Rtanj - the more you explore this place, the more you will understand that the mystery of these mountains is a mixture of area 51, the Bermuda Triangle, the Egyptian Pyramids, urban legends.
It is really rare that somewhere so many mysteries are connected with only one place, Rtanj not only reminds of a pyramid but there is also a belief that inside the Mountain there is a hidden treasure, stories about aliens and their secrets are presented here as well as glowing balls that dominate this untouched nature.
A special nature reserve
In 2018, Rtanj was declared a Special Nature Reserve by a foreign country due to its endemic and relict flora and fauna, as well as the specific shape and composition of the relief. This reserve covers an area of 4,997,117 ha. Within this natural asset, there are three zones that have different degrees of protection. Rtanj is characterized by a wealth of rocks that originate from different geological periods. The peak of Rtnja, Šiljak the highest peak of the mountain, which has an altitude of 1555 meters , stands out with its specific appearance, which is represented by a unique regular pyramidal peak with karst and pits.

The church of St. George on Mount Rtanj, only ruins remain.
At the top of Rtnje is the ruin of the church of St. George, which in the past had 12 Orthodox icons and was built in the style of a synagogue. According to legend, it was built in 1935 as part of the then owner of the "Rtanj" mine, and was built by his wife and workers. The church was destroyed when gold hunters searched for hidden treasure. What is mysterious is that, according to legend, the church was financed by the Social Democratic Party of Germany, as well as that Hitler himself was on Rtnje in 1934.
Aliens -Legends are circulating that objects fly above Rtnje in which there are aliens who emit voices in a strange language.
