"Good morning Miss Mari." Mari was greeted in unison by her crew as she walked into the school building.
"Good morning girls," she replied as she walked over to her locker.
"You are as cool as ever Miss Mari," her right-hand girl said.
And that's a really fair statement about her. Her glorious golden hair is on par with royalty if she chose to let the hairband go and let it all fall out. Even without applying any makeup, her face is just vibrant and she does not look pale at all. Maybe it has something to do with her very active lifestyle going around the neighborhood and doing stuff who knows what.
Her very feminine physique is just the ideal built and she would be any guy's dream if not only for the bat she is always holding. It completes her personality and it breaks her dream-girl image.
She reached for her locker door and when she opened it, an envelope fell out. What's with people and envelopes these days? She thought to herself.
One of her crew bent down and fetched the envelope for her. It was then handed over to Mari. Everyone was silent and intently looking at the envelope.
It was pink and when Mari turned it over where the flap is, there was a sticker in the shape of a heart keeping the flap closed. Everyone in the background gasped and Mari blushed for a bit.
"Could it be..."
"It couldn't'..."
"But it looks like..."
"Good morning Mari." Jeremy greeted her as he passed by her on his way to the stairs.
Mari quickly hid the envelope behind her. Could it be from Jeremy? Is it possible? Is it really a love letter?
Mari put it in her bag and made her way to her classroom too.
She was sitting quietly on her desk still pondering over the envelope she received that morning. She decided that she could not wait to go home to look at what the envelope holds so she took it out from her bag and flatly set it on her desk.
She carefully tore off the sticker holding the flap in place. A stationery paper was folded in half inside. She unfolded it and read what was written in the letter.
Your smile makes the sun shine brighter
There's not a sweeter sound than your laughter;
You put back the color everywhere,
You make the world so much better.
Mari's face was flushed after reading the passage again, and then again.
"Mari, do you like poems?" Jeremy asked.
Mari was sent into a panic and stuffed the letter into her pocket side pocket.
"Wh....w.....what?" somehow she managed to squeeze the word out of her mouth.
"I mean poems. Remember that request we did last week for the club? You seemed to know your ways around making rhymes and choosing the right words. That's amazing."
"Why thank you. Why do you ask?"
"Oh you know, I have been trying to write some verses lately," Jeremy said.
Mari's face lit up like a neon light that was ready to blow in any second. She could feel the heat building upon her cheeks.
"Are you okay Mari?" Jeremy asked and he proceeded to place his hand on Mari's forehead.
"Hey! You're burning up! You should go to the clinic and have yourself check out."
"Ah yes... I think I shall do that." Mari said while trying to stand.
"Would you like me to come with you," he asked.
"NO NO NO NO... I can do it." Mari adamantly said.
She walked out the door all wobbly and dizzy.
"I hope she's okay."
"Oh she's okay. You're the one who's not. You are making her sick." Momo remarked.
"What? What do you mean?!" Jeremy asked but Momo wouldn't budge.
Miss Erika came in and the classes started.
Halo there!!!
How are you doing? I hope that this article finds you well. So just a quick question, were you even alive when love letters are a thing? Have you received one? How did you feel about it? Did the person sign his or her name at the bottom? Did anything come out of that said letter?
I know most of us here grew up in the era of SMS and chatting but receiving that carefully written letter inscribed in a beautiful, fancy, and fragrant paper is something else. The excitement and anticipation when you open that meticulously sealed envelope is something you can't compare to a million text messages.
Alright, enough reminiscing, I bid you a good day with this one, and as always...
Cheers!!!
