The Studious Kid That I Was Part II

As promised, I'll try to continue this interesting prompt initiated by @kingofreview .

I have answered the first few questions in this article: The Studious Kid That I Was.

Without further ado, let's try to go on with the rest of this pretty handy questionnaire.

  • Played on a sports team

I did. I was part of our volleyball teams both for HS and grade school. I also played for our HS basketball team. During college though, I wasn't really focused on sports and I wasn't able to develop my body and skills to play for a higher level of competition. I was part of our college's basketball team though which plays against other colleges during foundation week.

  • Been the monitor

Not really, if anything, I was the one always being monitored. As I mentioned earlier in the first part of the article. I was really a talkative kid so I always belonged to the Noisy list the teachers asked the snitches, I mean, the representatives to write up.

  • Skipped school to do something fun

Hmmm. Define fun? Alcohol? Sex? Out of town? I did, of course. But which of the reasons mentioned? I'll leave that to your imagination. Remember, this was back in school days... okay? :)

  • Had a serious injury at school

I had. Or at least I think I did. It was back in grade school when we were on our lunch break and my classmates and I were playing tag across the quadrangle. I was running around, of course, and then I felt that I tripped. I felt that I couldn't move my foot. I was carried to the classroom and laid on top of a table until my father was called to the school and he had to carry me back home. Thinking back, maybe I was just overreacting to a small sprain. Or maybe I just wanted to go home early to eat some cake. I can't really recall the details.

Speaking of injury, one of my best friends was injured terribly while we were playing around inside the school. We were trying to see who can jump higher so we were jumping and tapping the roofing support of the school canteen. He jumped so high and then hang on the bottom chord of the roof truss with his hands. He tried to let go of the other hand and he was spun by the sheer force of gravity until his other arm twisted.

He fell down and broke his hand. We were all laughing because we thought he was just kidding and then he looked up all serious and said "why are you laughing? It hurts". And then he came to school two days after with a brace on one arm and one heck of a story.

  • Enjoyed studying

I had to admit, it was fun studying. I was curious. I wanted to learn what I could. And I really enjoy it when I learn something new.

  • Hit someone hard

Hmmm. I wasn't involved in many fights so... not really. But we used to play a game that sounds so barbaric when described. It's a game based on the native game called "moro-moro".

In the game, there will be two teams. Each team has its own base. The goal of the game is to capture all the members of the opposing team. You can capture a person by chasing him around when he is not in their base. But there's a catch, you can only capture a person if you left your base after he left his. So if you leave your base first, all you can do is run around and be bait unless you come back to your base while the other players are on the field, only then can you join the chase.

But we added a violent twist to this game. Instead of just simply tagging the captured member, we will hit them hard on their backs with our fists closed, as hard as we could. This kind of game was frowned upon by the teachers and aimed to ban it on the school grounds.

  • Played a prank

We always play pranks on each other so this is already a given. If I would choose what prank was the best, I think I will say that thing wherein we put some things inside someone's bag. Those who are careless with their belongings will then take home those things unwillingly. Sometimes, we put bricks, stones, or even the blackboard eraser in people's belongings. One of my classmates then was so oblivious about the whole matter that when he got back to school the next day, the brick was still inside his bag. Goes to show that he doesn't really check what's inside his bag or whatever. We also hide people's belongings everywhere.

There was also this prank that we use to do with others' bags. We tied them together or maybe tied them to the chair. That's how we roll. *evil laugh*.

  • Stuck a funny note on someone's back

This is epic and also a given. :)

  • Impress someone who dislikes you

As human beings, we like to impress people. And more so, those folks who don't want to be impressed by us. Yeah, we're all messed up like that. But luckily, in my own opinion, if I do say so myself, back when I was in school, there were just a few people who disliked me. Maybe there were more, but they didn't show it. Anyway, one of those people was the teacher who suspended me for cursing. It may not be intentional but the following year, I was able to snatch away the first place in our school and was able to graduate as the valedictorian. I sure hoped she was impressed. Lol.

Hi!

Oh boy! I'm sorry for blabbering. I didn't notice that it was this long already. It was just short earlier and the more I used my hands the longer it has gotten. Wait, I'm pertaining to the article and nothing else.. okay?

Let's just skip to the third and final part, shall we?

Cheers!!!

I had a good laugh. Nice answers to the prompt. I'm sure you had to put in extra effort to graduate as valedictorian even despite your ruggedness.

I wish I played on the sports team back then but my stamina and energy won't cooperate.

Once I tried to be the class monitor and I didn't like it as it adds another responsibility.
