Who is right?
Greetings my dear friends of this community of readers, today I bring you a story I read about several old people who thought they were right.
It happened that in an old town there were 6 elderly gentlemen who were the most knowledgeable about life, they were blind but they had a lot of knowledge when it came to giving advice to young people.
One day it occurred to one of them to ask another of the older men if they knew what an elephant looked like, because although it was a rare animal in the village, it was known that there was someone who had one.
All the gentlemen one by one answered that none of them had ever met an elephant so they had nothing to say about it, itt was then that they decided to leave for the house of the good man who had it.
Arriving at the gentleman's house they asked him for the favor of letting them touch a part of the elephant's body in order to get to know it, they were informed that it was a very large animal and they would take him to touch a part of its body.
The first old man was taken to the elephant's tail and deduced that the elephant was very much like a rope because of its long, thin tail. The second man was taken to the elephant's ear and deduced that the elephant resembled a fan because of its flat and wide shape, the third man was placed near the elephant's leg and the elephant thought it resembled a tree because it was wide, thick and firm. The fourth man was placed on the trunk, which he thought resembled a wall because of its strong body, the fifth was placed next to the tusk and he thought it was a spear because of its sharpness and smoothness and the sixth one was allowed to touch the trunk and he thought it was a very big snake.
So all of them gratefully went to meet at the place where they used to go to discuss their dilemmas. This is how each one gave his opinion about what was an elephant, a rope, a fan, a tree, a wall, a spear and a snake, everyone had a different concept about the same animal according to their experience. They could not come to an agreement when a seventh older gentleman who did have all the senses realized that they would never come to an agreement and intercepted them.
And he told them there is no doubt that they all have a different concept of what an elephant is because each and every one of them only touched one part of the animal snd although all are right in their interpretations, none is the owner of the total truth.
And that is how the seventh lord got them out of their mistake and explained to them by joining all the parts of the elephant that they had touched.
It’s a story that I have read and I wanted to comment with you because I found the message interesting. In many occasions we get involved in discussions that become even violent because in our way of interpreting things we assume that we are completely right.
Sometimes it is better to listen to someone else's version of a certain point, because it may happen that our point of view is not the most accurate.
Many variables may have happened that disturb the reality of our opinion and if we do not accept the opinion of other people with more knowledge we will never reach the best interpretation of the dilemma that has caused a terrible discussion.
Needless to say that sometimes we lose communication with loved ones, family and friends just because we believe we are right and we do not allow ourselves for a moment to doubt that we may be wrong and that those other people may be right.
It’s better to listen to the opinions calmly and then coldly conclude what may be the true answer to our questions, this way we will avoid avoid avoidable discussions and wrong opinions about something or someone.

This story makes me sad because I remembered a recent discussion with my dad when I insisted I was right and I was angry at him, and in fact he was right and I can't tell him now that he was right. The message of this story is good. We should never insist that we are right, we should hear all opinions, look at all aspects.
