What Happened to my 2021 Goals?
Every year, I always make sure to set a goal that I need to aim for the entire year. For sure, I am not the only one who does this. I know that you do this too!
For this article, I am going to review whether I achieved my goals or I failed.
Last 2021, I set goals for myself in four different categories mainly personal, academic, finance, and side hustle.
MY 2021 GOALS REVIEW
PERSONAL
1. Do a physical activity more often
Failed. I am one of those people who set a goal every single year that they will consistently workout to get some abs. Hahahaha. But until now, I always failed at this and my abs are absent. 🤣
In 2021, I just workout often times and I didn't do it consistently. But I will still keep on trying my best to incorporate this in my daily habits.
2. Be more creative by making my own bujo themes the rest of the year
Failed. I do bullet journaling (bujo) for around 3 years already and I challenged myself in 2021 that I should make my own themes for the entire 12 months instead of copying bujo themes on YouTube. Especially from Amanda Rach Lee cause I really love how she creates bujo themes.
Suddenly, I only created 4 themes from January until April, 2021. Because I used an undated planner for the month of May and the following months.
What I realized though in having a planner, is that planners are not for me. (Sorry to planner users out there.) I like journal the best because I can customized it in ways that I wanted it to be.
So yeah, I failed at this because I switched to a planner. But I guess if I continue with bullet journals, I will be able to achieve this goal and create all the monthly themes by myself.
Nasayangan lang talaga ako siguro na hindi gamitin yung binili kong planner. Haha. But at least now I know that planner is really not suited for me.
3. Practice mindful eating
Failed. I mostly remembered so many unhealthy eating habits that I have done in 2021. Sometimes I think the reason why I did those are because of my stress in school works. In short, I experienced stress eating. Huhu.
This is still in my 2022 goals though. And I hope by this year, I will make it happen.
One of my ways to practice mindful eating this 2022 is switching my daily coffee from 3-in-1 (cream, sugar, coffee) to just pure black coffee. No added sugar, no cream, and whatnots. I already know this long ago that black coffee is a healthy and great option. I practiced drinking it back then, but I went back to 3-in-1 again. Hahaha. But in December, I started to try black coffee again as my daily morning coffee and until now I have been pretty consistent with it. It tastes better for me as time goes by. I got to appreciate the bitterness as time passed by. It's actually perfect with a sweet dessert.
I am curious though. What do you guys prefer, 3-in-1, black coffee, latte or other kinds of coffee? 🤔
4. Donate clothes on non-profit organization/s
Failed. I was supposed to do this in our NSTP subject but my professor didn't allow me to for certain reasons. I was very excited with this already but my project proposal was rejected. 😞 We have many unused clothes here that are still wearable and in good conditions so I really want to donate.
Last December also, a friend of mine asked me if I have something to donate that are kids clothing and I said yes. I packed the clothes in the box ready to be donated. She said that she'll pick it up here in our house but later on, she apologized that she wasn't able to pick up the clothes because their vehicle needs a repair. I said that it's fine. I can't do anything about it anyway.
I just wish that I will still got to do this goal this 2022.
ACADEMIC
For context, I am currently a 2nd year architecture student.
1. Enroll and finish 1st year 2nd semester
Achieved! What I mostly remember in this semester was that in our Visual Technology 2 subject, we need to do a watercolor painting almost every week. I am not that good with watercolor renderings but I am so proud of myself that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and I am honestly kinda proud of myself for my watercolor paintings/drawings. That's the most memorable thing for me in this semester.
So glad that I was done with it! I had fun.
2. Enroll and finish 2nd year 1st semester
Achieved! This has been the toughest semester for me so far. We were overload with architectural plates and school works. That's why I am really grateful that I survived this semester last December. I haven't seen my grades yet in my student portal but I hope that it will be all good marks. I hope that I won't receive line of 3 mark, only line of 1 and 2. 🙏
3. Invest in myself by building knowledge and skills through giving my best in every activities
Failed and Achieved. I have some activities where I know that I did my best and I also had a lot of other activities that I just did my bare minimum. Mema pasa lang kumbaga. Especially with our recent semester, I would say that maybe half of my school works I only exerted my bare minimum efforts because I was feeling so stressed and overwhelmed with the piled up tasks. I also felt anxious cause I had so many what ifs in my mind but my biggest what if that time was "what if I won't be able to pass this on time and I will receive an INC or bagsak grade?" Just by thinking that I am going to have an INC and low grades on my academic card makes me feel so bad. I don't wanna receive those marks because I thought to myself na hindi ako pwede maka-receive ng ganoon na marks kasi pinapaaral ako ng maayos ng parents ko, they support my studies financially and emotionally. Yung iba nga dyan diba hirap na hirap makapag-aral dahil walang matibay na support system, yung iba walang chance na makapag-aral. Tapos ako na may chance and all, ibabalewala ko lang? That thought has been one of my motivation to keep on pushing myself to do well in school works. I guess this has been also one of the reasons ever since why I am somehow grade conscious.
But yeah, I will still try to do my best for the next school works to build my knowledge and skills.
4. Invest in a laptop
Failed. I was supposed to buy one last December but I kept on putting this goal off.
For the past years, I have only been borrowing laptop of my brother and my mom, currently, I am using my mom's laptop.
My real target is to purchase my own laptop before face to face classes started and before 3rd year college. I moved this goal to my 2022 goals instead.
FINANCE
1. Save more than what I spend each month
Achieved. Well, it's 9 out of 12 result. I overspent with 3 months in July, August, and November. But for me, it still means that I succeeded with this goal that I set up for myself. I do promise that I will do better this 2022 with my spending habits.
2. Invest a total of P2,000 on Equity Fund
Achieved!
3. Invest P1,000 at MP2 for the month of May or onwards
Achieved! I invested way more amount than I expected around February or March because I had such a good income from my online business at the month of February. Hooray!
4. Complete a low-buy/no-buy month challenge
Achieved on February! February was my most abundant month in 2021. I challenged to myself to not buy anything as much as possible and I succeeded. I also earned the most in this month through my online business. February was the month that I saved the most.
5. End the year with P50,000 / $1,000 net worth
Achieved! I even went beyond my target net worth so I am really happy and grateful. One of the reasons why I did this is because of this platform, read.cash and noise.cash. So a huge thank you to everyone who has been part of my BCH journey.
SIDE HUSTLE
1. Reach 500 followers on Instagram @chambepremium
Failed.
2. Continue selling premium apps/accounts and ebooks
Achieved.
3. Have 400+ sold premium accounts, ebooks, etc.
Achieved.
That's a wrap for my 2021 goals review. In conclusion, I didn't do great in my personal goals. However, it seems like I did well in other categories such as my academic, finance, and side hustle. So all in all, I think it was still a pretty great result and I am proud of myself.
How about you? Have you already reviewed your 2021 goals whether you achieved them or not? Whatever the result may be, let's still keep on trying to take an action to aim them. We'll just be shocked one day on how far we've come.
Thanks for reading and until the next blog. ❤️
