For a rider, keeping your favorite motorbike in garage is not a pleasant option. However, there are times when you have to park your motorbike for a long time because you have to go out of town, maybe for work or other purposes.
In preparation for motorbike to remain in good condition even if left for a long time, here are some ways to store motorbike for a long time.
Clean your motorbike
For first step, it is recommended that you wash your motorbike thoroughly to clean all dirt that sticks to motorbike body such as dust and mud. Washing motorbike can prevent rust and all kinds of damage to the motor body paint. This wash also includes attached motorcycle accessories. After finishing with the washing process, your motorbike must be dried in sunlight before being stored for a long time to dry completely.
Change engine oil
When motorbike will be stored for a long time, it is important to drain and change engine oil. Because when motorbike is stored for a long time with dirty oil, carbon compounds that settle in oil will further agglomerate and can trigger engine damage.
Remove battery connector
Battery is an important and vital spare part that acts as heart of motorbike. A battery on a motorcycle that is not used for a long time can be a problem because it is prone to leakage of electrolyte fluid in it. It is recommended to remove battery until motorbike is used again.
Fill gas tank full
Never leave gas tank not full if you are going to store motorbike for a long time. Fully filled gasoline will prevent rust in motor tank. It is recommended to fill the tank with high octane gasoline.
Put cover or blanket motorbike
It is very important to properly cover motorbike, to ensure complete protection of motorbike. Installing a blanket will protect motorbike body and paint from dust. In addition, blanket will also prevent high humidity that will trigger corrosion or rust.
