These are some unique and meaningful murals I came across at an exhibition last month. :) 1-2) It shows the multi-races in Malaysia, such as Malay, Chinese, Indian, and other minority ethnic groups from east Malaysia such as the Dayak, Kadazan, and Iban. 3-4) Our main frontliners during the pandemic - the doctors and nurses from the medical line. Other front liners such as the police, armies, postmen and food delivery drivers also helped maintain order in the city and took care of our safety and needs. Grateful for each one of them! ๐Ÿ™Œ 5) A view from the Putrajaya garden, where people breeze walk and spend time with family and friends. Symbolising the ideal healthy lifestyle of people in the city. Oh Malaysia, what a nation with rich culture! You are still beautiful despite your imperfections. I continue to speak goodness into you! ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พโค๏ธ

Last Sunday, I had a short walk with my friends in this beautiful park after lunch. What an enticing scenery with all the greenery and lakelets! I hope there will be more parks like this in the city, so people can enjoy and be immersed in nature more. :)

Sharing some yummy-licious home-cooked food photos that my friend cooked for her son's birthday party last Monday. What a scrumptious meal! So blessed! ๐Ÿ˜‹ 1) Minced Pork Tofu with Scallions - This is the most popular dish of the night! The first dish to be finished by the guests. Hahaha. I generally love tofu, so this dish definitely suits my palette! ๐Ÿ˜ 2) 2nd popular dish of the night - Salted Egg Fried Brinjal! It is a little oily (cause well, it's deep-fried ๐Ÿ˜‚), but it is so gooood! Totally a perfect combo! So flavourful! It'll make you wanna eat more rice. ๐Ÿ˜ 3) Stir-frying multiple vegetables such as broccoli, mushrooms, carrot, cauliflower, sweet bean pea, and bell pepper. Healthy and crunchy! 4) Fried vermicelli with luncheon meat cubes, prepared by one of the guests. 5) Lotus peanut soup - This is my favouriteeeeeee! โค๏ธ I'm totally a soup lover, I remember shamelessly taking 3-4 smaller bowls of soup (not this bowl in the pic), with the host's permission. Hahaha ๐Ÿ˜‚ Homecooked dishes are always full of love to me. There's a lot of heart, time and effort poured into every dish. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

I was invited to a friend's son's birthday a few days ago. Since it was a public holiday in Malaysia on Monday, we get to gather on a weekday night. The birthday boy's mum has prepared a scrumptious meal for all of us! So amazed and grateful for her. To reduce her load, me and my friend offered to wash the plates and utensils after meals. ๐Ÿ˜„ 1) Look at that amount of food! What a FEAST! ( I shall introduce each dish in my next post ๐Ÿ˜‚) 2) A short prayer before the meal. 3) Makan, makan! (meaning "let's eat!" in Malay). This really looked like a CNY reunion dinner! :D 4) Me and @trieors bought some presents for the birthday boy! 5) A group photo with the spiderman pose! Haha. Happy birthday, TY boy! You are so loved by all of us!โค๏ธ

Last Saturday, my friend invited me to a 10km run event which was organised by BMW. It was a replacement spot for her aunties who couldn't make it last minute. Since everything was paid, so I just took it as an opportunity to do morning exercise with my friends. ๐Ÿ˜„ 2) This event was held in Cyberjaya, a less congested developing city that is around 33km away from Kuala Lumpur. I mostly walked throughout the race as I didn't want to overexert myself since I'll have a badminton session 2 days after this event. 3) Came across these fast food outlets while jogging... Interesting distractions for those who felt hungry or want to give up halfway through the race. ๐Ÿ˜† 4) I remember vividly that I felt like my legs were not mine anymore when I hit the 7km mark. ๐Ÿ˜‚ And the volunteers shouted "Come on come on!! Last 3km!!!!" Haha, what an encouragement! ๐Ÿ’ช Finally, we completed the race after 1h50 mins. Phewww~ Good job girls! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ˜„ 5) Love the medal design! The back of the medal is a tire rim design of a BMW car. Cool!

Listening to worship songs on the TV, in the living room, with a nice stereo, is one of my precious and favourite alone time. Such a peaceful and blissful moment, together with the night breeze. Tried some Empire Sushi's Temaki (Hand Rolls) for dinner two nights ago. Not the best food haha, but the dinner ambience trumps it all. :)

I don't understand all arts, but I do like to appreciate art. Or more specifically, I like to see people express themselves in different means. One of them is through art. I'm always in awe of people who draw well. Like how did they turn what they saw in their imagination into lines and colours on paper? Haha๐ŸŽจ Saw these colourful floral-themed murals at a floral exhibition the other day. i Love the multi-coloured butterfly near the yellow flowers. ๐Ÿฆ‹ Do you spot any of your favourite flowers or insects in there? ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ“ Anjung Floria, Putrajaya

Otak-otak is one of my favourite Malaysian food. It is a fish paste-like dish where the main ingredients are fish pieces mixed with some spices and wrapped in a leaf. Nice to have it as a snack or with a bowl of warm rice. There are usually 2 common types: the steamed version in a leaf pocket style from Northern Malaysia, and the grilled version in stick from Southern Malaysia. Both have distinctive tastes, and I love them both. The Peranakan style otak-otak I had the other day has a soft and wet texture since it was steamed. So comforting to the tummy. It comes with some eggs, extra herbs, and tanginess from the lemongrass. The fish paste was firstly wrapped with a betel leaf inside and then finally wrapped with a banana leaf on the outer layer and pinned in a little pocket style. Looks cute eh? ๐Ÿ˜‹ ๐Ÿ“ Nyonya Colors

Roast meat stalls are quite commonly found in most non-halal food courts in Malaysia. They often sell roasted pork, barbequed pork, roasted chicken, steamed chicken and roasted duck as their main dish. And to complete the standard set meal, they will add some cucumber slices, rice / wantan noodles as the staple, and a bowl of scallion pepper soup as the side. I ordered a plate of Roasted Pork with Braised Tofu and Eggs for lunch a few days ago. It's quite rare to find braised tofu and egg in roast meat stalls like this. So when I saw it, I instantly ordered it as an extra side dish for my lunch. Part of it was also because I like braised tofu and egg. ๐Ÿ˜„ Love the crispiness of the roasted pork skin! The layers of lean meat and fats in between are well-balanced and not greasy. Meanwhile, the braised tofu and egg are not too bad as well. If only both are immersed in braised soy sauce while it's cooked, the inner part of the tofu and egg will taste equally flavorful as the sauce. Haha, just my personal preference. Still a yummylicious lunch overall! Burrrpppp~ ๐Ÿ˜‹

Tried Nasi Dagang at a shop called Nyonya Colors a few days ago. Apparently, Nasi dagang is a well-known Malaysian breakfast dish in East Coast. It usually consists of rice steamed in coconut milk, fish/chicken curry and side vege dish such as pickled cucumber and carrots. The one I ordered was a bit special because the rice is wrapped in a leaf and it comes with a flavorful, aromatic, thick curry chicken gravy which elevated the whole dish. ๐Ÿ˜‹ My newly discovered favourite is the keropok (chips/crackers) in this dish, called Emping. Upon googling it, I found out that it is a type of Indonesian snack that is made of melinjo or belinjo nuts. It has a minimal of saltiness and uniquely comes with a slight bitter taste too. I like the Emping because it is not too overwhelming with seasonings. It is quite "plain" yet it is addictive. Both saltiness and bitterness has a good balance and I can snack many pieces without feeling "jelak". (In English, jelak meaning you're sick/had enough of a particular taste especially that is too rich in flavour ๐Ÿ˜‚).

First time seeing a "water theme park" in a park! Although it's not a full fledge one, it is still considered a fairly huge area for the children to play. Most importantly, it's a free entrance! Yippy for the parents! ๐ŸŽ‰ And you can see the children were having so much fun! ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ“ Titiwangsa Lake Park

As I tour around KL more lately, I realise there are lots of murals painted on the wall or sometimes even on the objects. These are some paintings I captured while strolling Titiwangsa Lake Park. 1) They painted a colourful catfish on the TNB electricity meter box! ๐Ÿ˜„ 2) This... I contemplated for quite a while. Is this a turtle or a fish? It looks like a turtle head to me... yet it has scales and a fin... ๐Ÿค” What do you think this is? Hahaha 3) I like that they did some painting on the toilet building to match the surrounding greeneries. ๐ŸŒณ

Went for a jog at an urban park named Titiwangsa Lake Park in Kuala Lumpur 2 weekends ago, with two of my friends, @Trieors and her husband. 1) We were first greeted by the lake view with KLCC and National Art Gallery building in the background. Love the greeneries around the lake. ๐ŸŒณ 2) There are people who brought some snacks and have picnics under the big trees overlooking the lake too. What a beautiful view! ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ 3) One thing I like about this park is that they have a well-paved pathway, which I think it's a huge delight to people who wants to stroll, jog or cycle. But the park was packed 2 Saturdays ago. Many people rented individual or tandem bikes (bicycles with 2 seats) to ride around the park, which makes our jog a little difficult. We need to constantly stop to avoid getting hit by people. ๐Ÿ˜‚ 4) Walked past a beautiful little pond with pink and white lotus flowers too. There are mini waterfalls (if you can see them). ๐Ÿ˜ 5) There's also a beautiful cafe in the park. Nice to have a tea break here with the greeneries around. Comforting to the eyes and soul. โ˜•

Had a plate of Nasi Lemak with Chicken Rendang for lunch today! Nasi lemak is a national dish that is commonly found in Malaysia. It is a dish originating in Malay cuisine that consists of fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf. Everything on the plate was well seasoned! ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ’ฏ. Chicken Rendang โœ… Sambal โœ… Ground nuts โœ… Egg โœ… Fried anchovies โœ… Rice โœ… Le tummy is well fed today. I don't usually eat a lot of rice, but today, I ate a whole bowl of rice cause I was super hungry ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Continuing from the flower and garden exhibition trip recently, me and my friend walked to another section called the China-Malaysia Friendship Garden. This Lingnan-styled Friendship Garden was built in 2014 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia. According to the website, it uses RM 1.5 million to cover the entire construction of this garden. With the oriental architecture, red lanterns, bonsai and bamboo trees, it really makes you feel like you're in China. ๐Ÿ˜„

Went to an ice-cream shop lately to treat a friend for her birthday. Inside Scoop is a Malaysian homegrown ice cream brand who claims that their ice cream was freshly made using premium ingredients without artificial flavourings or preservatives. I've bought this ice cream brand as a gift to a few friends before, but I've not personally tried it. There were 5 of us, so we selected 3 different flavours to share - Pistachio, Cempedak (a Southeast Asian fruit that has pretty similar taste as Jackfruit), and Valrhorna Chocolate. Pistachio flavour has the mildest taste among all but it is sweet. Meanwhile, the Cempedak flavor was good as it really tasted like real Cempedak fruit, but it became too sweet for me after a few tasting as well. Haha. Thank God, Valrhorna Chocolate flavour is bittersweet like dark chocolate. So that's my favourite among the three! โค The shop has a lovely interior design too. There are two flight of stairs that you can sit on that leads up to a rainbow. Like you're floating in the clouds. Makes you feel like you'll be on cloud nine after eating their ice cream. Haha. Hope to try their ice-cream cakes one day! ๐Ÿฆ

Had a scrumptious dinner at Wonderland Valley with a group of friends a few weeks ago. This restaurant is located in quite a secluded area in Bentong. I remember we needed to drive over a dodgy metal bridge above a river to reach this place. ๐Ÿ˜‚ But the food is definitely the highlight here! My 3 favourite dishes of the night were the Iberico Pork Ribs, Steamed Patin Fish and Stir Fried Sweet Potato Leaves with Salted Fish. So yummy and flavorful! ๐Ÿ˜‹ According to my friends, the menu pricing here is considered decent/cheaper than restaurants in KL. Hope to come here again one day!

Another breakfast experimenting day. ๐Ÿ˜„ To finish up the remaining egg yesterday, I made another simple breakfast this morning. Again, this is a whatever-I-have-in-the-fridge/freezer kinda breakfast. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I used only 3 ingredients like slices of bread, an egg and grated cheese. The initial YouTube uses ham as the base, egg at the centre, and Mayonaise as the "barricade" at the side. But since I don't have ham and mayo, so I just make do with grated cheese as the "barricade" to prevent the egg from flowing out of the bread. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Next, I proceed to air-fry it at 180 degrees for 5 mins. In the first round, though it is still edible, the cheese was a bit burnt and the bread texture was slightly hard (last pic). ๐Ÿ˜‚ So I reduced it to 170 degrees for 3 mins for the 2nd slice of bread. It came out pretty nice! It's crunchy and a little savoury from the cheese. The texture is pretty similar to toast bread too. Maybe next round I'll try to adjust the temperature/time again to make the egg in the middle to be runny. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ I shall name this... Egg & Cheese Air-Fried Bread. Hahaha ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿง€๐Ÿž

Made a simple breakfast for me and my brother this morning. Ingredients include ready-made puff pastry sheets, sausages and one egg. Basically, I just took whatever that's available in the fridge/freezer. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I glanced at some youtube videos and went ahead to make it without knowing if it works since it's my first time making it.๐Ÿ˜„ Here are the steps: 1. Put the sausage in the middle of the pastry sheet. 2. Cut a short line on both left and right of the sausage. 3. Wrap the sausage by folding the left strip over to the right and vice versa. 4. Repeat step 2 and 3 from top to bottom of the sausage. 5. Prepare and beat the egg yolk. 6. Apply a layer of egg wash over the pastry. 7. Put into the air fryer and set 180 degrees for 15 mins 8. Tada! It's nice and crispy when it's eaten hot! My brother likes it too. Haha, I might make it again. Oh and, I just discovered this is called the Sausage Rolls. Yumsss! ๐Ÿ˜‹

Discovered some interesting garden themes/decorations/figurines from a flower and garden exhibition I visited recently. 1) As we continue to walk through the dreamy lane in the previous post, we saw this cute building on our left named Lake Cabin. Like its name, it looks like a little cabin that appeared near the lake or out of nowhere in the forest. They even got a kombi van as their props, as if there's an owner that owns this cabin. Haha so cute! 2) Wow, look at that GIANT red ant in the flower bushes! So creative that they used metal steel as their legs! ๐Ÿœ 3) Aside from displaying the flowers on the ground, they also have this octagon igloo-like structure where they hung various plants and flowers on the wall as decorations. Very creative! 4-5) The other corner of the area is a place called Fantasy Garden. They have big figurines like mushrooms, flowers, ladybirds and Christmas candy sticks as decorations in the park. It certainly looks like an imaginative garden that'll appear in movies like The Hobbit/Snow White/Alice in Wonderland/Super Mario. ๐Ÿ˜„

This is a continuing post from a flower and garden exhibition I visited recently. 1) After strolling through the Royal Pavilion section in the previous post, we continued walking to another section, which is the PPJ Garden. PPJ stands for Perbadanan Putrajaya, which means Putrajaya Corporation in English. PPJ has been the main organiser of this event since 2007. Very cool horse statues eh? Amazing woodcraft! ๐Ÿด 2) This place was filled with human beings. Everyone was busy taking photos of the scenery. Some helped their family and friends to take photos, some did selfie shots. It is quite difficult to get a clean portrait shot with a nice background without humans in it. ๐Ÿ˜‚ 3) As we walked toward the arch earlier, we saw another mini garden and pond with koi fishes under the bridge. There are orchids everywhere too! 4) This is another angle of the gazebo from the bridge. Such a flower-flourishing sight! 5) We then walked through a dreamy lane with many beautiful flower arches and flower trails on both sides. I waited quite a while for the people to get dismissed in order to get this slightly cleaner shot. ๐Ÿ˜œ

"I've always wanted to visit places with a sea of flowers." I guess my wish kinda came true when I had the chance to visit a local flower exhibition with a friend of mine last Friday!๐ŸŒผ Royal Floria Putrajaya is a flower and garden exhibition that is being held in Putrajaya yearly, but it was put on hold for the past 2 years due to the pandemic. This event was initially held from 29 August - 4 September with RM15 (USD 3+) per entry for adults. I wasn't aware of this event in the past years, so I'm glad I managed to visit for the first time this year! It was a super sunny day! We were first greeted by this beautiful sight at the Royal Pavilion section. They have a beautiful fountain surrounded by a bed of flowers. I guess this may be a glimpse of what a garden looks like in a royal palace. Haha, they even have a flower-flourishing gazebo (last pic)! A high gazebo like this is very rare in Malaysia. What a unique landscape theme they designed for this event! I shall bring you on a virtual tour of this place in the next few posts... :D

Finally tried this Kimchi ramen instant noodles given by @pinkjadeite as my bday gift! It's my first try and it was a good one! Despite my bad experience of consuming a whole big pack of kimchi from this brand last time. ๐Ÿ˜› The spiciness of the soup was tolerable and most importantly the kimchi used is the "old" kimchi, meaning it is well-fermented over a period of time and it is sour and savoury, which is nice to me. I wish they put more kimchi in it!!! ๐Ÿ˜‹ Continuing from the lemon joke a few weeks back, where 3 lemons were given to me as a bday gift by one of my friend's son (which I asked him why 3 lemons, and he replied 3 lemons means "I love you" ๐Ÿ˜‚), @pinkjadeite said her 3 ramen means... Had a yummylicious bowl of Tonkotsu Chasu Ramen 2 weeks ago with a friend of mine at Ramen Bar Shishido @ The Gasket Alley PJ. It is my 3rd time visiting this place and been loving their pork broth since the first time I tried it during the pandemic. Their signature tonkotsu broth (1st picture) looked simple, yet it was so creamy and rich of flavors! The broth tasted so good as it was said to be boiled for up to 48 hours! (Tonkotsu means โ€œpig bone,โ€ is a thick and hearty broth from boiling the pork meat and bones together) Kudos to the Japanese chef who created this awesome recipe ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿ‘. Besides that, i love the Ramen eggs too! It is a special type of Japanese soft-boiled eggs known for its custardy jammy egg yolk and umami flavor. So yummyyy! ๐Ÿ˜‹ Aside from the food, they have a pretty nice decorations as the restaurant's interior too. Retro props such as vintage signboards, posters, red lanterns, electric poles, bicycle etc, does make people feel like they were back in the 80's eating in some eatery at Tokyo night street. Blessed to have this homecook pan-fried burger bun, coupled with a sunnyside up and slices of pan-fried avocados with olive oil for breakfast this morning.
