Hola, dear people of Read.cash! I wish this week to be wonderful and very productive for you.
A couple of days ago, I was telling you about my visit to Parque del Este. And I invited you to join me on a virtual walk through the park. If you haven't read it, I invite you not to miss it and go and see the picture of the Jaguar. But today, I'm going to tell you about the place I went to after the park. When leaving the park, we were hot and hungry. And my son's friend, knowing how much he likes rock, suggested we go to a place called Perrock. She hit the mark with her suggestion.
If I ever decided to have a Food and Drinks place, it would be like the place we visit. The place is located in the backyard of a house. It had good food, rock, and a cool atmosphere.
Just entering, you get a first impression of what you are going to find. Many rock star posters were hanging on the walls.
And yesterday, I read @ARTicLEE blog Mariah Carey in Baler, Aurora. And he ended his post by asking about our favorite artist. I told him I would write an article about a place. And that I would include some of my favorites songs in the post. I won't talk about a single artist, but I will make references to some of those in the posters of this place that are among my favorites. Music is food for our souls. And these songs are classics that will live on forever. And I will also talk about the food, of course. I always talk about food, hehe.
Although many of these singers had been in the music world for years when I began to listen to them, they became some of my favorites and still are today. So as I write this, I put my headphones on to listen to some of the songs that came to my mind as soon as I entered the place.
As I walked into the place, I saw in the entrance wall the image of David Bowie. And Space Oddity, the story of Major Tom, started playing in my mind. Major Tom became one of Bowie's characters. But my favorite of Bowie is Life on Mars. One of Bowie's most famous pieces. And the one for he created the character of Ziggy Stardust to play it. Do you remember Ziggy Stardust? Live on Mars is supposed to be a Bowie sort of parody of the famous song My Way performed by Frank Sinatra. This is also one of my favorite songs, even though it has nothing to do with this place. If you are curious, you can read more about the history of Life on Mars song here.
On the wall, it was also a picture poster of Bob Dylan, one of the greatest. Who is the only singer and songwriter being recognized with the Nobel Prize of Literature.
"For having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."
And my favorite song of Dylan is not other than Like a Rolling Stone.
And talking about the Rolling Stones. In the place, there are a lot of references to Mick Jagger. When I was younger, I didn't use to listen to the Rolling Stones so much. But my favorite songs from them are You Canβt Always Get What You Want and Sympathy For The Devil. And I would have loved to go to the massive concert that the Rollings Stones did in Cuba in 2016, Havana Moon. The massive free concert that the Stones gave for 500 thousand spectators, the largest ever held in Cuba. There is a documentary film about the concert, and the trailer can be seen here.
When we got to the place, it was noon. They were opening the place, so it was empty. But that allowed me to take all the photos I wanted. Thanks to the kindness of the owner.
Poster of vintage photographs and concerts of the main Rock bands also cover the walls of the patio where most of the tables are. Among them is a U2 concert poster. And if there's one song that can instantly brighten my day, it's Beautiful Day.
The food of the place is mainly hot dogs. They also offer chicken wings with different types of sauces and fries. So we ordered some chicken wings with a light spiced barbecue sauce. And here is some Food Porn for you.
And we also had our portion of fries with cheddar cheese and bacon.
The place also has many references to The Beatles. And it couldn't be otherwise. I love most of The Beatles' songs. But to share some with you today, I'm going with Here Comes the Sun and A Hard day's night.
One of the posters caught my attention the most, and that the owner took me to where they had it hung. It was this of John Lennon and Yoko Ono grabbing hot dogs at a street stall in NYC.
The hot dogs of the place have names of rock stars, and even a couple of them refers to local groups. For example, if a Venezuelan reader around my age passes by here, maybe he will smile like me, knowing that there is one with the name Cayayo in honor of the singer of a local rock band of the 80s called Sentimiento Muerto. The Hot Dog I ate had the name Caramelos for the local band Caramelos de Cianuro.
In a corner, they had a mural of Kurt Cobain. Although I'm not a big fan of Nirvana, my son is. He asked me to include here my favorite Nirvana song, which is All Apologies.
They have popsicle ice creams, as you can see in front of the Cobain mural. And of course, we have one for dessert. Mine was Coco filled with chocolate mousse, but I owe you the photo.
Also, a poster of a Led Zepellin concert was there. And how not to include Stairways to Heaven among these all-time favorites.
And last but not least, my favorite of all times Queen. Freddie Mercury was the best. I love all the songs. And it is that who doesn't like the masterpiece Bohemian Rhapsody. If you like Queen and haven't seen the movie, do yourself a favor and watch it right now. And if you don't like it very much, I recommend you watch it too.;) Take a look at the trailer here.
Queen is maybe, the rock band I've listened to the most in my life. Some of my favorites songs of the band are Don't Stop Me Now, Somebody To Love, and We Are the Champions. And Love Of My Life, the song that Freddie Mercury wrote for Mary Austin. Who was his wife at the beginning of his career. And who even after their separation, continued to maintain a close relationship with the singer throughout his life.
The place seemed great to me. And I would like to visit it again. But next time, I'll try to go at night. And we will include my husband, who has been left with the desire because he wasn't with us when we went. If anyone is here or life brings you to visit Caracas one day, Perrock is on Av. Principal de La Castellana.
Disclaimer: I'm not related to this place. And I haven't been paid to write this article. It's just some notes based on my experience visiting the place. And some Rock, which by the way I enjoyed very much.
To all my dear readers and wonderful sponsors, thank you so much!
