Three Mothers

As I was re reading my article yesterday I suddenly felt like re-watching a certain episode in a Korean Drama that circles about these three kinds of mother and how they show their love and the importance of family for those mothers.

All families have different kind of mothers, whether they have certain attitudes toward others but as the light of the family they are valued in the household.

Single Mother

Kim Sun Young is a widow and has two children, Sun Woo and Jin Joo. She's raising her children alone and even though less fortunate they live day by day healthily. In such episode, her mother-in-law went to her house to check on Sun Woo whom was injured. Then she kept on mocking Sun Young for not tending her children's need well and that the children were all skinny. Her mother-in-law cried out and kept questioning heaven on why her son ended up marrying such an unfortunate woman and made their lives miserable and mooching her husband's pension. What struck me was when Sun Young talk back to her mother in law saying:
" I also am my mother's precious daughter...If she knows that I am hearing such horrible words like this,she would weep tears of blood."

The next day, Sun Young's mother arrived and visit her since she's opted to visit Sun Young's younger brother whom is in the hospital. Her mother didn't stay that long and just bring her side dishes for her and the children to share for days and then went off her way to the hospital. Later did Sun Young found out that her mother left her money with a little note saying " To my precious daughter, I don't have much money, so I couldn't put in a lot. Buy some pretty clothes for yourself my daughter. My daughter whom I love so much..

That night, she calls her brother and ask for her mom...when her mother answer the phone, all she wants to say vanished and only utter the word " Mom " and wept..

They say that God created mothers because they can't be everywhere at once. Even when I'm at the age to be a mom, my mom is always my guardian. Even saying the word, "mom'' hurts my heart... Mom is still strong..

The authoritative Mother

Ra Mi-Ran, a house wife and a mother of two boys, Jung Bong and Jung-Hwan. She holds the authority in the house. Everything the households need, she has solutions. She is the eyes, the hand and the feet of the family. Being surrounded with all boys she do all the works regarding cleaning and cooking and even the washing.
Then one day, her sister called and she need to be away for two days. Being nervous to leave the boys alone in the house for two days, she brief them on the do's and don't inside the house and even left them all the side dishes. Her husband and the kids said they'll be fine without her and the moment she was out the boys got on their hobbies without interruption.
Then she called after two days saying she's coming back. When she arrived the house is clean as if no hurricane came by or earthquake that would shake the house for they're the same as when she left. Instead of being happy, she became moody and went to bed directly.
So Jung-Hwan ask his friend on why was her mother sulky and not even happy that the house is clean when she arrived. The answer is simple as per his friend saying:
" You don't know why your mom is gloomy? It's because the family is doing well. you are all doing well without her."

"When one is at the age when one can console one's mother, it's when one matured to say "Thank you" and "I love you". If one wishes to make one's mother happy, the words, "Mom, I need you,"are more than enough.

The Selfless Mother

Lee Il-Hwa is a plain housewife to her husband and a mother to her three kids, her daughters Bo-Ra and Duk-Sun and her only son No-Eul. Her family is quite a mess because of their children. In such episode, Bo-Ra got into a situation for she joined the students protesting. Her husband is very against about Bo-Ra joining such organization and even punished Bo-Ra by being grounded in her room and not letting her eat and drink. Il-Hwa always worry for her children that she will go all bounds for them. She kept on telling Bo-Ra to apologize to her father and admit her mistakes but Bo-Ra is really firm and said she did nothing wrong. Bo-Ra is being searched by the authorities for being one of the protestant and when she escape from her father's grip she then was caught by the authorities and held captive in prison. her mother pleading the officers to let Bo-Ra go under the rain and kept saying all the good deeds Bo-Ra did in the past but still to no avail the officers didn't waver and put Bo-Ra in prison. Il-Hwa didn't left Bo-Ra's side even with the barricade that separate the both of them. Bo-Ra is all an embarrassed to her mother with the situation but still her mother only think about her safety.

Sometimes, I was embarrassed of my mom.
Sometimes, I was mad about why Mom doesn't have a bit of honor or pride.
That is because there is something more precious than herself.
It was because of me.
I didn't know then.
when people get stronger, it's not through their pride, but when they throw away their pride.
That's why... Mom is strong.

End Notes:
These mothers have different positions in life but they share the same task and that is to look after their family especially their children. Being a mother is a lifetime position one can never replace.
So value your mother more.
Show affection while you still can.
Try to understand her part if she became unreasonable.
Say "thank you" and " I love you"
That will make us, your mothers, happy.
