just forget and sometimes ignore it. You can gradually stop thinking you're alone now. Get that Bible, and have some devotional time to know what God wants to tell you. Go to your room, and pray sincerely. You don't have to filter your feelings. Let it all out. Trust me. You will feel the most comforting embrace ever. If you just believe. Close those eyes, don't hold back those tears, share all your complaints to the Lord, everything, everyone that hurt you. And if you don't know what to say, it's okay. God knows what you feel inside.

He knows us more than we know ourselves. I admit there are times I just cry while praying and tell God that I don't really know what exactly makes me feel miserable. He understands it. I promise. He knows, and He loves you so much. Try what I said. When everybody's asleep, or when you are alone, get some time and talk to Him. You'll feel the greatest peace ever. You can't see God, but you'll feel his comfort, his embrace that tells you,

"I understand, my child. I know you're hurt. Why did it take you this long to tell it to me? You know I am always here. I am just waiting for you to open up. I am happy that you chose to not reject my love. Here now, just rest your head on me. Let me hug you and wipe those tears away."

I am telling this because it works. It always does. I have done this a few times and I always feel better after. It's like those burdens just don't feel that heavy anymore. Because God is about to work on my life. He holds my hands and shares this burden with me.

  • God will not fail us. There maybe some instances when even the closest people in our lives disappoint us. We have our hearts broken many times for those broken promises, unmet expectations, and words that they did not match with actions. But with God, we can find assurance. He said that His promises are like His laws to Himself, so He always fulfill those. Why bother expect from people who may always break their promises, when we can rely to a powerful, all-knowing God that is faithful to His promise? Nothing is impossible with Him.

  • God will never forsake us. Never. If there would be times that we may feel He is far, it's most probably because of our own doing. When God holds us in His hands, He does not throw us away. It is us who choose to jump and distance ourselves from Him. Because it's honestly hard to live under His will. Obedience is a challenge to us humans who are gifted with free will. So, we tend to stray away from God because we don't want to subject to His instructions. Little did we know, all His blueprint for us is for own good.

Let me say this again. God will not forsake us. He loves us so much because we are His children. When we come to think of it, He has all the power to just wipe out the existence of His creation and just create a new world, but He has always given us a chance to repent and turn from our wicked ways. And He is always willing to accept us despite our dark past, as long as we have faith in His ability to renew our lives, and obey His ways.

Do Not Fear, Do Not Dismay

We have God with us. The one who created everything into existence, the one who holds the world in His hands. Nothing is impossible with Him, and this God is our Father who loves us in a way that cannot be compared to any kind of love in this world.

When we have Him alongside us, there is no reason to fear those battles. There is no need to worry anymore about those overwhelming struggles, because God is definitely bigger and stronger than any negativities in this world. We just have to open our hearts to Him. To start believing in His power, and submitting to His will. When we start to do these things, we are a step closer to a better, brighter life.

I have also learned that God did not promise us a life full of rainbows and blessings, like when we pray for a house and car, these would just be dropped from above. No, it is not like that. If that's the case, would we even bother serving Him? We can just get what we want anyway, right?

God allows us to experience hardships, to remind us that we need Him. We can't do this on our own, but we have God that is always willing to fight the battle for us. He is our home, our refuge, and our Father who loves us dearly. I remember this worship song we sang earlier in the church. The lyrics went like this:

"Way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness..

Our God, that is who You are.."

Happy Sunday!

I hope you'd consider keeping our Bible verse today, and remember it whenever you feel alone. Don't forget to pray before you sleep. Another workweek is about to start, and I hope we'll all start it with a fully-charged spirit. Our spiritual outlet is God.
