Work from home will be implemented again

As the prices of gasoline rose in recent weeks, the alarming rate of minimum fare rate increased too. It was inevitable for some workers who used cars, motorcycles and any vehicle t o fear the price of gasoline. Since the pandemic, we noticed that every goods and gasoline prices soar high and it affected all of our lives. I am just sad about this because most of the drivers cannot get the right and enough income for their family.

I watched the news yesterday that some jeepney drivers stopped working because the gasoline they consumed was almost the same as the income they got. Meaning, it was barely enough to feed their families, and I heard that most of them just got around ₱200-400 per day. This amount of money is not enough to buy all the necessities at home. I will not break down the good prices because even though I was stressed, the ₱2500 budget for food in 2 weeks is not enough anymore. So, how much are these jeepney drivers right? The poor people become poorer gradually.

On the other hand, those employees who travel to go to their work cries out for the high fare of the buses and jeepneys. They cannot avoid it since the drivers have no choice, but to increase the fare. The fare hikes affected not only the employee but also the salary that will be left. I am so sad because what is wrong in this world right now? Back when I was young, I didn't care for these things, but now I am a young adult. My worries and fear for the community and economy is increasing. You know, it's really better sometimes that you don't know things so that you will not be affected.

However, I am happy to announce that Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian and Sen. Grace Poe was calling for the immediate implementation of the Republic Act No. 11165 or Telecommuting Act. This act stated that employees can be allowed to work at home through computer technology. The worker who will be joining the said work from home setup will be undergoing the telecommuting program. So what is telecommuting program and how it will help the issue of employees who are stressed because of these insane fare hikes.

Let me define telecommuting so that you will understand how it works. Telecommuting refers to work from an alternative workplace with the use of telecommunications and/or computer technologies. Meaning, this employee should have any technological devices at home that will be provided by the company like computer or laptop. Next, a telecommuting program is something an employer in the private sector may offer to its employee and they should settle the terms and conditions before the employee starts.

Why will this Republic Act be implemented?

This is very important because the employee who seeks work from home setup will be granted to them. As you all know, some of the fuel prices have now reached ₱100 per liter. If this law is implemented strictly, then many people can save a lot of money from their work allowance. Right now, I know many companies are starting to organize and plan if ever it will be approved. This kind of flexible work is what we need right now. Especially, if you can really provide the same quality of work result at the office and at home. It will be a big help for our finances.

If you are worried about the salary and benefits. This law will cover the exact same thing and do not change anything so you are guaranteed. Like, compensable work hours minimum, number of work hours, overtime, rest days and entitlement of leave benefits. Your employer will instruct you for the data and security protection ensuring that you have a safe working environment. Can you imagine if the work from home setup will be continued? Such a great and better effect in our lives.

For additional information, the telecommuting act was approved on December 20,2018 by the former president Rodrigo Duterte. Now, if this telecommuting act will be implemented, the question is will you volunteer to undergo the telecommuting program? I know some of you will say yes because of the perks and benefits it will have for you. And others are not because perhaps their workplace is just near their house. Whatever your answer is, the most important thing is that you are not unemployed.

Well, left to me, I prefer the idea of working from home, as it help save one the transport fare, and as well give the freedom while working.

Nicely developed content, with informative point shared.

Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

While this is a best move to help certain workers, maybe it is still best if legislators would temporarily suspend the tax imposed on gasoline products. I think this will help on bringing the price down and helping not only several individuals but also everyone.

Kaso ayaw nila since yun daw ay private information na within the company lang.

It's a good move and matagal na ring iniimplement ito even before pandemic. It still depends on the type of business and kung mas makakabuti sa company na mag implement.

Oo nga po. Kung mga call center or computer based pwedeng pwede pero kung hind naman computer, workplace talaga dapat.

Maganda yunt concept no? Hays.

As a response aside from that proposal the local government actually launched "libre sakay"

There are some public transpo paid by the govt for this.

It's a good thing somehow because it's more convenient and comfortable.

Mas okay nga yan for the employees but kawawa talaga mga drivers eh, sobrang apektado sila kahit sabihin natin na itaas pasahe, I think it's still not enough. Dapat talaga makahanap ng solutions about sa patuloy na oil price hike or di man, kahit konting subsidy man lang front he drivers 🥺

Work from home will be a Good thing and more comfortable if ever get implemented again

It's not like working from home is always a good experience but more likely for peace of mind and comfort i believe government are doing Good for people.

Right. It's actually a good thing when implemented, but of course there are lots of distractions at home.

Honestly, I don't know much about telecommunication. But I think working from home is quite convenient and you will be able to do other things even while you're working. I've never worked from home though but I guess it is better than working in an office

There are advantages and disadvantages of working at home depends on your situation. But, I guess there are more benefits.

$ 0.00

This will definitely benefit yung employees, however the lesser people na magcocommute mas lalong walang kikitain ang mga drivers. Sana may alternative na napropose sa nga jeepney drivers.

$ 0.00

$ 0.00

Telecommuting works for those who are office workers. How about the jeepney drivers you discussed in the first part? I hope the government would get to the bottom of this problem and find a concrete solution for this problem.

$ 0.00
2 years ago

I am sorry for that ate. I don't have any idea what will be the government's intention for the drivers.

$ 0.00

That's a good move from the senators. However, is this law will also help jeepney drivers? — who lives as a regular person and not technology literate (no offense, I'm not criticizing) — it is sad that the drivers are now suffering and can't work in this kind of situation.

I hope the government will also focus on them. But again, that RA is also a good one imo.

$ 0.00
2 years ago

I don't think it's applicable for drivers bro. That is actually my question too when I read the news and the whole coverage of the law. The senators intention was only for the employees, not the drivers.

We know that drivers earned less because of fuels price hikes and the fare fees are barely enough to cover it all.

Working from home is a scam even though it's convenient and comfortable but it's more stressful than it sounds. You tend to work more longer hours and because they know you are "home" they dump any kind of work on you at any time because they feel you are "home". It's convenient though and I like it but it's more stressful in terms of the amount of work done.

$ 0.00
2 years ago

That's the disadvantage of work from home. They will think that you can finish it fast and will dump as many as workloads possible. Ugh! Have you experienced it bro?

$ 0.00

Hahaha exactly. Of course, I experienced it for many months.

Tsk.

Grabe na talaga kaya it's better na work from home lang muna.
