My Morning At The School of My Kids
Blog #255
May 24, 2022
Today's morning is not the same as the usual morning that I had. I woke up at 5 and began to do the morning routines that I needed to do like cooking rice while doing other things. I was so occupied with those important things that I forgot to watch the time. As I checked my phone, I was shocked to see that it was almost 8 in the morning and I haven't bathed Adam yet. He didn't have his breakfast too so I double time. I bathe him and let them eat their breakfast while I fix myself too.
This was the viand that I had this morning because this was the fastest food to be cooked. It only took more than a minute to finish my food and I checked Adam if he was ready to go. When I see that he was ready, we headed to school and that was around 9:10 in the morning. As I reached the school waiting area, my co-parents told me that we will be having our meeting after the second class. That will be at 11:30 am. Hearing the time of our meeting made me worried for my 3 kids that were left at home because I will go home late to prepare for our lunch.
Then when Adam get inside the room, one of the SGC officers told us to help carry the books out from the library because the library would be transferred to the room next to the previous library. I helped them and the tasks were done fast because we were many helping to get the books out and so too with the cabinets.
Thirty minutes after helping in the library, the meeting started. It was initiated by our beloved principal.
The agenda of the meeting was about the kindergarten's graduation. First, she talked about what the kids would wear. We, parents agreed to just let our kids wear their school uniforms to avoid more expenses. Letting the kids wear"toga" is a bit pricey this time since a toga here almost cost 1k pesos or $20. Second, she talk about the decorations and other stuff to be put on during the ceremony. I was assigned to helped to decorate the stage. The third was about the medal that will be given to the kids. Our principal clarified that there's no honor list this time so instead of a ribbon that will be used to put on the kid's uniform as a graduate, it will be a medal this time to make it special and memorable for kids. We all agreed to it because we also want it to be a day that is memorable for them.
The storytelling of madame Principal:
There was once a teacher that was assigned to teach kindergarten pupils.
1One morning, this said teacher drew grapes on the board.
Teacher: Okay students, this is "Ubas" (pointing to the grapes that she drew). In Maranao, Ubas is Bayabas. This time I can't stop laughing because as the Principal said there was one person outside the room (where that teacher taught) who overheard this kind of teaching that the teacher told her students.
*Ubas is grapes while bayabas is guava.
Another Scenario:
Wata (Kid): Di aken phekesold sa klas omie. (I don't want to go to school, mother)
Omie (Mother): Ki Inito? (Why)
Wata (Kid): Kiyabokolan aken. Lagid pitiro ki ma'am eh Tagutong (Eggplant). Kagae na pitiro iyan na warnaing so tagutong a gadong. Na sa isa ka kagae, pitiro iyan na warnaing so tagutong ah violet. So next pa man na langon a warna eh warnaing so tagutong. (I'm lazy to go to school because my teacher only teaches about eggplant. Yesterday, she told us to color the eggplant green. The other day, she let us color it violet. Maybe next time she will let us use all the colors to color the eggplant)
The kid's point of view on this is that eggplant only has violet and green so why does her teacher let them color it in a different color when it's not the appropriate color for the eggplant.
That's why the principal had told us that it's good that the teacher that will be assigned to the kindergarten pupils are those teachers that already mastered her/his profession so that the pupils will learn because if not those other teachers in the next grade levels will have a hard time teaching the students.
This will be all for today. Thanks for dropping by.

OMG! That viand looks delicious. I wish to have one now😋 The principal is truly right, only teachers that are professional in their job should be allowed to teach because the ability and enthusiasm to learn of the students rely on the type of teacher they have
