The moment I became a mother, we frequently visited the hospital for check-ups for my first born was a sickly one. The hospital was his second home.

During check-ups, I sometimes forget what am supposed to ask the doctor thats why I write on my cellphone what I needed to ask.

Another check-up drove us to the city of six-hours ride was exhausting. The pediatrician was very friendly and accomodating knowing we have came a long way. She had asked the onset, frequency, duration of the symptoms and many lot more. I was unable to tell the exact frequency so she suggested we provide a small pocket notebook to write the exact frequency of signs and symptoms and other needed information. Keeping a list of some recurrent signs and symptoms makes it easier for the doctor to assess and make a diagnosis.

I suggest that those who are having health conditions should also keep a pocket notebook to note the signs and symptoms' of your concern as it helps you to remember or something your doctor will help him in diagnosing.

In addition, asking the right questions, can also direct the doctor's decision -making. This way, your dr is obligated to address your concerns honestly and directly.

1. Childs head trauma

Who are parents here?Do you admit that not only once you were not able to avoid your toddler getting tripped, or hit his head? Toddlers are naturally unmanageable at times, they do things in a split of seconds when you take off your sight from them. Thus, resulting them to trip, hit their head or fall which is only minor one..

Injuries from falling especially at play, sports ,minor accidents, or even a child abuse can cause eye and brain damage. They show up as a range of behavior changes that can signal life-threatening problem resulting from head trauma.

Behavioral changes to observe include child not acting himself and is unusually sleepy, inattentive or agitated, take him immediately to the doctor and ask, "Could a head injury or trauma account for my child's symptoms?"

Traumatic brain injuries are a leading cause of death and disability in children and young adults. Concussions happen when the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord has been throttled. A more serious problem occurs whej there is progressive pooling of blood from a torn vessel on the surface of the brain-a medical emergency requiring surgery.

Symptom like bleeding in the eyes are visible changes that helps a doctor diagnose shaken baby syndrome and repetitive injuries from sports.

Other signs on a doctor's exam include slight weakness in the arms and legs, or abnormal pupil responses.

2. Back pain and joint pain

Back pain and joint pains are often thought of as an inevitable result of injury or getting older. But pain is usually your body's way of telling you that something is very wrong. Don't ignore it as there are life threatening diseases that mimic these aches and its important to catch them as early as possible.. Ask your doctor if you're experiencing constant pain in your back or joints, "Besides arthritis or injury, what could be causing my back pain or joint pain?"

Prostate cancer and other abdominal problems. Prostate and pancreatic cancers and kidney stones can create back pain, often with sharp knife sensation on the middle or lower back. These diagnoses are commonly missed as most people don't associate back pain with cancers or stones, so they may not mention it.

Osteoporosis. These weakening and thinning of the bones is often related, but it's now happening to younger people, too. It can lead to small fractures in the spine and other areas, causing pain.

Lupus. This chronic autoimmune disease typically appears as a dark "butterfly" rash on the face, accompanied by severe joint pain.

Swollen joints. it can be a sign of joint infection that can be lethal if not treated quickly, so don't take wait- and-see approach with swolen, aching joints.

Bone cancer. Pain can be caused by bone cancers as well as other csncers that spread to the bones. Common targets are the spine and rib cage.

Lyme disease. this condition is usually transferred by ticks. It often surfaces as joint pain, with or without a rash.

I Think I have to stop here so as not to bore you with a very long post. (min exclusive k ayeh, nable ak hi type kn paraphrase yah. min elis q mu aji kyet)

Coming soon will be on questions on stroke, severe headache, the flu, breast cancer, chest pain, abdominal pain, childbirth and macular degeneration.

Ninparang met... 😁. Yes, I believe a parent must be vigilant about what their kids are doing and feeling. We need to observe them intently also. We must not overlook them when they complain of something like they are not feeling well. I am also a mother who is at all times forgetful so l also write in a notebook the things that concern my child when I had my firstborn who also mAde the hospital her vacation house 😁

It's a benefit to have your parents to assist you most times but sometimes we don't rely on them in order to stand on our own. I really had a hard time on my part because we had to bury ourselves in debts for medications as my husband doesn't have a stable job at that time. So I need to take a close watch on my daughter so that she won't play with dirt and I easily gets mad when she did for fear she might get sick again.

same, buried in debt for meds and formula milk and staying indoors most times not to get him dirty or wet. am really grateful for my parents but my hubs never did who never knew my struggles at the hosp for he never was there. and now making me the bad one today by brain washing my son that I have done nothing and my parents, too whom he makes them bad at my kids sight which is now nagbuburibor sa utak q ngay, on how my kids will see me as their mother. getting back to the topic, we should be health-concerned and observe our kids and even our own self of any unusual feelings that arises and act upon it immediately

Agree. Don't let your hubby brainwash your kids. From time to time you need to remind them of the right things they should know. And yes we should be alert about health-concerned things.

My youngest daughter fell from the bed when she was just 4 and 8 mos. and I thank God that nothing severe happened.

My first born was hit by a stone that it was bleeding, seeing it made me indecisive person, I happened in the school and fortunately there was a nurse who treated her. I was suppose to walk her to the hospital (literally by foot) and I was not able to ask help. The nurse said that first aids are okay for you to observe symptoms, make sure that the child doesn't sleep.

opo mam, look for symptoms like the aforementioned when you think a child or anyone khit matanda na pag my head injury at d xa focus qng kinakausap o kaya natulog or loss conscious..buti at meron nurse na nagfirst aid po.. as for my daughter na nahulog sa may kanal na 3year old nung papunta kmi sa parents q for a visit, wla man lng tumulong sa amin khit nkita nung nag aayos ng linya ng kuryente ung nangyari. I was carrying my baby and I asked my son to run hurriedly to my parents house to fetch anyone who is there as their phone were all unattended.there was a deep cut on my daughter's forehead kya dinala q na sa ospital after q ifirst aid nung nkarating kmi sa bhay ng mga parents q.. its good she remained responsive at tinahi ung sugat

When my child feels something or he was acting so strange I didnt think twice to visit the doctor. But as for me when I felt something I googled it first. I search the symptoms hehe. Like when I have a UTI. I don't know that its UTI but I experiencing symptoms and find out in google that its UTI , I go to the drugstore and ask medication . But I didn't recommend this kind of thing. I am just telling my experience back then and that's reality sometimes.

lalo na pag first time mom ay nkakaparanoid ung mga konting napapansin natin sa ating junakis kaya consult agad sa doc. pero sa mga sumusunod na, d na maxado lalo na at my experience on how to handle and manage ung mga simpleng sipon at ubo. as for UTI, you can try herbal meds and dito sa amin when you like to take synthetic drugs is kelangan mo magkonsult sa dr ksi d sila bsta nagbibigay ng antibiotics sa drugstore without a dr's prescription...

Yes, I am a fiest time mom haha. Sometimes my mom said to me why I am into pediatricians. We live in the province so the herbal medicine are used when someone is sick. Like when my son has a cough, they said I need to find an oregano and steamed it πŸ˜‚ Pero dahil pasaway ako hindi ko sila sinusunod, pumupunta talaga ko sa pedia .

Thanks for sharing mam.
