Music is not just a big industry but it is really a big thread intricately intertwined with our everyday lives. If you are a commuter like me, you would also relate how listening to music can change the everyday battle of commuting to and from work. Ah, lucky are those who could work from home, right?
Anyway, I was traveling my usual route this morning and I was on my usual playlist. I finished a spotify playlist that was supposed to give its listeners motivation. And yes, it can really pump your day up. So anyway, I have finished it, and time for a fresh set of songs, and of course, my go-to playlist is my TSwizzle playlist. It's just a bunch of lovely songs from a lovely artist called Taylor Swift.
I just felt invigorated when I heard this song which I hadn't heard for quite some time. And for "quite some time" I mean around a week.

Today Was A Fairytale is a song released by Big Machine records back on January 19,2010. It was written and recorded by, surprise, surprise, none other than Taylor Swift herself. It was co-produced by her and Nathan Chapman.
The song was released as part of the soundtrack of the movie Valentine's Day. Taylor Swift acted in that movie too. She was joined by her then-sweetheart, Taylor Lautner. That werewolf from Twilight Saga. I was never a fan of that ship by the way.
As you know, a movie especially the big ones, have an amazing lineup of songs as their music soundtrack. This song received such positive feedback that it was dubbed as the best track on that movie's soundtrack. The song was able to reach the top 2 of Billboard's top 100 chart. Amazingly, this is also the first number 1 hit of Taylor Swift in Canada.
I have seen the movie, of course, but I can tell you proudly that I can't remember any other song from there, just this one.
Lyrics and Melody
The words and the melody to this wonderful piece were solely penned by Taylor Swift. She really is a genius when it comes to composing this kind of song that transcends reality and can carry the listener to a world of fantasy.

In this case, it was just a date, which normally happens, but she describes it to be a magical event that was taking place.

The second verse paints us a story of a young wide-eyed girl who is totally head over heels captivated by the magic of the guy. It was a pretty normal conversation that she views as a magnificent phenomenon.
This song is another testament to her superb mastery of the language. She managed to string together normal common words to make a fantasy into reality. She really made magic with such words. It was a feat that I could never even dream to achieve even if I had to live a hundred mystical years.
The magical effect of the lyrics is amplified by the playful melody and the masterful accompaniment of the instrument. The way the sounds jive together really gives off a mood that sets the tone you can find while watching Disney princesses singing outdoors. Well, that, plus a lively tempo.
Vibe
At least for me, the song takes me to a place where fantasy meets reality. I feel like I am living in the twilight zone where the two worlds collide. As I was riding my car while listening to this song, it gave me the illusion that I am inside a glorious carriage wheeling myself through a spectacular journey.
It automatically brightens my mood whenever I hear this song and it fills me with hope and a positive outlook. It makes me a bit optimistic that amidst this dull and lonely world, a touch of magic is somewhere out there and is just waiting for me to stumble upon it.
Conclusion
Well, what can I say? It may not be my favorite song of all time but it's a go-to tune when I want to feel uplifted. It is a song that can cheer me up on my darkest days. It's a simple song, well, I know it's hard to create a song from out of nowhere, but I say 'simple' from her level of epicness. I say 'simple' because there really is no exhibition when it comes to vocals or music, it is just a well-arranged song that is just perfect for what it is intended to do. Again, it's a simple song with a magnanimous effect on the listener and it is a magic trick made for our ears.
