Technology had progressed to a new level of sophistication. We live in a century where everyone uses phones, including toddlers. Funny but that is a proven fact.
People use technology in a variety of ways because it can make their jobs easier and faster. While some people utilize technology for beneficial and useful purposes in their employment, others use it to harm the reputations of others.
Technologies is not my real topic, but since it’s connected and related to it, I just made some introductions before I introduced you to my real topic, the “DeepFake” App.
What is Deepfake Porn Videos?
A deepfake is a video that's been cleverly manipulated to replace the person in the video with someone else, in most cases, a celebrity or politician. They are usually incredibly realistic and can be hard to spot as fake. Tom Cruise was a recent victim in what was billed by the media as 'the most realistic yet'. US congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has also been subject to AI, which seemed to 'show' her in a bikini.
The most troubling element of the deepfake is that it's leading to very high rates of non-consensual deepfake porn – primarily targeting women. In fact, in 2020, a deepfake monitoring firm Sensity discovered the messaging app Telegram had been used as a platform to release thousands of non-consensual nude images of women – and in some cases, underage girls.

One of the features of this filter is that it allows user to replace someone else’s face on a video with their own faces by using Artificial Intelligence (AI)
This, on the other hand, could be a more sophisticated sort of deep faking.
This app is a trend in various social media platforms. I am also, almost caught up and believed a video that I watched recently, because it looks realistic.

Original vs. DeepFake
It looks realistic isn’t it? This is the power of social media. It can manipulate you and could ruin someone else’s.
Of course, It is fun at first but what if some people that hated you secretly will use your photos in DeepFake with pornographic content.
Protect Yourself from DeepFake
1. DO NOT upload your picture’s publicly or any unprotected social medias that anyone can easily access in to. More specifically the HACKERS.
2. Keep your technological devices as well as your social media accounts and emails as secure as possible.
3. When uploading photos of yourself to public sites for some (important) reasons; (school purpose, company purposes, others…) ALWAYS BE CAREFUL.
4. Avoid letting in unrelated people to your OFFICIAL ACCOUNT. (untrusted people, strangers, scammers)
5. Spread Awareness to people, especially your Families, Friends and people care, about the RISK of uploading photographs in unprotected sites.
Closing Thoughts
The purpose of this topic is to bring awareness to the people who doesn’t have an idea that this App exist. And yes, it can ruin people’s lives.
There are people that steal pictures and turn them into pørnstars, which could totally ruin people’s reputations because it really look realistic and can manipulate you by making you think it was real.
