This topic seems very funny but was a reality. My late Grandma had this experience in the β70s. It was about her husband- my grandpa. He was a very vibrant man and was full of wisdom. Even after his death, there are still a lot of people who referred to how he rescued them out of their problems, save their marriages, delivered them from those oppressing them with his words of wisdom. He had a little bit of educational background and values it so much that he made it compulsory for all his children. He gave parents advice to give their children valuable education.
Furthermore, he was successful a businessman in his lifetime, though he didnβt start with business, he was first working with the Nigeria police force which his father doesnβt like so he had to quit in other to please his father. This incident happens to him in the old Oshodi. Nigerians here can tell of the differences between Oshodi of old to the present one.
All thanks to Ex. Gov. Fashola who transformed Oshodi and other subsequent governors build on it. Oshodi of old is filled with traffic jams, both vehicles and humans walk slowly because half of the road has turned to an open market.
Presently, it looks attractive. You can move freely with ease. As a businessman, my grandfather does travel all around the country to buy and sell farm products. Majorly cocoa, groundnuts and cashew seeds. This was a very rich business back then when farming happens to be the made source of living in the country.
Unfortunately, one day after selling his products on his way back he was to pass through Oshodi. On getting there a young boy was running towards him and suddenly hijacked his bag and kept running. It was a painful incident because all the money he realizes from his sales was inside the bag. He went back home with much sadness, everyone at home felt the need to comfort him for his loss.
Few weeks after the incident, he decided to adopt a funny strategy. He woke up so early in the morning excreted in a polythene bag, wrapped it up and package it inside a bag just as the last time. He made his sales and hide his money in his wears without any traces.
Likewise, he stood on the same spot where his bag was hijacked and pretended as if he was not conscious of the bag. In the same way, he saw someone running towards him and another pretending to be chasing him. Unexpectedly the one running at the front bypassed him, he was amazed to turn to see what happen probably it was another person he targeted. The other one drags the bag and threw it to the one at the front. They both kept running and everyone around wants help chase them, he stopped them from chasing them and kept laughing.
Those around him taught it was the valuable stolen from him that affecting him and probably making him run mad. After laughing for quite a while he stopped then explained to those trying to help him that he is in his rightful mind. They all laughed and departed from the scene.
I wonder what would have happened between the two when they open the bag. And for my grandfather that was thoughtful of him, he canβt do such in the present time. Where ritualist know as Yahoo+ go around in search of excreta to use for money Ritual, it would have just been a gift to them.
Stealing is bad because you bring sorrow to people you stole from and one day nemesis will catch up with you. Like saying goes βone-day monkey go go market to Steal banana, but he no go come back again.β
...and you will also help the author collect more tips.
Very smart of his grandfather what he did. I immediately imagined the face of the thieves as they went from a face of joy as they began to open the bag and changed to a face of disgust and disappointment as the reality was staring them in the face. lol.
