Kahlen called out, as she kept searching through various pathways. Peter had been missing for hours and was still unfound. He didn't leave any message behind as to where he was headed to, or rather still come a little earlier so they didn't have to worry.

Here they were, still looking for him and it was almost dusk.

Kahlen, Cara, and Fred continued the search for the days that followed. They couldn't even think of losing their best swordsman, family, and friend in this shitty mission. They have been on this mission for months now, looking for an ancient wooden box, which their ancestors had died in the process of saving it from getting into the hands of Munroe's great grandfather. The box, according to ancient history, is said to contain certain powers., And whoever opens it first, would be filled with those powers and would become immortal, and undefeatable by anyone or anything, and would be able to control the world. Now, they were on a quest to retrieve the box from a certain cave, before Munroe lay's hands on it.

All four have to be in good spirit till they reach their last cross junction before the final battle to take the box to safety. So they had to do everything in their power to find Peter.

"What do you want from me? Peter asked. He was tied to a broad table, hands, and legs towards the east and west direction. The man in question, drew closer to him in the dark, with face masked till the finish.

"I want nothing much for you" the man retorted, as he kept walking closer with a globe in his hands, which emitted light. He went to Peter's right-sided brain and put it very close to it. There was a great emission and infusion of light as it caused Peter to give off a loud scream.

Ahh!!

Kahlen and the other two never kept searching since it's been 5days and still nothing of Peter was heard. Just then, she could see a make figure that looked so much like Peter's.

"Peter? Is that you?

She asked as she kept drawing closer. Cara and Fred were also alarmed by this and drew closer.

Just then, Peter came into sight, looking pale and unhealthy. They took him into their camp and made him lay close to the fire they had made to keep warm. They asked him what happened that he went missing for days, and to their dismay, he could say nothing. They felt something was wrong, but still, theft attributed it to fear of just being recovered.

They kept walking and then a small village came into sight. Kiv was a small village with mere villagers eating and feeding on their produce since 98% of them were all farmers.

Two days in the village, Kiv started recording the deaths of their villagers, and some of them wounding massively. An emergence investigation was carried out, with kahlen as the lead investigator, since she was made a prosecutor because of the powers of discernment she had.

The investigation process began getting tough, and the villagers have come to the conclusion that the killer would be burnt at the stake. Seeing things were tough, Peter decided to confide in kahlen. He explained he was the killer, and he had sneaked out to her place two nights back and had gotten into a fight with her since she discovered his presence at her place. She has scratched him with her nails at his neck before he stabbed her in return, and that is how she died. He said pointing to the area on his neck he was scratched. But kahlen could see nothing.

She discussed his confindings with Cara and Fred, and what she felt about the whole thing. To her, Peter may have killed the woman but she didn't see any scar at all on his neck. And from the way things turned out, the scar was indeed a deep one. How come it wasn't visible to him.

There was another man, who was campaigning for the prosecution of the killers, whom kahlen was in deep suspicion of.

She decided to let Cara and Fred know, and he was being monitored.

Another case was brought up about theft, and another man was brought as a victim. He confessed all that happened and how he has gone to her farm and collected her produce.

"He must be hanged on the stake" the suspicious man by the name of Greg had told kahlen and other village officials.

He went into the village and assembled men that set up the stake on which Peter and the other man would be burnt.

While he left, Cara got to see this particular scar on Greg's neck.

"Kahlen, did you say about a scar that late woman gave her killer? Cara asked. And kahlen answered in the affirmative.

"I just saw that man Greg, with the exact scar as mentioned by Peter. I think he is the killer"

Kahlen moved out and had to go see about the scar herself. And indeed it fitted the description Peter has earlier given.

They proceeded to hang Peter and the other man at the stake since they didn't have to prove enough to concur to what Cara and kahlen had found out., And just then a woman had come into sight shouting and pointing at Greg., "That is the man that killed my sister"

This all proved khalen and Cara wanted, and just immediately Greg had tried to cut the rope in order to foster the killing of Peter and the other man faster. But good thing Fred was close by and he stopped him.

They fought till Greg's surrender. They captured him, took him into the inn, and got him interrogated. He was too had to tell the truth, and kahlen had to use her discerning powers to get the truth to the limelight.

It happened that Greg was responsible for the death of the late woman, the theft, and other times too. What he did was simple., After committing his evil deed, he would get someone and use his 'instrument' and he called it, take away their memory and infuse the memory of all the evil acts he did and everything that transpired. And the person would own up to the crime he didn't do for his sake., Remembering all Greg did, but thinking he/she did it.

Such evil! Kahlen lamented.

"Can I see this instrument of yours? She asked.

" Yes you can"

He went and brought a globe. He explained he would put this next to his right-sided brain after an evil act is done. And by so doing, all the memories of all that transpired would be saved in the globe. And when he gets his human prey, he would put this globe next to his brain and his own memory would replace theirs, and they would own up to his crimes.

This was exactly what he did to Peter and the other man.

And they would have nearly paid up for crimes they knew nothing about. Their memories were wiped off and they dwelt on the memories of another.

Good thing the late woman's sister had seen him. Probably, the Innocents would have died and the guilty left living freely and committing more crimes.

The globe was seized from him and kept hiding in a safe hideout no one would ever acess again., And Greg paid dearly for it., Via stake hanging.
