Nightmares Come True

That morning in Kemuning Village, the air was very fresh, the wind was blowing very cool. Budi and his friends go to school, his father goes to the fields, and his mother goes to the market to sell vegetables. As usual, Kemuning Village is very peaceful.

At noon, Budi and his friends came home from school, they saw the peak of Mount Merapi emitting smoke. Their village is located at the foot of Mount Merapi, so the view of the mountain can be seen in their village.

When in the market, Budi helps his mother in the market selling fresh vegetables, but Budi always looks at the mountain. Budi saw the mountain emitting increasingly thick smoke. Budi was a little surprised by the natural phenomenon he was seeing.

In the evening, Budi and his family are having dinner. Suddenly there was a sound like the sound of a bomb a great distance away. All the villagers heard the sound. The residents of Kemuning Village came out of their houses, they wanted to know where the sound came from. But the villagers saw nothing. The village was still and peaceful.

While sleeping, Budi had a bad dream, in his dream, Budi saw all the villagers running in fear. The residents carried all their belongings and shouted for help. Budi doesn't know what happened in his village. Still in his dream, Budi saw a 5-year-old girl crying because her parents left the girl. Budi also took the initiative to carry the girl away to the north, where all the residents ran.

Budi carried the girl while running to save himself even though he didn't know what had happened yet. While running, Budi tripped over a rock which made him fall. Instantly Budi was snapped out of his sleep. He immediately woke up and was grateful that what happened was just a dream. At that time, the clock showed 04.00 am, Budi couldn't sleep anymore because he was dreaming about his dream.

Budi didn't sleep until 06.00 am, he took a shower and got ready to go to school. While on the way to school, the booming sound like last night was heard again in the village, but this morning the banging was louder. All residents were surprised by the sound, the voice came from the direction of Mount Merapi. Not long after, the ground in Kemuning village shook, it was a big earthquake that lasted 30 seconds but was able to destroy several people's houses.

People were crying and screaming hysterically because their houses were destroyed, people who did not have time to leave their houses were buried by chunks of the walls of the house, many were injured and many died. From behind Budi saw a group of people running scared screaming for help. Budi was stunned and silent when he saw the very thick smoke from the direction of the mountain, it was a hot cloud from a volcanic eruption. Budi ran as fast as he could, he didn't expect that his nightmare would come true.

While running, Budi saw a pickup truck carrying victims of a natural disaster. Budi ran towards the pickup and hoped to survive the disaster. But unfortunately, Budi tripped over a large rock and made him fall, but Budi was able to get back up and run again towards the pickup. The pickup car was already running, Budi was left behind. He did not want to give up, he continued to chase the car while screaming. Fortunately, the driver who brought the car saw Budi from the rearview mirror. Budi was rescued by them and joined the disaster victims.

They were taken to the evacuation post, where Budi shouted the names of his parents, but there was no answer. It turned out that his father and mother did not survive the natural disaster. They have died from hot clouds from Mount Merapi. Budi cried loudly, he wished this was all a dream, but unfortunately, this is reality. Budi has to accept the harsh reality he has experienced, now Budi lives alone, he must be able to be strong in living his new life.
