Empowering men and women is not easy. It takes time, and it should start within the person's heart and mindset. Their works may contribute in empowering them as a person, but it also reflects an identity of them. In this article, I want to share with everyone how s3x work reflect on a person. Is this work helping them to improve themselves? If you are curious, then might as well continue scrolling down.
S3x work do not and will never empower men and women.
Social issue involving gender, human rights, and inequality has been a trend worldwide. One of the most current and related social issue to gender is decriminalizing s3x work. It has been all over the internet, because industries and companies are starting to look for skilled s3x workers. There are a lot of misconceptions about it. But, does it empower men and women?
In my point of view, s3x work does not and will never empower men and women, even if the society is being open with this type of work. They may be receiving money for giving pleasure to someone, but it will not help them get through the shame of being that kind of worker. According to Julie Bindel who is also a founder of Justice for Women, the inside of a personβs body is not a workplace.
Before letting governments to approve this kind of work, they need to consider things like violence or harassment, the vulnerability of women, and any other harms. On the other hand, most men are s3x buyers, and just few of them were s3x workers as well. In their case, pride and ego are at risks. They are supposed to be working on a job where they could use their force as men, yet they think they had no choice too and made their body as their workplace.
These workers may be financially stable because of their job, but they are not empowering themselves, and either others. S3x work is just starting a conflict between the two genders. If a woman gives pleasure for money, then men will see them and treat them according to how much money they will pay. In this kind of work, it is like letting someone touch your soul, dignity, and look down on you as a person. And it is not empowering. To prove this, I have read that in some countries, s3x workers are being harassed by police officers.
According to Human Rights Watch, s3x workers in Africa are not reporting rapes and robberies to the police because they being laughed at and their concerns are not taken seriously. This only proves that being a s3x worker does not empower a person, because not everyone in the society supports this kind of work. Being like them can make you a target of harassment, violence, and your rights as a human can be deprived too. The worst scenario is that, you cannot ask for help if you are being raped since the rapist will only tell everyone the kind of work you have. These are the downside of being a s3x worker. You can be bullied, harassed, and you will forever question your worth as a person and not empower it.
Author's Conclusion:
I am aware that this issue is a sensitive one since most of the countries now are considering s3x work as a job. To some countries, specially Christian countries, this kind of work is immoral. But with the modernization and changes in the world, we cannot stop this from being heard and understood. For me, it should not be considered as a job since our body isn't a workplace. It is immoral and we cannot deny the fact that it will never empower you as a person, but rather putting yourself in a situation where you cannot fight for your right. Just because of what job you chose, you will be bullied. Choose wisely. Choose what you really deserve.
