Plant a tree and save life

Will it be too late? As we knew lately, that we are experiencing flood and heavy rain, when we turn to news on TV and in any online platforms we can see a lot of houses, livelihood and life, that are destroyed by the flood.This floods and the weather was obviously caused by the climate change. For the whole year, we can experienced several times of rainy season, unlike before.

Yesterday, I watch the news on TV, and our president have talked about the value of planting trees. He urges the people and even the local government to have a tree planting to help prevent the flooding. Because they found out that the water that destroyed the homes of the people in Mindanao have came from the mountain, or in the upper place. If there are trees planted there, it can hold the soil to prevent it from flooding.

"Tree planting", is not new anymore to us, since I'm in elementary days, my teachers often told us to bring a seedling or even a ready to plant tree. We used to plant in the roadside in our barangay and sometimes near the river. Until, I came in the high-school, we also plant on the roadside and even having our clean up drive in the river. During college, we have a day to tree planting, in one of our subject matter.Therefore,tree planting is not new to us, since we are a kid, we are often taught in school about it, and we are aware too about the effect when the earth have no trees.

Plant trees and save lives

Everytime we plant trees, we are already preserving life. Trees have the major roles in our existence, it supports us with oxygen, and usable also in our daily life.

But what happened lately, trees are often cut off by people, and they don't even plant for replacement. And even if they will, it will also take a very long time to wait for it to become mature. I can still remember what my father told me before,when he is still young, our place are full of trees, but now, trees no more, all we can see are new establishments, buildings and businesses. The land full of trees are converted into markets, homes and others.

As the population are growing in numbers, trees are also fading.And because of this, a lot of people are now in danger, especially those who lived in higher places, or even in the city proper where there are no proper drainage when the water will rise up.

The president have pointed out this issue because it's a serious matter I think the people should be aware.

Each tree we plant is also the value of life that we give. But, unfortunately, some says are saying that, it's already too late. Things gonna happen in time, no one can stop it. Deep inside my heart was crying when I see some people who are dying, animals and household are destroyed seriously by the strong current of flood.

There are a lot of people who also make an initiative to plant trees, but some abusive people are also cutting trees because of their own intention. As we all know that even if the government will impose laws to protect the environment, we cannot expect 100% compliance. The mistake of a few, everybody will suffer and experienced the consequences,that is how the nature works.

We need to work at this as a whole citizen of this country, this time, the government should be awake and take action to those who are doing undesirable things with nature. There's nothing we can do when the flood hit us, we cannot even defend ourselves at the exact time that calamity will strike us.

For today, the mayor have ordered suspension of classes in all levels, with regards to the recent low pressure that brings heavy rainfall in our place last night. The parents in our group chat and teachers are worried, that's why they let the students go home before the heavy rainfall came.

Let us all be careful guys, the weather is changing all the time, we should never be complacent, but be careful and watchful as much as we can, especially when our place are prone to floods.
