Women of Vietnam

It is interesting that the Vietnamese are excessively protected from the sun, especially women. Even at temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius and high humidity, they are wrapped from head to toe, they look a bit like colorful ninjas. They also wear a kind of grilon socks on their feet, over which they put flip-flops. Only in the evening can you see them on the street in the "regular" edition.

In addition, most cosmetics contain chemicals to whiten the skin. Why are they doing this? To make their skin as light as possible, because it is a sign of beauty, higher status, civil origin. I don't know if it is a legacy of the period when whites were masters in these latitudes or something else. In any case, it is absurd to see them so covered even on the beaches, and us in bikinis frying in the sun, because we are too pale after winter. In Vietnam, dark skin color means you work in the fields, in the sun, and you are a peasant.Vietnam is one of the countries where I could stay to live for a while.

With all the inconveniences such as climate, pollution and traffic, in part and infrastructure, the country is beautiful, people are very approachable and friendly, open to foreigners, especially in the south, the food is excellent… much more for than against.

It is strange that they are all women, but later I only notice and find out that most jobs in Vietnam are done by women. They carry a heavy load on their backs, work in shops, at the market, clean, concrete, row, work in brickyards. Men mostly sit and smoke, waiting for tourists on motorcycles. It is not easy to be a woman in Vietnam!

My attention is drawn to the multitude of girls in traditional dresses, painting in the courtyard of the temple. They look like some high school graduates, although very funny as they try to walk in 10 cm heels, which do not go to the traditional ao dai. Ao dai is a Vietnamese dress, a tight silk tunic worn over trousers. Throughout history it has been worn by both men and women, today it is worn only by women, and is considered a very sensual part of the wardrobe. One saying goes: Ao dai covers everything and hides nothing!

During the Vietnam War, its use was completely reduced, to regain its importance in the eighties, so it was introduced in schools as a uniform, while in a more formal form it is worn at weddings, promotions ... There is also a practical, everyday variant, reaching only to the knees. .
