The History of my KathNiel Fan Girling Life

I'm a KathNiel Fan girl, the love team of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. Although I'm not as active and as vocal as before when I'm still in High School, I still consider myself a KathNiel fan.

Why do you love and support them, you might ask?

Well, we can't deny that they are really the best and biggest artists of their generations bagging so many awards and having blockbuster films. But more than the "Kilig" I get from them whenever I watch their movies, primetime dramas, and even just by watching their vlogs, I just find them so inspiring, especially that I've witnessed them grow in their individual careers.

I admire both Kath and DJ for being family-oriented and for being so humble that despite how big and successful they are in their crafts, they keep their feet on the ground and they never let the success they have get into their heads. They also always care for their fans and always remind them that if not for them, they wouldn't be where they are today.

I started being a fan of KathNiel when I was in Grade 6, when I watched an episode of the Sunday afternoon teen drama series called Growing Up that was aired on ABS-CBN where Kath and DJ had a scene together. It was starred by Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Montes, Daniel Padilla, Diego Loyzaga, Neil Coleta, Kiray Celis, and other teen artists. I got hooked with the series and so I watched it every afternoon with my cousin in their house.

After that, KathNiel was given a break to star in a primetime series on the network called the Princess and I, where Kathryn is a Princess and Daniel is a commoner. Although I was already a fan of KathNiel back then, during the run of the series, I was really hoping for Mikay (Kath) and Jao (Enrique) as the end game, which they said was also supposed to be the ending of the series. However, because of the power of KathNiel fans that dominated the Twitter world, they became a game changer.

From one Primetime series to another, KathNiel also starred in Got to Believe, and this is when I became an avid fan, when I was already in Grade 8.

I remember every day, I would talk to my friend and chitchat with her about the scenes that we watched in Got to Believe the night before, and even sang the Joaquin's song out loud. We would do that every weekday. Our other classmates would also joke around asking why do we have to talk about what we have just watched as if we didn't watch the same episode.

And when I was already in Grade 9, I recall I got to create a KathNiel Fans Text Clan back then and I became the founder where I was able to meet other KathNiel fans from all over the Philippines through text and added them on Facebook. The clan had more than 50 members and it was active for quite some time until I was already in Grade 10. But I also had to end the text clan because some were inactive already.

Being so addicted to KathNiel, I printed their photos, cut out and collected their pictures from the magazines, and posted them on my bedroom wall. And I still have the pictures with me until today.

And when I was in Grade 10, I also joined Official Fan Clubs (KaDreamer's World), joined Twitter parties to make the hashtag trend, became a keyboard warrior in defending KathNiel from all the bashers criticizing Daniel and Kathryn for not being good singers and actor and actress.

I got to watch Daniel Padilla play basketball at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena when I was still in Grade 11. That was the first time I got to see him in person and I remember we even went to the airport just to wait for him and other Star Magic artists to arrive in Laoag City. Because of that Basketball game, I also got to meet other fans from Ilocos Norte. That was the first and last time I got to see him in person tho and I'm still looking forward to that time where I will see him with Kath again.

It was the year 2016 when Kath and Daniel campaigned for political candidates (Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo) running in the National Election. That was their harshest era because a lot of people bashed them for campaigning for the two politicians. And as a loyal KathNiel fan that I was, I joined the other fans in defending the two until the election was over. That time, I also experienced having someone send death threats to me on Messenger because of defending KathNiel on Facebook. She was also from Ilocos Norte and when I told her I will make a complaint in the Police Station in their municipality, she said sorry. Lols!

Their movie Barcelona: A Love Untold was the first movie that I got to watch inside the cinema, together with my friends when we were still in Grade 11. This is also one of the reasons why it is one of my top favorite movies of KathNiel, aside from its story and the beautiful location, Barcelona, Spain. And the second movie I got to watch inside the cinema was The Hows of Us, which also made me want to visit Amsterdam.

I also like other celebrities and am a fan of them too, but KathNiel is the only loveteam that I supported with all my heart and I will support them individually and as a loveteam until the end.
