Caramel Macchiato and $500M in Bitcoin
He didn't reply and immediately she thought: they've got him and now they're coming for me. She hurriedly pulled out the USB plugged into the laptop and pocketed it. She grabbed the laptop, turned it over, and pried out the hard disk and the memory from it. She then tossed them into a microwave and turned it on.
In just a few minutes she walked out of the warehouse dressed in a girly hoodie it was pink in color. At a glance, she looked like a normal teenager whose taste in clothing is really juvenile. She grabbed her bike and rode it away from the warehouse.
She dropped by a local Starbucks and ordered a caramel macchiato. While the barista was preparing her drink, she sat down at the table near the door and watched the people rushing through the streets on that cold November day. She breathe next to the glass wall and drew the symbol of Bitcoin on the mist that is created.
She waited patiently for the disc in front of her to vibrate. Those things really fascinated her. She was thinking how easily those things could be created with just some spare parts at home. All you need is an old cellphone lying around and a router to be used to transmit the signal. She shook her head and she remembered that she could even do it with just an old infrared remote control.
From the side pocket of her hoodie, she pulled out her Samsung Flip phone. She bought it a few days ago and she just wanted it for its nostalgic value. It reminds her of her very first phone, it was a Motorolla phone which was a thin-piece of marvel because it flips.
And of course, the phone was customized. She didn't trust Apple so she went with Android. She didn't trust the stock OS of Samsung so she flashed it with her own version of stock android. She fired up the TOR browser and went straight to the news. She smiled as she read the first headline she saw: $500 Million in Bitcoin Stolen.
She couldn't stop herself from smiling. But then the circular thing in front of her started buzzing like crazy. Her order was done. And it was ready to be claimed.
She walked over to the counter again and placed a $100 bill into the tip jar. She then winked at the barista who stared at her with awe. She then placed the cup into the front basket of her bike. She rang the bell twice as she drove away.
Although it was a time to celebrate, she couldn't bring herself to be completely happy. The reply that she was waiting for meant only one thing. Her partner was caught. It was just a hunch but she knows that he went off the grid because he knows that they are onto him. And she knows that they will use everything on him to get to her next.
She retraced back all their steps while sipping her cup. She thought out everything perfectly. She calculated all the risks and she factored everything in. She's confident that they will not find a shred of evidence linking her to the theft. But then again, it wouldn't hurt to be extra careful. She drove to her apartment. She looked around to see if there was anyone following her and when she was satisfied, she went into the building door. Through the lobby. She walked around a couple of times and head on over to the fire exit. She then crossed the street using another alley and went to the building across.
It was the building where her real apartment is located. She felt the side of the door and checked the scotch tape she placed on the door and it wasn't broken. It simply meant that no one has been there. It was safe.
She punched in the pin and the door opened for her. She jumped into the sofa and then got up again and walked toward the window. She peered into it to look for any suspicious activity and she couldn't see anything aside from herself being so paranoid.
She then sat back down on the couch and from under the coffee table, she pulled out a thin laptop. She fired it up and plugged in the USB from her pocket. It was a cold wallet and she checked the contents of the wallet. She smiled after a good day's work. She couldn't complain because she's $500 million richer, not bad for a good day's work.
Hello!
I decided to shake things up tonight. Instead of the usual freewriting under Late Nights, Drunken Thoughts, I chose to freewrite using a prompt.
The timer is set to 20 minutes and here is the prompt:
And the story above is what I came up with using the prompt. I just hope it made sense to you and wow, how would you like to have that amount of money in your wallet? Wew.
You can use this prompt too if you want. Let me know how different your story could be. I'm looking forward to your perspective and creativity. And hey, submit it to Prompt Factory if you'd like. :)
That's it from me until we read again.
Cheers!!!

That kind of money is breathtaking. I remembered the Motorola flip phone that I had back then.
