Saving the Coral Reefs The coral reefs are important to our country's fishery resources. Unfortunately, we continue to destroy them. Coral reefs are sources of materials to sustain life. Hence, they must be saved. **Ways of Saving the Coral Reefs;** **Seagrass Bed Protectio**n protect the coral reefs. They reduce the movement of water. They regulate the chemical composition of coastal waters and sediments. Also, they maintain the capability of the coast to support life. Because of the importance oof seagrasses to the growth and development of Coral reefs, they have to be conserved/saved. **Controlled logging** **activities** also protect the Coral reefs it can prevent Siltation. Industrial and agricultural washes control is another way of saving coral reefs. When the coastal water is not polluted due to wastes, Coral reefs will grow. Siltation control also protects the Coral reefs. When silt covers the Coral reefs, they are deprived of oxygen and food materials and eventually die. Reforestation is another way of saving the Coral reefs. Reforestation controls Siltation. Good fishing methods do not destroy the Coral reefs. The Coral reefs are allowed to serve as breeding and nursery grounds for fish. Corals are stationary tiny sea animals living in colonies in depths not more than 45 meters. When they die, their shells remain and new corals grow above them. This process on until large buildings of corals, called coral reefs, are formed. The Coral reef is important to the country's fishery resources. It is estimated that Coral reefs yield 10 to 15 percent of the total yearly fish production of the country. Participating actively in efforts to save the Coral reefs is a timely and good practice. The efforts to save Coral reefs must be concern of all. Thanks Love lots ❤️😘 @Kris2310

Importance of Plants Plants affect the lives of humans and other organisms. Plants are the primary sources of their energy. Some plants are used for food. The plant parts which may be used as food are the leaves, stems, seeds, flowers, fruits, and roots. A plant that has an edible part or parts like the roots, stems, leaves, or flowers is called a **vegetable**. Our body has certain needs. We eat different foods to meet these needs. Nutrients which come from plants and animals are substances that are needed for our body's growth, repair of our body cells, and energy supply. Our body needs **four** main kinds of nutrients, **proteins, fats, carbohydrates and vitamins.** **Proteins** are nutrients that are needed for growth and repair of our body cells. Foods that contain protein are **fish, chicken, meat, eggs, milk, peanuts, beans, and cheese.** **Fats** are nutrients that provide our body with energy. They also help our body store vitamins. There is fat in **butter, meat, milk, and ice cream.** Carbohydrates are the nutrients which are the main sources of energy for our body. **Sugar** and **starch** are carbohydrates. Other foods rich in carbohydrates include **cereals, rice, potato, bread, noodles, fleshy fruits, pastries, and juices.** Vitamins are nutrients which help our body use proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. There are many vitamins. **Some of the vitamins are;** **Vit.A** that keeps our eyes, skin and hair healthy. Sources are butter, cheeses, egg yolk, green leafy vegetables. **Vit.D** necessary for building strong bones and teeth. Sources dairy products, fish, liver oil. **Vit.K** necessary for normal blood clothing. Sources green, leafy vegetables, liver. **Vit.B¹²** necessary for the formation of red blood cells. Sources red meat, milk, eggs, cheeses. **Vit.C** necessary for building strong bones. Sources citrus fruits, green, leafy vegetables. **Calcium** necessary for maintaining strong bones and teeth. Sources milk, cheeses, clams, oysters. **Water** is also important. Water helps our body do many things. It is a necessary part of all the cells of our body. It helps us digest food. It is part of our blood. We should drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. We also get water in soups, fruits and vegetables. Humans have been using plants for treatment of various ailments. Some of these medical plants are found in our kitchen. These are ginger, cloves, garlic, black pepper, and thyme. They are called spices. For medical herbs we have **Oregano** and **Lagundi** leaves for Cough. **Kalachuchi** and **Kulitis** leaves for Asthma **Amarillo** and **Gumamela** leaves and flowers for Abscess and Boils. **Sambong** leaves for headache due to Sinusitis **Kangkong** tops and **Malunggay** leaves for Constipation **Carrot** juice and **Olive** Oil for Hyper acidity **Tanglad** and **Makahiya** leaves for Diarrhea Plants protect themselves to survive, they have structures or characteristics that protect them from humans and other animals. Some have Thorn and woody spine, when touched carelessly, it causes sharp pain, irritation, or discomfort. Some grasses can cause Itchiness and some have sharp leaf blades capable of cutting the skin; pineapple leaves for example. Many plants grow in soil. Some plants grow in the water while others anchor their roots on other plants. There are plants also that can grow in a specific environment and adapt themselves to the natural setting for their survival. Plants that live on land are called **Terrestrial** plants or **mesophytes**. And those that live on branches or trunks of other plants are **Aerial plants** or **epiphytes**. While plants that live in the water are called **Aquatic plants or Hydrophytes.** Thanks for reading. Love lots ❤️😘 @Kris2310

Picking the Right Ham With more and more new hams flooding the market, it's harder for the simple housewife like me to pick the right ham for the family. Here's a reliable guide to find, buy , store and cook the best ham for the traditional Filipino's noche buena. "Perfect" is never natural. A so called "perfectly" shaped ham isn't really an all natural ham made of 100 percent ham meat. Look for irregular shapes (rather than a "fake" smooth shape), since these show the natural curves of a ham cut. Ditto for perfect glazing. Natural ham meat usually tastes better with an old fashioned jelly like glaze. Don't be fooled by a golden brown, even sugar glaze since these may contain chemicals to achieve the even color. If in doubt ask for a slice test. 100 percent ham meat will have a succulent texture, think of prime roast beef, with visible threads that define the meat like texture. Some new hams are rounded out with **fillers**, that will look like globs of white fat. Too smooth slices, similar to cold cuts, are also another give away that the ham is not 100 percent ham meat. Natural 100 percent ham will also have a delicate flavor and should not have a heavy barbecue sauce taste. Be wary of strong flavored hams since these mask the flavor of less than hundred percent natural ham, it should also be juicy and not crumbly. The ultimate test is the "freezer test". But by this time, it may be too late. Less than 100 percent natural ham keeps up to one week in the freezer, while 100 percent natural ham can keep up to three or four weeks, without loss of freshness, in our freezer. **Plan the ham glaze according to the theme of your Christmas noche buena**. Make up your mind to bake your Christmas ham at home, where you know the conditions are controlled. Despite the temptation to have your grocery or deli do the job for you, you will have no control over the freshness of your ham. Thaw the ham by transferring it from the freezer to the refrigerator overnight. Don't try to short cut the process by running the ham under a tap, since this will leech out of Ham's flavor. On the day of the party, score the thawed ham lightly, about one half deep, with a sharp kitchen knife along the fatty side. This will allow the sauce to soak in evenly, while adding decorative interest. Place the ham in a deep baking tray and baste with the sauce. Preheat the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for ten minutes. Pre heating makes sure that the oven is evenly hot and makes for equally even and quick cooking and glazing. Baste the ham at least 3 to 4 times during the cooking period to keep it juicy. Make sure to prepare oven proof mittens to handle the marinade spoon and ham tray. The ham should also be baked at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 to 20 minutes for fully thawed hams. When the glaze or sauce turns golden brown, the ham is ready for serving and enjoying. You can keep a properly baked ham on the buffet table without refrigeration for up to 6 to 8 hours. Hope you all like it. Shop wisely everyone... Advance Merry Christmas to All.. Love lots ❤️😘 @Kris2310

Share ko lang 😂 fb post CP. Bakit mas maganda na nakabukod kapag may asawa na. 1. Una, dapat iisang reyna at hari lang ang meron sa isang palasyo tama? Kapag nakabukod kayo either rent or sarili niyo ang bahay magkakaroon kayo ng tinatawag nating “privacy” which is very important sa mag-asawa. Like me, I’m an introvert so prefer ko talaga ang may sariling space. 3. Matututo kayo maging independent in everything. Kung ano ang ihahain mo, ano iluluto mo, paano magbudget, paano mo ayusan ang bahay, anong gamit ang bibilhin, kulay ng pintura, etc., etc. 4. You have control over your child. Paano mo palakihin at disiplinahin, ano ipapakain o kung ano yung mga bagay na gusto mo i instill sa anak mo na walang kumukontra. 5. Walang mangingialam kapag may mga problema kayo mag-asawa/partner. Walang kampihan kasi dalawa lang kayo ang adult sa bahay, no one will interfere. Kasi sa buhay mag-asawa it’s not advisable na may nangingialam, minsan maliit na problema lumalaki dahil sa sulsol ng mga tao na kasama niyo sa bahay. (This will apply only kapag mga personal problem niyong dalawa not unless na life and death na ano?, you should seek help) 6. Financially responsible . Lahat ng finances niyo kayong dalawa lang ang may say kung paano niyo gagastusin. You’ll learn how to save. Matututo din kayo kumayod dahil wala kayong aasahan na magbabayad ng bills at expenses niyo sa bahay. 7. You’ll grow as husband and wife. Mas makikilala niyo ang isa’t isa. 8. You will have your own identity as a family. Pwede mo tanggalin ang ayaw mo sa nakalakihan mo, you can make your own family traditions. 9. Less stress. Hindi ka naka- tip toe, free ka kumilos na walang mga mata na nakatingin sayo. 10. Peace of mind. That is priceless. Morning 😇😘

Know Yourself Learning to know ourself is not easy. One way, of course is to know how we use our time. And there is need to understand who we are and to learn to accept ourselves. Recognize that we have a number of roles to play. There are roles of leadership and roles of fellowship. There are roles of relationship such as father, husband or wife, or friend or sweetheart, professional/ client, supervisor/ subordinate. In addition to these major roles there are all kinds of other functional roles we are called upon to play each day. There's the role of automobile driver, the role of pedestrian, the role of supermarket shopper, and many others we could name, all of which have their own set of rules and customs. Different people have different energy levels and require different amount of time to rest and think. One person can't perform on less than eight hours sleep a night, while another manages. (miraculously) to get along on four. What one person finds emotionally draining another finds emotionally exhilarating. All of us have energy cycles. There are times when we are much more creative than the others. There are times when our spirits are "up" and times when we are down. We need to identify these times and make use of them. Some people absorb information by listening; others do much by reading. How about you, What's your style? Some people require a great deal of detailed thinking and planning before they act; other people move much more intuitively with seemingly the same results. It is important to find out who we are, to know our style. Accept ourself and our gifts and use them. God does! Have an overall style that reflects our goals. Evaluate the pressures we're under and relieve them if needed. Tired people aren't effective people. Keep our priorities straight. Eliminate those things that don't relate to our goals. Feed our strengths and starve our weaknesses. Understand those things we do well, and realize which tasks are best performed by others. Were the one person with whom we are always going to have to work. The more we know about ourself, the more effective we can become. And the more we can accept others for themselves, fine! One way of getting to know ourself is through analysis of ideal goals. On slips of paper write down some goals for what you would like to be or do, if you had your complete choice, ten years from now. Write down goals for yourself, for your family, and for your work. Now arrange them in order of importance. These goals reflect our ideal self. We may or may not like what we see. We may discover there are some things we really wish were different. We may discover things we really should be doing that we are not. Always give time to know yourself better, for your own good, for your family and for your goal. . Filing Finding things when we need them can take a lot of time. The trouble with most filing systems is that they are designed to store things rather than retrieve them. Unfortunately there is no magic retrieval system that requires very little work to maintain. In setting up a filing system, first consider the cost of not having things we want to store, and then consider how quickly we are going to have to retrieve information when we want it. Next consider why we are going to want it. Asking the questions why leads to two general answers. First, we need things at particular time.Second, we need things for a particular purpose, usually for reference. Let's first consider filing things as a function of time and then filing things for a purpose. If we are a person who does a lot of traveling, set up file folders for each trip and file the material for that trip in that folder. We can use the same process for meetings that we are going to have. If we preach or speak, set up a number of file folders labeled with topics and, as we get ideas or information, drop them into those folders. If there are standard routines that we have to do as a homemaker, such as shopping list or a things to do, put that in a folder that will come up at a certain time of the week. The most common filing done for a purpose is the filing of correspondence that we believe we are going to need for future reference. A common practice is to file letters alphabetically by the name of the person or organization originating them. This has a number difficulties associated with it. First, it forces us to set up a file folder for every individual with whom we correspond. Second, if the letter is also part of a particular project, we must make a copy and file it also under some subject heading. Third, most of us are notoriously inaccurate when it comes to filing alphabetically. Fourth, when we want a particular letter from an individual, we have to pull the entire file folder to search through it. A better practice is to file correspondence in the sequence in which it arrives. Each piece of correspondence is given a file number. The assignment of file number is logged along with the name and the persons writing and receiving the letter and a brief of the subjects involved. The correspondence is filled by number. The same log number is also recorded on a series of 3x5 cards which carry on one the name and address of the individual from whom to came and on others the subjects it treats. When the time comes to retrieve the specific document in question, if we recall who wrote it. A quick reference to the originators file will quickly disclose file numbers in sequence by the date and subject, and the document that we need may be identified and easily pulled out of the file drawer. If we recall only the approximate time of its receipt, a search of the log listing of numbers assigned at the time wild quickly identify the item by file number. Subject matter is also a means of file entry, if that is our basis of recall. The advantages of this system are first, that filing time is invested at the storage end rather than retrieval end. Second, numerical filing is much more accurate than alphabetical filing. Third, much less file space is used. Fourth, the document may be recorded under as many different headings as are thought necessary for retrieved. Fifth, eventual disposal is facilitated. Sixth, if we file sequentially, microfilming of old documents becomes very practical because they can be photographed in sequence. The cost is minimal. Good filing system can be immensely valuable. Poor ones can be pain in the neck. 😂 Thanks for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️ @Kris2310

Delegation Everyone knows that one way of saving time is to "Let Paul do it." The idea that a good manager gets things done through others have been around for a long time, but most people are not very clear as to what they can and cannot delegate: We cannot delegate our job because by definition it is our job. This implies that one needs a clear understanding of what his or her job is. We cannot delegate that which only we can do. **But there are also some things we should delegate:** We should delegate those things we can't do. Cut the expense of wasting time on something which we really don't know how to accomplish, even though delegating it may be a blow to our ego. We should delegate those things which others can do better than we can do. Delegate those things we shouldn't be doing because they are not part of our primary goals or primary tasks. All of this applies both to our business or professional situation as well as to our social and family situation. **How can we decide what is best to delegate?** First, make a list of all the different types of things we are doing. Next to this put some columns headed must do, can't do,shouldn't do. After this put a column labeled who can? Check each of the items on your list and see which of the things we're doing really should be done by someone else. **There are a number of pitfalls to delegation which should be avoided**: Make sure the one to whom we delegating knows she or he has the ball. Make sure our instructions are clear and the task is well defined Make sure we are confident that the person to whom we delegate can do the job, or if we are not certain, make sure that we are willing to let him or her fail. Make sure we've given All the needed authority as well as the responsibility. Try to put also what is wanted in the form of a goal he or she can own. What many people don't realize is that there are many levels of delegation. Delegation does not mean "go do it, and don't bother me." Many times those receiving a job full to recognize the limits of delegates that have been given to them. **There are definite levels. Example;** *Do it,and don't report back.* *Do it, and let me know what you did.* *Let me know what you intend to do, and go ahead and di it unless you hear from me.* *Investigate all the available alternatives, and make a recommendation to me as to what should be done.* *Give me all the information available, and I will make a decision.* **There are many reasons people fall to delegate and therefore fall to manage their time effectively;** They don't have clear goals, procedures,or policies and therefore they have nothing to delegate. They don't understand how to check on the subordinate to whom they want to delegate. They lack confidence in their subordinates. They have a fear they will have nothing to do if they delegate this to someone else. They believe they can do the Job better and faster themselves. They have failed to train their subordinates for major decisions. They believe that unless the person is a subordinate, delegation is usually not considered an option. In other words, it is possible to delegate sideways to one of our peers. There are also a number of reasons why we don't like to accept delegated responsibilities. **Some of these include:** *We don't trust our boss.* *We are afraid of making mistakes.* *We don't know how to do the job.* *We don't really understand what needs to be done.* *We don't see the reason for the delegation.* *We don't understand the level at which we are being asked to accept the responsibility.* *We don't think the person has a right to delegate to us. "Who does she think she is anyway, my boss?"* Delegation will not necessarily save the total amount of time involved, although the quality may improve. Delegation is primarily aimed at saving our time. Delegation assumes that the total value to the organization exceeds the cost of having someone else do it. One last point, Remember delegation is a two way street. We have no more authority than our subordinates are willing to delegate upward to us..( Think about what awhile 😊) Thank you Love lots ❤️ @Kris2310

Checklist Checklist are one of the simplest and yet most effective ways of organizing work and measuring progress. A checklist is nothing more than a chronologically arranged list of the things that need to be done to reach a goal. It does not attempt to describe how each step is to be accomplished but rather what is to be done and in what sequence. Herein lies its power and simplicity. This in turn is a trigger to make sure we know how to do it and what to do. Checklist can be quite formal, such as the ones which are designed for the preflight check of an airliner. They can be extremely simple, such as a simple problem solving checklist. Once a checklist being created to solve a problem or reach a goal, it becomes a kind of " standard plan " or standard procedure for carrying out that task. It therefore becomes very useful the next time we want to accomplish the same task. We don't necessarily have to follow the same steps we followed before, but we have a list against which we can check to see that we have considered all of the things considered the last time the task was done. We can also add items not needed before. Keeping a checklist is a way of passing along both history and experience, even as we add to, modify, or simplify the checklist for our future use. Checklist become powerful communication tools when we use them to standardize a task. Once a person is trained in the desired procedures, the checklist provides an incentive toward uniformity in future performance. In emergencies it can help the uninitiated to avoid gross errors. Next to each item on the checklist, indicate who is responsible for completing the task and the time or date the task is completed. Then as each task is accomplished, the checklist offers an effective display of the status of each task and the progress of each person responsible for completing the tasks. Checklist can be constructed for almost any kind of a plan. After they have been used over and over, they eventually become habits. A good example of this is making a shopping list in the sequence in which the items are arranged on the supermarket aisles. After a while you find that you have memorized the supermarket so well that your mind automatically remembers the items that you need as you simply walk up and down the aisles. A similar habit forming example is the checklist procedure we use in teaching someone to drive a car. The standard steps to safe driving soon become habit as they are repeated over and over. The checklist then is an aid to recall when habits are questioned. Thank you for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️

Change In recent years we have been bombarded by an ever growing range of literature pointing out the fact that we are undergoing times of tremendous change. Future shock is is getting to be an everyday phenomenon in most of our lives. Since each one of us is part of a large group, and ultimately part of the world's system, we are caught up in the continuing flux of change. It is here familiar qoutation, "Lord help me to change what I can, accept what I can't, and be wise enough to know the difference" sums it all up. When setting goals, recognize that the circumstances will change, and goals will have to be reset for the future. Goal setting is a PROCESS. When establishing an Priorities, realize that what has a high priority today may have a lower priority tomorrow. Priority setting is a Process. When making plans, we are attempting to predict the future, and the future has a way of being unpredictable. Planning is a Process. If we are continually faced with new situations, we may have difficulty adjusting to a rapid rate of change. For many it is a challenge; for others it is a real stress on their life systems. Experiments show that people who are exposed to a great deal of change new county, new home, new job, death in family, and wedding actually become ill after a certain upper limit is reached. Culture shock, which could be the result of simply moving to a new neighborhood, is a form of this phenomenon. Look for signs of too much change, and try to spread out the change producing activities to reduce the shock. When managing time resources, remember that what we spend time on at the moment reflects what we value the most at that moment. Our use of time reflects our priority of values and communicates our hierarchy of goals, including the priority we place on the value of Change. That's all. Calendars In our modern, independent society the only way we can effectively live together and move together. Unless we are blessed with an unusual memory the only way to keep track of these future commitments to one another and to ourselves is by writing them down. A calendar is a powerful tool indeed. Some people have not discovered the value of keeping different kinds of appointment books and calendars. There is great advantage in being able to picture at a glance the unit of time under consideration. Having a one page yearly calendar,a one page monthly calendar, a one page weekly calendar, and a one page daily calendar may seem unnecessary, but each has its special purpose. Yearly appointment calendars are available. Keep one on your wall. Use it to indicate such things as periods you will be out of town or blocks of time you have committed to other uses. They are very useful for showing us our future commitments at a glance and for keeping the load we are carrying in proper perspective. Monthly calendars are useful in nothing items which fall outside of our regular routines. They have the advantage of alerting us to what lies ahead, things for which perhaps we must prepare now. Monthly calendars, available both in desk style and in pocket size, are handy for both the homemaker and the executive. Weekly calendars are used mostly for desktop work to control the daily and weekly routine, but they are also available in appointment book form. They give us the kind of space we need to control the details of our day. Daily calendars, usually in the form of appointment books, are extremely useful for some people. Those calendars which also provide a place to write down a **Things to do List** and a place for a diary and a place to keep track of expenses are particularly useful for busy executives as well as busy homemakers Each of these calendars has its advantages and disadvantages depending on our needs and lifestyle. That is why many people find it effective to use two or more calendars. The daily calendars gives us plenty of rooms to write down all the details of the day, but it doesn't help us to plan ahead. At the other extreme, the yearly calendar gives us plenty of plan ahead information, but the amount of space in which to write all the things we want to do tomorrow is necessarily limited. Calendars need to be filled up. One way of not getting ourself over committed or committed to things which have nothing to do with our goals, is to fill up your calendar with things that have to do with our goal. Remember that calendars should reflects a chain is event. We seat and check our goals We make plans to accomplish those goals. We schedule future events we believe will help accomplish our plans. Therefore our calendars, our scheduling of time, most clearly reflects our goals. One closing comment...don't get calendar happy. Choose a system which works best for you. We can waste a lot of time writing down things in there or four different places. Although that may give us a sense of control, it really doesn't save much time. Thank you for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️😘 @Kris2310

Breast is Still Best Breastmilk is still best for babies. Somehow in this day and age, when so much time and research have gone into creating all these new and improved nutritional supplements and infant formulas, that statement seems arguable. Yet how come, at the end of all these new formulas and their new ingredients to make your baby brighter and stronger, there is still this little disclaimer that says Breastmilk is still best for babies? Because it is still the truth. As a mother our breastmilk is made for our baby. It was specially formulated by our body, which has been nourishing the life and encouraging the growth of that precious little bundle of joy we have been carrying for almost nine months. If our baby been born, he or she still needs to nurture and care. One of the ways we can do this is by nourishing them through the breastmilk of our body produces. Breast milk has exactly the right amount and kind of protein for our baby's growth, and it is always at the right temperature for our baby to enjoy. Especially the first milk, colostrum. It contains natural antibodies that help keep our body from getting infections, particularly those of the respiratory and intestinal system to which a newborn is especially vulnerable. Babies who aren't breastfed have higher rates of middle ear infections, pneumonia and gastroenteritis. Breastfeeding protects against immune system cancer such as hymphoma, bowel diseases such aa Crohn's disease and celiac spruc and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. There is also some evidence that breastfeeding could also help protect our baby from developing allergies in the future. Breastfeeding also helps our baby's teeth in jaw grow properly. Sucking at the breast a baby uses 60 times more energy than when drinking from a bottle. The exercise the baby's jaw muscles get by sucking, the constant pulling, encourages the growth of well formed jaws and straight, healthy teeth. Some people even say that breastfeeding helps keep your baby from getting too fat, it's easier to overfeed a baby when giving him/her formula than when you're breastfeeding him/her. And of course we can't deny what a cozy picture of mother and child make. There is no more potent symbol of the bond between mother and child. But it's not just a symbol. Studies show that it's through moments from contact like this that an actual bond between mother and child is formed. Breastfeeding stimulates the release of the hormone oxytocin in a mothers body. This promote the development of maternal behavior and strengthens the bonding between mother and child. Breastfeeding is also invaluable for the direct contact it establishes between mother and child. It satisfies a baby's emotional needs close skin to skin contact provides optimal nurturing and an almost automatic close emotional attachment. Touch has healing powers and is something we need all our lives. Touch is also invaluable for babies. Nursing our child is good for us. Not only is it joyful and relaxing bonding experience, there are also actual physical benefits to be gained by breastfeeding. First of all, if breast milk is good for babies and produces healthier babies, there is less stress involved. A healthy baby is less stressful to care for than a sickly one. Nursing our child also helps shrink our uterus after childbirth. The process of lactation causes the uterus to shrink. This also protects us from postpartum hemorrhage and also contributes to our getting our fatigue back. Breastfeeding is also a natural form of contraception. While we nursing, ovulation and menstruation are delayed. Breastfeeding is also good for the environment. It is completely natural, efficient use of resources. Infant formulas involve over grazing of land by cattle, use of chemical fertilizers to grow soy; use of resources for formula production; packaging and transportation of product; use of water and fuel for mixing the product and heating it, for sterilizing bottles and nipples; waste disposal of cans, bottles, accessories, cartons, etc. There are also studies that seem to indicate that mother's who breastfeed for at least six months throughout their lifetime have a decreased risk of breast cancer and similar reduced rates have been shown for ovarian and uterine cancers. While there is a temporary loss in bone density while breastfeeding, after breastfeeding, our bones actually get stronger, protecting us from Osteoporosis. **All in all,how we feed our baby is our choice. Whether we decide to breastfeed or bottlefeed really all depends on us and our lifestyle. But if we can slip in a bit of breastfeeding every now and then or at least express breast milk and bottlefeed it to our baby; the benefits are tremendous. Infant formulas and supplements may become better and more improved with more and more special ingredients every day, but breast milk is still good for babies.** Thanks for reading 📖 Good day. Love lots ❤️😘

Magical Brews Herbology is part of the curriculum of the wizard school that Harry Potter goes to, in the marvelously popular series of books written for kids but also for adults . https://read.cash/@Kris2310/magical-brews-787a59a6#herbology-is-part-of-the-curriculum-of-the-wizard-school-that-harry-potter-goes-to-in-the-marvelous Herbs have been used for healing since ancient times, and therefore have an aura of magic about them. I remember reading. I don't remember where, that gardens in ancient Greece or Rome were planted primarily to medical plants. Here we have our berbolarios. Recognizing the curative powers of certain plants that berbolarios have used for years, some laboratories have developed medicines like Ascof, which is made from Lagundi leaves, and is prescribed for cough. **Some herbs that most of us are familiar and can grow in our own gardens;** **Basil** commonly used for cooking. It can also treat stomachaches, vomiting, fever, the common cold, flu, menstrual pain and whooping cough. Rubbed on the temples, it relieves headaches. Oil from the leaves medicates insert bites and acne. It can be used also as a vemicide. An infusion from fresh leaves prevents travel sickness. It also has calming stress reducing effect. **Oregano** is brewed a tea which, like Basil, helps in cases of flu, colds, fever and menstrual discomfort. It reportedly is also good for rheumatism and gall bladder problems. Oregano may also be used in soothing baths, and as an antiseptic. **Peppermint** tea helps with problems of digestive system, such as colic, bloating, and spasms of the colon. **Rosemary** is good for circulatory system, for high blood pressure. It reportedly can prevent food poisoning if used generously in cooking. Maybe in ancient lore,if the kings food taster was unavailable, the cook was enjoined to put in a lot of Rosemary; even in the dessert. This herbs improves memory; soothes aches and pain and conditions skin and hair. It is also good for sore throats and singaw. Tarragon is believed by the French to cure snake bites. Come to think of it, FRENCH AND ITALIANS use all these herbs regularly in their cooking. **All of these are plant products.** To continue with our herbalism; chives stimulate appetite with their flavor similar to onion but milder, help in digestion and are a mild antibiotic. Parsley is rich in vitamins and minerals. Many know of its breath freshening properties and eat the sprigs of fresh parsley that garnish dishes in restaurants. It is a diuretic and relieves urinary and kidney problems Anise seeds make a nice addition to many native sweets like palitaw. It also has antiseptic properties, eases cough, relieves colic and nausea. The list is endless. Add to this our common plants and those generally known here to be good for certain ailments. Grow bananas, the latundan cures diarrhea. Eucalyptus leaves are good aromatherapy and driving away mosquitoes, mayana leaves for rubbing blue black bumps. Malunggay leaves aids lactation in nursing mothers. Ampalaya and garlic are both good for hypertension..and a lot more. All these should be used wisely and in conjunction with the advice of doctors, until proven completely safe and effective. It makes sense not to give these to children, pregnant or lactating mothers and allergy sufferers. We Filipino love **AROMATHERAPY**. We like pleasant scents and avoid offensive odors. But we tend to downplay the effects of aromatherapy. However, it would be impossible to grow this range of plants in the average garden. Nevertheless, there will always be at least one plant to satisfy us. The scent of citrus is also refreshing, it alleviate grief, stress and fatigue. Citrus are sensual and romantic. The scent of crushed basil leaves is calming, yet uplifting. It also improves respiration Rosemary and oregano are good for inhalation therapy. Crushing eucalyptus leaves to release their scent assists breathing and repels insects. Remember the smell of Vicks Vaporub, balm of childhood colds, bumps and mosquitoes bites? Speaking of memories, a certain scent may evoke recall of a happy past event, for one individual, but may cause the opposite for another person. So again a garden planted for aromatherapy has to suit the owner, or a garden with varied scents may be interesting to one who is sight impaired, but overwhelming to the sighted person. So let's choose our plants carefully, not simply for their colors. It would be nice if our gardens had no thorns; nice to have birds and wind chimes and yes some soft music as well, to stimulate all the senses. Thank you for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️😘

Food for Millennium Women Working women have different nutritional needs from their children, mostly due to a lifestyle exposed to everyday pollution and stress, which can affect health and well being and even increase the chances of illness. **Here are some guidelines for right eating to help women cope with their special working needs;** Women should plan and consume a balanced diet from a variety of foods. We should pay particular attention to increased food needs during pregnancy and lactation. And if you eat convenience food, choose those with higher nutritional value and observe the principle of variety. Adults should select fortified foods. Also read food labels to make healthier choices and take nutritional supplements only upon expert advice. To help prevent hypertension, limit your intake of salt and salty foods. Use iodized salt instead of regular salt. Practice environmental hygiene sanitation. Eat clean and safe food always and drink safe water to keep bad bacteria away. Women need to ensure availability of Vitamin B complex in their daily diet to help them cope with everyday stress. Vitamin B also increase the metabolism of food intake to boost energy levels and help fight fatigue experienced by people during stressful times. Green leafy vegetable such as Ampalaya tops, pepper leaves, kangkong and saluyot are rich in riboflavin while dark green vegetables are good sources of niacin. Women as well as men should drink eight to 12 glasses of water every day to flush out the toxins present in the body. This also rehydrates the body and promotes healthier, younger looking skin. Vitamin C is essential to women because it helps keep their skin smooth, clean and youthful looking, in the face of increased pollution around us. It also boosts the immune system which helps build the body's natural resistance to colds and infections which commonly occur when you're busy and rundown. One serving of guavas, tomatoes and other succulent fruits are sufficient to provide 70 to 75 mg. of Vitamin C, which is an adults daily requirement. Women need to take in moderation fat and cholesterol rich foods such as butter, nuts, internal organs of animals to avoid the risk of getting heart disease one of the top killers in the country. They should also increase their calcium intake to help fight osteoporosis, which is common among women as they get older. All dairy products cheese and baked products with eggs are good sources of calcium. Animal products such as meat, liver, eggs and seafood contain zinc, which helps manufacture proteins and genetic materials needed by the body. Zinc also assists in hormonal activity reproduction and lactation. To reduce stress, keep a balanced diet. Regular exercise and enough sleep are the perfect way to cope with the fast paced lifestyle of all working women. That's all. Thanks for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️😘 @Kris2310

@Kris2310

It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.. God created Adam and Eve, man and woman, male and female. The two sexes are part of His design. ***Then the Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to cultivate it and guard it...Then the Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to live alone. I will make a suitable companion to help him.' Then Lord God made the man fall into deep sleep, and while he was sleeping,He took out one of the man's ribs and closed up the flesh. He formed a woman out of the rib and brought her to him. Then the man said," At last, here is one of my own kind...bone taken from my bone, and flesh from my flesh. "Woman is her name because she was taken out of man." (Genesis 3:15,18,21-23)*** This is how the Bible says man and woman were created. They did not just come out of the hollows of mature bamboo stems, as folk legend would have us believe. They were designed by God and were given specific functions to fulfill. God's design starts with the body, which He Himself formed. The way a man and a woman's bodies were created reveal what he or she was meant to be. It is the woman, for example, who is expected to carry a child and give birth to it. A man doesn't the capacity to do so. Man,having thicker skin, heavier blood, larger bones and more muscles,is known to be the stronger sex. He is expected to care for the woman and provide for her needs. Woman, being created as man's companion is expected to help and support him. These roles are impressed on us even during childhood; the boy is given a ball or a gun as a toy; the girl is given a doll or a toy cooking set. Even Restroom doors are labeled "MALE AND FEMALE", LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS or HE AND SHE". Sometimes symbols or images of the boy and girl are used. A person who does not live to God's design will not find fulfillment in his or her life. There are certain roles, however, which are dictated by the society and culture a person belongs to. During ancient times, and until a few decades ago a certain countries, only men were allowed to receive an education,go to work or hold leadership positions. Women were to stay at home,do the laundry, cook and care for the children. This is no longer strictly followed in our country. Women are pushing for equal rights and opportunities. Not everything a man is,has and does, however, can be copied by a woman, and vice versa. There are certain things that are meant for men alone, and certain things that are meant for women alone. Homosexuality and Lesbianism are acquired behaviors caused by several factors, some so complex that they are hard to understand. They are not part of God's design, however. **No one is a homosexual by birth. There is no homosexual gene .** It is understood, nevertheless, that certain individuals are homosexuals not because they wanted to be one but because their experiences and environment have caused them to be so. People with this kind of problem should not be ridiculed but helped..and treatment is possible. The homosexual should ask for God's forgiveness, turn from his reprobate ways and resolve not to live a homosexual lifestyle. God can change his life. Remember; homosexual characteristics and traits are not in born. They acquired and learned and therefore, can be unlearned depending upon the willingness and openness of the individual to God. Professional counseling, guidance and supervision might sometimes also be needed. ***" In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankid........Genesis 5;1,2.*** "***You are not here by accident. As a crowning touch to God's creation, He prepared a man and a woman to work together in bringing the planet earth to the peak of its potential.' .(.Anonymous..)*** Sex is genetic..We are born with it. Gender is acquired. It is the process of developing masculinity or ferminity. The learned characteristics should be appropriate to the person's sexuality. Homosexuality arises when an individual acquires and develops a gender contrary to his sexuality. We are likened to a lock and key. They can exist, independently, but put together they accomplish a purpose. Each is needed by the other. Two locks do not fit, just as two keys do not fit. A male must perform his manly duties and responsibilities. A female should function according to her womanly role. Thanks for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️

Concepts and Principles of Training There are many reasons why people exercise. Among these are to improve their health and physical condition, to achieve a sporting ambition,to relieve the tension and stress of daily life,to lose weight, and to make one feel good. There are programs, principles, and techniques that are essential in any personal fitness program. Understanding these basic principles will surely help one understand the different types of fitness program. To better understand a particular fitness workout, the acronym **FIT** can be used as guide. Fit stands for Frequency,Intensity, and Time. These are the areas in which one could increase or overload in order to improve physical fitness. In addition to **FIT**, one should understand the importance of progression, mode of activity, and specifically, and types of exercise. There are principles of fitness training. FREQUENCY This determines the number of exercise session that an individual will do per week. After any form of exercise is performed, the body completes a process of rebuilding and repairing. It also finds balance that provides enough stress for the body to adopt and allows enough rest time for healing. INTENSITY This indicates whether the work load should be increased or decreased. It requires good balance to ensure that the intensity is hard enough to overload the body but not so difficult resulting in over training or burnout. The heart rate can be used to determine exercise intensity. TIME This refers to how long each individual session should last. This will vary based on the intensity and type of exercises. The intensity of the exercise has an impact on the length of time devoted to the fitness session. In most situations, monitoring the duration of the activity is more achievable than monitoring the intensity. Running is a good example for this, but not all can run at the same pace, but all can run for a certain amount of time. TYPE This refers to the type of exercise and what specific exercises will one perform. **There are some factors that might affect the fitness training of an individual.** **The Mode of Activity**. This refers to the types of activity that are conducive to fitness development. The routines are for differing age groups and suggest entry level Workloads. **The Progression.** This refers to the sequencing of exercises and usually involves manipulation of FIT to prevent some of the negative aspects often occurring with fitness activities. Muscle soreness and the early onset of fatigue due to lack of continues vigorous activity initially may cause one to start at high intensity activity. **The Specificity of Exercise.** This refers to the developing of a particular component of fitness through specifically designed exercises of proper FIT. This emphasizes the importance of a balanced approach to fitness. The implication of specificity is that exercising a certain part or component of the body develops only that part. The **Principles of Fitness Training** are guidelines that can help accelerate training progress and optimize result. Knowing how to apply these principles gives one an educated basis on which one can make decisions and design his or her fitness training program. **The following are the Eight Principles og Fitness Training;** Principle of Specificity- Body adjustments according to the type of training one performs. Principle of Overload-Implies the continually increased training loads as one's body adapt ove time. Principle of Reversibility- It refers to the loss of fitness that results after one stop training. Principle is Variation- It implies consistently changing aspects of one's workouts.Varying exercise, reps, sets, intensity, etc Principle of Transfer- implies that workout activity can improve the performance of other skills with common elements such as skills, exercises and sports. Principle of Individuality- implies that since no two individuals are exactly alike, fitness progress should be adjusted for personal differences like abilities, skills, gender, experiences, motivation, past injuries, and physical conditions. Principle of Recovery- implies that the rest of one needs depends upon one's training program. Principle of Balance- This suggests maintaining the right mix of exercise, diet, and healthy behavior. Falling out of balance may cause a variety of conditions that affect health and fitness. In short,it suggests all things in moderation. Follow your dreams, work hard and practice. Looking good and feeling good hand in hand. Stay FIT you're going to feel good. Thanks for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️ @Kris2310

Physical Fitness and its Components Physical fitness is a state of well being, the ability to perform activities effectively without undue fatigue. Proper nutrition, hygiene and exercise are key factors to achieve one's fitness. Maintaining the personal health and fitness is a matter of personal choice. How one lives generally determines how well and how long a person lives. Establishing a healthy lifestyle enables one to achieve one's special fitness level. Understanding the different fitness test and how to interpret the results will help one measure one's level of fitness. Getting fit and staying fit depends on self motivation, time management of,commitment and enjoyment. Physical Education is an integral part of the educational program designed to promote the optimum development of an individual....physical,emotional,mental, and social well being. Through various activities such as sports, leisure activities, dances and games. These ways of activities enhance skills, talents, inttelectual capability, and the emotional development in an individual. Physical fitness is the ability of an individual to perform his or her daily tasks without undue fatigue and have extra energy in case of emergency. To achieve this, proper decipline is very essential. Aside from decipline, total exposure to different physical activities will boost confidence and help enhance one's weaknesses. Health habits and lifestyle should be practiced to develop the mind and body to fight diseases. The absence of liquor, cigarettes, drugs and other vices could be of great help to maintain good health. Physical fitness components are divided into two; **health related skills and skills related fitness.** Health related skills include aspects of psychological function that offer protection against diseases, resulting from active lifestyle and that which can be improved through physical activities. **Health Related Skills fitness components are; muscular endurance, muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, skill related fitness, balance, flexibility, speed, agility, coordination, power, reaction time and organic vigor.** The ability to exert force over an extended period of time. Throwing and kicking are some examples of muscular endurance. The ability of the muscles to exert and produce maximum effort. Carrying a pail of water, big stones,or blocks of wood is component of muscular strength. The ability of the circulatory system to supply oxygen to working mucles during exercise is called cardiovascular endurance. Skill related fitness is closely related to athletic ability. It's components is useful in performing motor tasks related to sports and athletic. Refers to the body's ability to maintain a state of equilibrium while remaining stationary or moving is balance, it is important to all sports but is especially important in gymnastics. The ability of the muscles to move joints to perform a wide range of motion and to move easily and without strain or injury is called Flexibility. Speed is essential for the successful performance of most sports and general locomotor movement skills. The ability of the body to perform activities and to move and change direction in a short period of time is Agility. The linking of senses through the brain to the parts og the body to produce smooth, quick, and efficient controlled movements is Coordination. It can be developed by practicing over and over the skill to be learned. Power is the ability to transfer energy into force. To develop power,a person must practice activities that are required to improve strength, but at a fast rate. Power is the product of speed and strength. The amount of time it takes to make a physical response that one sees needed to take an action is called Reaction Time. While Organic Vigor refers to the cardiovascular efficiency which contributes to the ability of an individual to resist disease. That's all Thanks for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️ @Kris2310

Gateway Drugs Gateway drugs are drugs considered legal by society but have adverse effects on the individuals, family, and community. The term gateway drug considers two legal drugs.. **Tobacco and Alcohol,** as the the possible cause for people to try and experiment on more dangerous drugs. Others, however, state that other drugs should be included as gateway drugs. These two drugs are also referred sometimes as lifestyle related drugs as habits are always connected with socialization and parties. Continues and persistent use of tobacco and alcohol leads to several health problems, most of which are called lifestyle diseases. These lifestyle diseases progress to more severe diseases which can lead to disability and death. Teenagers are the most vulnerable to the negative health impact of smoking and alcohol use because they are curious, love to experiment, and are risk takers. In the Philippines, 2 out of 5 teenagers started smoking between the age of 13 and 15 years old. Filipinos die annually due to tobacco related diseases. The Department of Health elaborates that continues use, prolonged exposure to tobacco smoke and gravitated alcoholic drinking by teenagers result to early vulnerability to heart related diseases, lung diseases, and camcers. Studies reveal that one reason why many teenagers smoke and drink is their easy access to the drugs. Some of the reasons why teenagers have an easy and direct access to cigarettes and alcohol because of the **cheap price in the market . Cigarettes** are available in the market at a very reasonable price. Teenagers have been known to save their allowance and spend it on cigarettes and alcoholic beverages. Many advocates of the **"no to tobacco" and "no to alcohol"** stress that the government should impose stiffer tax and price on these commodities. Sometimes Family and Friends as negative role models. Parents, family members and friends who smoke and drink serve as negative role models for children and teenagers. A parent or family member who smoke and drink connotes a behavior and understanding to the child that the habit is good and accepted within the family. Lax of implementation of the law about smoking and drinking state that minors are prohibited from buying, selling, and using cigarettes and alcoholic beverages. In the Philippines minors are defined as persons aged 17 years old and below. Despite these laws and policies, many stores, establishment and individuals violate and disregard these provisions. Likewise, authorities are somewhat lenient on these provisions stipulated in the law. Media influence is also one reason. Media like television, films, commercials, print ads,and the Internet influence and condition people's mind and attitude towards cigarette smoking and drinking alcohol. Entertainment personalities who endorse cigarettes and alcoholic beverages and whose onscreen person are seen using alcohol and cigarettes are sending the wrong message to the youth. **Cigarettes** come from a tall, leafy plant called tobacco. It used to be grown only in South and Central America but is now cultivated around the world. There are various species of tobacco but the widely known species preferred for producing cigarettes is **NICOTIANA TABACUM** thus it is sometimes called the "common tobacco" Tobacco was first recorded to have been used by South and North American Indian around 600- 900 CE, (common era) as evidences carved on stones and rocks suggest. These early inhabitants smoked cigars during special religious occasions and for treating medical conditions. Nicotiana Tobacco was named after French ambassador to Portugal **Jean Nicot de Villamain** who ordered the shipment of tobacco leaves and seeds from **Brazil** to **Paris** in 1560 for medical purposes. Since its introduction in the 16th 17th century, tobacco, aside from being smoked, was also used as a **potent insecticide.** After World War II, tobacco as a pesticide became popular worldwide. By 1980's , the popularity of tobacco as pesticide gradually died down as more chemicals were available at a cheaper price and less harmful to animals including man. The World Health Organization, in its study of the different causes of mortality and morbidly ranks cigarette smoking and tobacco chewing as the second leading cause of death around the world. WHO further states that 1 in 10 adults worldwide die from smoking which reaches more than 5 million deaths annually. From this study, it is presumed that 10 million people will die each year until the year 2020. Each time a smoker puffs a cigarette or chew tobacco leaves, more than 14,000 toxic chemicals come into contact or enter the person's body. Of these chemicals, 43 are known to be carcinogenic. Carcinogens are substances which cause cancers. Smokers are also predisposed to heart related diseases and lung diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sometimes called obstructive lung disease. It is a progressive disease among smokers which involve difficulty in breathing. Progressive means it can get worst. **WHILE;** **Alcohol** is a colorless and bitter substance which comes from plant sugar and fruits juices. The juice or sugar is broken down into simpler substances through the process of fermentation. The use of alcohol by man predates written history. Archeological findings suggest that early civilization have fermented wild berry juice into alcohol. The sweet juice is mixed with yeast, a type of fungi and stored in earthen jars to ferment. Discovered written records from ancient. Alcohol is a depressant drug. A depressant acts completely the opposite of a stimulant. Depressants slow down body processes and functions especially the central nervous system. **Three types of alcoholic beverages are; Beer,Wine and Rum** Beer is an alcoholic beverage from grains and cereals like barley, oats rye,and wheat. It has 3℅ to 6℅ proof alcohol. Wine comes from fermented fruit juices like grapes, strawberry 🍓. Red wine is extracted from grapes with pulp while white wine is from grapes with the pulp removed. It contains 12℅14℅[24-28proof) alcohol Rum is an alcoholic drink made from fermented molasses. Molasses are thick, sticky, and dark syrup made from sugar cane. It is produced by boiling sugar cane until the juice becomes thick, sticky and dark. The tint of the syrup gives the rum its color. Rum containing 45℅[90proof] alcohol. Excessive alcohol drinking is known to cause many health problems and trigger intentional and unintentional injuries. Drunk driving is known to cause mild to severe injuries, loss limb and worst death. Alcohol drinking can also promt risky sexual behaviours. Some of the common health problems linked with alcohol drinking is brain damage, dementia (mental deterioration) mental disorders, heart diseases, liver diseases digestive problems, and social problems. Thats all. Please take care of yourself. As much as possible avoid or control yourself from deadly vices. Let us value ourselves. Good morning ☀ God Bless us All. Love lots ❤️

Risk Factors Health and well being are affected by many factors, and those that are associated with ill health, disability, disease or death are known as risk factors. One, therefore, must know how these risk factors affect one's health. Risk factors do not exist in isolation. Most often these factors coexist and interact with one another. **Risk factors are classified into the following;** **Behavioral Risk Factors**. These are factors that can be eliminated or reduced through lifestyle or behavioral changes. Example of these are smoking, physical inactivity, poor diet, and nutrition. **Biochemical Risk Factors.** These factors are combination of genetic lifestyle and other broad factors. Example are obesity, high blood pressure, and high blood cholesterol. **Environmental Risk factors.** Environmental determinants of health cover a wide array of topics, and can be split into two broad categories; *Social, economic, cultural and political. *Physical, chemical, and biological. **Genetic Risk Factors.** These factors are created by the genetic make up of a person. **Demographic Risk Factors.** Demographic factors include age, sex, and population subgroups. Example of risks associated with demographic factors are stroke, death, which occurs among person of age 75 and above and high percentage of occurrence of breast cancer among females while very low percentage among males. **The following are some of the common risks to one's health and well being.** Obesity It is considered as one of the most alarming health diseases in the world. Obesity means excessive amount of body fats. It increases the risk of health diseases and health problems such as heart disease and high blood pressure. In addition being overweight obstruct one's ability to control chronic diseases. Physical Inactivity This is the inability of an individual to do or involve oneself to any physical activity which can lead to having cardiovascular disease, colon and breast cancer, type 2 diabetes, and osteoporosis. Poor Nutrition This leads to reduced immunity, increases the vulnerability of diseases and impairs physical and mental development. It can also contribute to stress. Smoking This is considered as the most high risk disease that may lead into different health problems such as respiratory diseases, heart diseases and cancer. Smokers are classified into; Skinny smoker. One who worries about his or her weight and body image. Sneaky smoker. One who sneaks cigarettes when nobody is not around. Rebel smoker. One who smokes because it's against the rule. Social smoker. One who smokes in certain situations like during parties and in bars. Serial smoker. One who always say that it will be his or her last. Committed smoker. One who has never tried to quit smoking. The absence of a decline in the prevalence of hypertension indicates an urgent need for primary prevention by weight control, exercise, and reduced salt and alcohol intake. The urgency and choice of therapy of existing hypertension should be based on the multivariate cardiovascular risk profile that more appropriately targets hypertensive persons for treatment and prevention of cardiovascular sequelae. To prevent the risk factors, one must understand how these factors really affect one's health and wellness. There are ways on how to control, maintain and manage these health diseases and health problems. Choose healthy foods and maintain a healthy weight. Make physical activity a part of one's daily routine. Keep blood pressure and blood cholesterol under control. Eat a healthy balanced diet. Learn stress management and Power up one's mind and body. Uses of Dressing and Bandage One of the important lessons in Safety and First Aid education is the proper application of dressing and bandage. Dressing and bandage work hand in hand and are used to cover injuries like wounds as protection from infection and sprain and to immobilize the injured parts like sprain and fracture, thereby, reducing pain and discomfort. Through dressing and bandage are readily available in pharmacy stores, there are times that need to use these happens when someone least expect it. Therefore, any clean and sterile cloth and cloth like materials can be used as substitute to secure and protect injured body parts. Dressing is a clean and sterilized cloth pad or cloth like material used to cover and oftentimes to stop bleeding and protect the injury from infection. A clean cloth which absorbs blood can prevent infection to set in can be used as alternative for readily available dressing. **Generally, a dressing has three functions;** It control the bleeding. Dressing helps control bleeding and, thus, prevents significant blood loss. It minimize infection. A clean dressing minimizes if not prevent infection. A less infected area heals a lot faster than one that is swelling from infection. It absorption of the body fluids. When the body is wounded, blood and other fluids like plasma and water are lost. Dressing with the help of pressure helps absorb these fluids, thus preventing further injury. There are several kinds of **Dressing** for different injuries. A large injury would need a larger dressing while a smaller one needs a small dressing. The Roller Gauze is made from strips of sterilized gauze rolled firmly. Sizes are in inches and usually 10 yards long. The Square gauze pad is a dressing made from folded sheets of gauze. This also comes in different sizes. The Adhesive compress or sometimes called "adhesive strips" is for small wounds. The middle part is sterilized and the sticky parts act as adhesive and compress. Like dressing, a **Bandage** is a clean and sterile cloth like material whose purpose is to firmly hold the dressing on the injured body part. A bandage is used to Control bleeding bandage adds compression on the injured body part, thus, preventing swelling and loss of blood and body fluids. It helps immobilize injured body part, thus, preventing further damage to tissues. It also secure splints in place. Splints are mechanical devices which immobilize and protect injured body parts. **There are kinds of bandage also;** The triangular bandage it is large enough to cover different injuries. It can also be used as a broad, semi broad, and narrow cravat bandage. A cravat is prepared by folding a triangular bandage to the desired size. The four tail bandage, it has both ends and cut, making four ends. It works best for injuries of the nose and Chin. Remember not to use a four tail bandage for a jaw bone injury. The Muslin binder, it is a rectangular cloth measuring between 12 and 18 inches wide and 36 to 60 inches long and pinned in front. This binder works best for chest and abdominal injuries. Last the Elastic bandage, it is available in rolled form. Since it is elastic, it is pulled to the desired tightness to compress the injury. Always check capillary refill if used on limbs. The square knot is very popular in trying and securing dressing and bandage because it is very easy to tie and untie and once both ends were pulled will not easily slip, tighten up,or loosen up. Remember when tying and untying square knot, hold one end of the bandage with the right hand and the other end with the left hand. Place the right end over the left end. Insert right end under the loop and slip to the left. Left hand holds the inserted end and the right hand holds the other end. Place left end over the right end. Insert left end under and slip towards the right, pull the knot to secure it and release knot by pulling one end to the opposite end and pulling the knot towards the same end. Factors that Influence Substance Use and Abuse Drugs have been with man since the beginning of time. Drugs then were naturally extracted from plants and used in rituals, ceremonies, and entertainment purposes. Many civilizations have come and go but the presence and abuse of drugs remain. Ancient civilizations like Assyria, Mesopotamia, Egypt and India have experienced the influence of drugs. China almost fell apart because many of it's people became depends of drug use and abuse. In the modern times, illegal drugs are still a major problem of different states and societies. International trade and sale of these illegal and health risk commodities are still rampant. Drug Scenario in the Philippines is like other countries, it is also a challenged by drug related problems and issues. The country is an easy entry point for illegal drug trade because of its immense water boundaries that are not heavily patrolled by authorities. The government in response has appointed law enforcing and implementing agencies in its fight to stop illegal drug trade and use. Tasked to plan and formulate national policies and programs on drug prevention and control is the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB). It's programs and projects are done in cooperation with the Department of Education (DepEd). Department of Social Welfare, Department of Health (DOH) and other local government units LGU, and Non government Organizations, NGO. Working on integrated and well planned operations to arrest local and international drug syndicates are the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. Philippine national police, National bureau of Investigation, Philippine coast Guard, Bureau of Customs, United Nations Office on drugs and Crime, and other related agencies. The government also strictly implements the Dangerous Drug act 2002 which includes the mandatory drug test for application of driver's license, entrance to military service, application for firearms licensing, and others. It is not only the drug user's life that is destroyed by the continues and prolonged use of dangerous drugs. The family, the community, and the nation as a whole are also greatly affected. Prolonged and continues use of drugs leads to developing tolerance to the drugs which eventually leads to drug addiction. Severe dependence and health problems related to drug use can lead to hospitalization, rehabilitation, and even death. The effects of drug use and abuse are not always the same with drug users. Each person's brain capacity, function, and total body composition is different from other persons reactions to drugs and substances. A small dosage may create euphoria and great pleasure to a person while another person may restless and depressed. Drug use, misuse, and abuse are the results of different influences surrounding a person. These factors can either prove useful in staying away from drugs or getting completely hooked to drug use and abuse. These influences can be either called **RISK FACTORS or PROTECTIVE FACTORS.** Risk factors are influences which raise the likelihood of use, misuse, and abuse of drugs. Protective factors, on the other hand, are influences which lower the likelihood of use, misuse and abuse of drugs. Various domain in life like personal, family, peers and friends, school media and community greatly affects risk and protective factors. It is important to note that several of these factors should be present in order to say a person is susceptible to drug use, misuse, and abuse. Likewise, few protective factors present does not also make a person vulnerable to drug use and abuse. **The common illicit of drugs in the Philippines are;** **SHABU** (methamphetamine) a potent stimulant drug . It has many street names, the most popular is shabu. The drug is available in crystal form. It is ingested, injected, inhaled and smoked. It was dubbed as the" poor man's cocaine " **Marijuana** comes from the cannabis plant. It is powerful psychoactive drug. It affect mental processes and behavior. Marijuana is smoked, inhaled, ingested and used as a tea. **Inhalants** substances which are volatile in nature. These include household and industrial chemicals like solvents and medical vapor drugs. It is common among street children as these are cheap and can be easily shared among groups The condition of the body to adapt to the different effects of substance to the body which makes the body require for an even greater amount of the substance to experience the same psychological, mental and physical effects experienced when taking the last dosage is called **Drug Tolerance.** Overall, a general decreasing trend can be observed in cigarette use and alcohol use among adolescents. However, despite rather strict regulations on tobacco in most countries and on alcohol in some countries, adolescents still report relatively easy access to tobacco and alcohol. Moreover, trends over the past two decades indicate a closing of the gender gap in the use of tobacco and alcohol. The data suggest that cannabis remains an ‘established’ drug. Although prevalence peaked in 2003 and decreased slightly thereafter, the prevalence rates in lifetime and current cannabis use are higher in 2015 than in 1995. In many countries, prevalence rates for NPS suggest that these substances are more attractive than the ‘old drugs’ amphetamine, ecstasy, cocaine or LSD. Availability of NPS and adolescents’ use of these substances need to be closely monitored. Thanks for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️ @Kris2310

Biking Biking is one of the easiest ways to exercise. One can ride a bicycle almost anywhere, at any time of the year, and without spending a fortune. Many people put off doing certain sports maybe because of the high level of skill required, or perhaps because they cannot commit to a team sports due to time pressures. But with biking, all one needs to get started is a bike,a little time, and a bit of confidence. During the 1820's the bicycle was considered as a children's toy. But this changed in the 1860's when father and son Pierre and Ernest Michaux transformed the bicycle into a kind of transportation that can help people travel in s fast and easy way. Ernest Michaux invented a bicycle with pedal in 1861. Biking increases muscle tone. Improves general muscle function gradually, with little risk of over exercise or strain. Regular biking strengthens leg muscles and is great for the mobility of the hip and knee joints. Improvement in the muscle tone of the legs, thighs, rear end, and hips is gradually seen. It is a good way to build stamina. One who enjoys biking would not notice how he or she has gone while biking. It makes the heart pound in a steady manner and helps improve cardiovascular fitness. It uses the largest muscle groups in the legs and raises heart rate to benefit stamina and fitness. Biking is a good way to lose those unwanted pounds. Steady biking burns approximately 300 calories per hour. Biking for 30 minutes every day would burn 11 pounds of fat in a year. Since it helps build muscle, it will also boost the metabolic rate long after riding is finished. It is an activity that involves the whole body. Therefore, arm to leg, feet to hands, and body to eye coordination are improved. Any regular exercise can reduce stress and depression and can improve one's well being and one's self esteem. Biking outdoors is also a good way to be with nature. It also makes one to feel the breath of the earth. It takes one's mind out of everyday life stress and rejuvenates one's soul. Biking have power pedal skills. There is a right way and wrong way to start a bicycle from a stop. Some folks start with a foot on one pedal and the other foot paddling along on the pavement trying to get the bike rolling. This is a bit dangerous. Attempting to cross a wide street, one may not be able to get up enough speed to keep from colliding with cross traffic. **To do the power pedal there's a technique;** Pull one pedal (whichever feels more natural) up so that it is about two thirds from the top of the pedal rotation. Put the foot on that pedal and stand on it. This will naturally push the bike up and onto the saddle, and the other foot can easily find its pedal. The bike is now controlled and can accelerate and shift as needed. While shoulder check is an absolutely critical skill. The ability to scan over the shoulder without making the bike swerve is a necessity. The mistake an inexperienced cyclist will make is pulling the left end of the handlebar with the left hand as he turns his head. This makes the bike swerve left before the cyclist has checked to be sure it is safe to move left. To do the shoulder check, practice this skill in an empty parking lot. Use the parking space lines to keep track of how straight to ride. The arms should be slightly bent at the elbows. This is very good practice in general; it reduces stress on the hands, wrists, and shoulders, and prevents wobbling or over steering. Drop the shoulders a bit and focus on just turning the neck and head. If there are mobility issues with the neck or want to get an especially good view of what is going on behind, take the left hand off the bar and place it on the thigh. Remember,it is the left hand which inadvertently pulls on the bar; the right does not push it. **Braking:** The brakes should be used properly. Many novices are afraid of the front brake, believing it will "throw them over the handlebars." Such fears are probably based on childhood mishaps or on poorly maintained bike. A well maintained front wheel and brake will stop safety and effectively. This is important because the front brake has about 70 percent on the bike's braking power. Bicycle riding is fun, healthy, and a great way to be independent. But it is important to remember that a bicycle is not a toy; it's a vehicle! Be cool..follow some basic safety tips when riding. Before using the bicycle, make sure it is ready to ride. The bike should always be inspected to make sure all parts are secure and working properly. Avoid riding at night, it is more dangerous to ride than during the day because at night, a rider is harder to see. If one has to ride at night, something that makes one more easily seen by others should be worn. We must obey all traffic laws, all traffic signs, and lane markings should be obeyed when out in the streets. We should be stay alert at all times, watch out for potholes, cracks, wet leaves, storm grates, railroad tracks,or anything that could make one lose control of one's bike. Since one needs one's ears to her traffic and avoid dangerous situations; avoid wearing a headset. The car culture has developed over generations and will not change overnight. Rising levels of congestion, pollution, obesity and recognition of climate change have led to Government action to encourage cycling, particularly as an alternative to motoring. To an extent these efforts are succeeding and there has been a rise in the number of cyclists on the roads in recent years. Cycling remains though a minority activity. One major challenge is in enticing individuals to trade the virtual invulnerability of a motor car, where the risks are borne by others, for the vulnerability of the cyclist to the mistakes of motorists. The risks to the cyclist are not as high as they are often perceived and are counterbalanced by the health benefits of exercise. However, the perception, aided and reinforced by segregation and requirements for personal protection, feeds the reluctance of cyclists to take to the roads. Potential road cyclists as a consequence remain in the car or ride on the pavement. **Many people get hurt because they don't follow the rules of bike safety.** #staysafe Thanks for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️

Recreation... Recreation is a means of relaxation of the mind and body. Engaging in one or different activities relieves day to day tension. The use of time in a creative way helps improve the skill and the development of an individual who in all phrases of life. **There are nine characteristics of recreation;** Recreation involves an Activity. The concept of activity for recreation depends on the action done mentally, physically,or emotionally. Recreation has no single form. It offers variety of choices with endless possibilities. The only factor of individual is the motivational desire in his or her choices and the enjoyment he/she gets. Recreation is determined by motivation. The individual determine his or her activity largely by a desire, motive, or incentive. The ultimate goal is to reach ones satisfaction and enjoyment. Recreation occurs in unobligated time. It can be organized or unorganized; it can be enjoyed in a group or alone. Recreation has no by products. The best motivation for an individual to do recreation activities is the reward after the activity which are physical health, emotional stability, or social fitness. **Health** **Benefits**. Time spent in outdoor recreation leads to a range of benefits, from reduced obesity in rates to strengthen family ties. According to Robert Manning professor of recreation management, whether one prefers a leisurely scroll along a nature of trail or a strenuous hike up a steep mountain path, outdoor recreation sites provide the setting for physical and mental growth. **Physical Benefits.** Regular outdoor activities provide a number of physical health benefits, including; **lower blood pressure, reduced arthritis pain, weight loss and lowered risk of diabetes, certain cancers, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. A healthy weight and reduced risk of chronic disease.** **Social Benefits.** Along with an increase in physical activity, outdoor recreation offers the chance to socialize. For instance, bird watching incorporates several activities, including the physical movement of walking, interpreting visual and auditory input, and speaking to other bird watchers. Social settings of outdoors spaces, especially urban parks, are associated with positive experiences. Outdoor physical activity can also increase pride in the community,as well as offer the chance to meet people with similar interests. **Intellectual Benefits. Outdoor activities lead to;** an increased confidence, improved creativity, and better self esteem. It rejuvenate and calming of the mind, improved outlook and increased positive effect when done in natural settings. In contrast, artificial environments may cause feelings of exhaustion, irritability, inattentiveness, and impulsively. **Emotional Benefits.** Both physical activities and outdoor settings reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Spending time Excercising in a parks can leads to an increase in positive moods and a reduction in cortisol levels,a hormone released when the body feels stress. Similarly, increased access to green space for activities such as walking decreases stress..especially for children. Recreation outdoor benefits is good for the mind. Outdoor recreation has psychological benefits, including the prevention or reduction of stress; improved self esteem, confidence and creativity; spiritual growth; and an increased sense of exhilaration, adventure and challenge from life. It is good for the body also. Getting outside provide physical benefits, such as aerobic, cardiovascular and muscular fitness,as well as improve functioning of the immune system. Better for one's social life. The great outdoors afford social benefits like bonding with like minded people who enjoy outdoor activities and feeling an increased pride in your community. It's good for the economy. Outdoor recreation pays off with economic benefits too. People who regularly participate in outdoor recreation tend to be more productive at work. Outdoor recreation creates job opportunities for others, which leads to economic growth. And the preservation of the natural areas needed for outdoor recreation increases property values. It also gives environmental awareness and involvement in environmental issues. Outdoor education, training and recreation promote active learning through direct personal experience and offer excitement, fun adventure within a framework of safety. Active learning and adventure outdoors can take place in a variety of environments;rural and urban and more remote. Outdoor education, training and recreation involve both young people and adults in a wide range of experiences. Many people are heading outdoor to experience nature. Responsibility is expected in any outdoor activity time. Always remember to take care of natural things. Never destroy anything. Do not peel bark or break branches off living trees,or pull up plants by their roots,or kill animals. When looking for materials for nature projects, take only fallen leaves, branches or sticks lying on the ground,or dried up weeds. Get to know the laws in the area for picking wild plants and flowers. Pick live flowers or grasses for drying or making arrangements. But only if it is not forbidden by the law. Capture carefully bugs, spiders, worms, frogs and other animal, but don't let them die . Give it its freedom back after a short while. Learn to enjoy nature's treasures without using them up. Take pictures of things often. Never eat or taste plants or fruits found and do not touch animals unless there is an assurance that they are safe. When going off exploring, tell someone about one's destination and how long to be away. Also never go alone. Utilize the body system. And lastly always clean up after doing outdoor activity. Don't leave trash or junk scattered around. Do go into a natural place and rearrange it by moving rocks or logs or things around. The evidence is clear and supports the work. There are opportunities to get multiple  benefits from such interventions social, health, economic, environmental.  Sadly due to a combination of factors relating to modern lifestyles and social circumstances people are not only becoming more at risk from diseases such as cancer, heart disease, but they are also becoming more alienated from the outdoors and consequently less able to benefit from the benefits the outdoors offer.  The evidence shows that those most at risk from inequalities in heath are also most at risk in terms of inequalities in relation to access to green space.   There are clear opportunities to develop win-win situations by engaging people in outdoor recreation. It is possible to do more with less if the multiple benefit approaches are considered.  However new initiatives require planning, creativity , a willingness to take risks and sound ways of capturing the outcomes of interventions with robust tools and measures that hold their own in the heath arena.   Engaging with evidencing outcomes is a must, and although this can be daunting for a sector that has tended to show its effectiveness in the qualitative experience itself rather than the quantitative detail, doing this will strengthen and deepen engagement between the outdoor and health sectors.  This is an area where both health and the outdoor recreation sector need to develop skills and understanding  and although it is still rather patchy progress is being seen.  It is important to keep on sharing good practice, this can be done by finding partners in health and social care sectors and looking for opportunities for synergy and co-production. However outdoor recreation for all its benefits will not have an impact over night or simply because the policy makers and professionals ‘get it’.  Tailoring interventions to meet individual and communities key needs is essential.  Audiences can be identified and targeted through social marketing and market segmentation techniques.  Embedding person-centred-care approaches to interventions is equally important.  Thanks for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️ @Kris2310

Nutrition and Healthy Eating Habits We all want to be healthy to live more longer to enjoy life. We need to be strong and agile. We just have to remember that our life is only one and we must take care of it. We need to be healthy and to do this it is important to know the proper nutrition in our body so that we can be fit, keep strong and have resistance to fight diseases. Nutrition refers to food intake, which is the key to any level of physical activity. Food is an important fuel to the body. Each nutrient has a specific purpose and meets a specific need of the body. One should know and understand the relationship between diet, health, and diseases. Good nutrition refers to a well balanced diet with a combination of a good physical activity. On the other hand, poor nutrition can lead to reduced immunity, increased vulnerability to diseases, and impaired physical and mental development. In order for the body to function better, proper nutrients are necessary. There are six classifications of **nutrients; carbohydrates, fats, minerals, vitamins, protein, and water.** **Carbohydrates** is the primary source of energy for the body. It powers every system of the body including the brain, heart, muscles, and vital signs. Rice, flour, potatoes and seeds are rich of carbohydrates. **Fats** protects our internal organs, provides fatty acids, helps fight some Cancer and heart diseases. Source of omega 3, which is good for the heart and helps fight cancer, usually found in fish. **Minerals** regulates body function. Green leafy vegetables and yellow fruits are essential source of minerals. Minerals do not produce energy. **Proteins** considered as the element and mortar of the body. The building blocks that provide structures for the tissue. It helps transport essential elements in the bloodstream. **Vitamins** is our body regulators. Rich sources of vitamins include green and yellow fruits and vegetables. Just like minerals, vitamins does not produce energy. **Water** is the most important nutrient, it regulates body temperature, it carries nutrients to the cells in my body. It does not produce energy also. Since food intake is essential in nutrition, the following are suggested tips that one may use to determine a good and healthy eating habit. Moderation is a key, it's not just what one eat, it's how one eat, fill up on colorful fruits and vegetables, eat more healthy carbohydrates and whole grains, enjoy healthy fats and avoid unhealthy fats, put protein in perspective, add calcium for strong bones and limit sugar and salt. There are many benefits in eating a healthy balanced diet rich in fruits, vitamins, minerals and vegetables. The nutrients improve the functioning of the different body parts, thus, enhancing one's health and we'll being. Other benefits of healthy eating includes; It helps maintain healthy weight, reduces risks factors like diabetes, stroke, and heart diseases, boost energy level, assist a healthy immune system, enhances the overall health of the different parts of the body, better sleep, improved physical endurance and strength, sharper mental abilities, enables one to lead a longer and healthier life and sense of well being. **Nutrition facts** labels is very important it helps to maintain better eating habits and aid in attaining a balanced energy level. Foods high in sugar and fat content tend to be more palatable and therefore become favorite staples, so it's even more **important** to be aware of their **nutritional** output. Good nutritional habits and a balanced diet aren't developed in one day, nor are they destroyed in one unbalanced meal. Healthful eating means a lifestyle of making choices and decisions, planning, and knowing how to make quick and wise choices when you haven't planned. What you learn about eating in these years on your own will help establish good dietary patterns for the rest of your life. Making the break from home cooking and becoming responsible for choosing the foods you eat is part of the challenge of becoming a mature and an independent adult. It is a challenge that should not be taken lightly. The nutritional habits you develop now will be difficult to change in the coming years when your body stops growing and your lifestyle may become more sedentary. Learning to make sensible choices from a confusing array of options is not easy, but the rewards are great. Eating nutritious and healthful food while maintaining your proper body weight will contribute to a better performance in the classroom, in the gym, and on the dance floor. You will feel and look your best. In contrast, a poor diet can lead to insidious health problems that can interfere with success in academic and social performance and may eventually mean confronting a serious long-term illness, such as heart disease or diabetes. Knowing how much and what to eat is important knowledge. **Live healthy** **Stay healthy** **Be healthy** Thanks for reading 📖 Love lots ❤️ @Kris2310
