Times have changed, Priorities have changed
What do you "want" most in life?
Well, you will get distinct and surprising answers to this question if you ask people; Whether those people are of the same group(same age, religion or country) or different. There are chances that people living in the same house(even the same room) may have distinct demands as everyone thinks differently.
The most common answers to this question would be
1. money(lots of money)
2. luxurious life.
Some may also say Love( this category might already have the above-stated perks); These, along with many others, are the popular answers you might get from people.
And when you ask another question
What do you "need" most in life?
Most likely, they would give you the same answers as in the above question without even noticing the difference.
Why? Because we have confused both the terms need and want.
Before moving on let me explain both the terms briefly.
Need, according to the definition, is something that we require for living.
While Want on the other hand is something that we desire( to make our life better) but we don't require it for keeping us alive.
Now that we are done with definitions let's start our discussion;
A few years back, the main objective of everything we had done was "need". But now, the priorities have changed. Even if we are getting what we "need", we want more, and we keep struggling for it. And that doesn't end here; Once we have achieved what we wanted the most, we start striving for more and more, and eventually, it turns into an infinite loop(keeps on repeating).
With that being said, I did not mean that wanting something or struggling for something better is wrong.
In fact, Want is one of the foremost factors we require for achieving something, because, if we don't have a desire for something how are we going to get it?
Moving on further, Law of Attraction is also all about desiring and wanting.
Speaking of Law of Attraction, It states that positive thinking results in positive outcomes while negative thinking have negative results. In simple words, It's kind of "you get what you wish for" story. Means that, if you want good results, have positive thoughts in your mind(In other words, keep desiring for it).
So from the above discussion we can safely say that wanting or desiring for better in good for you. But, wanting more and more without even being thankful for what you have that's what causes problems.
Now if you take a look at our world, you will see that there are 2 kinds of people who are continuously struggling in life.
Those who are not even getting their basic needs met.
Those who have everything they need but are struggling for more.
Again, The purpose of this article is not killing the desire for better; It is a desireable trait. Trying to get better is the only thing that keeps motivating you. Because once you lose the desire for betterment and just settle down on one spot. You lose the whole adventure, the fun, the joy and most importantly the whole purpose of your life.
Conclusion:
Learn to differentiate between necessity and luxury. Be grateful for what you have instead of crying over what you don't.
And, of course keep trying for the better but don't let this motivation overpower you. In short, Be moderate.
So, friends, here it comes to an end.
