During this pandemic, I know many people who are suffering from various forms of mental illness and are looking for someone to listen to them. As a person, I expect myself to inspire others to at the very least show empathy for those who are suffering from these disorders. Studying mental health is fascinating to me since it enables us to comprehend the situations that others face. I can attest the fact that majority of us suffer from mental illness, which we keep to ourselves and to our families since even our relatives do not comprehend what we are going through.
In this essay, I hope you will learn about the numerous forms of mental disorders that most of us have and how to deal with them, as well as how to comprehend individuals who live with these conditions.
Anxiety
Many people here, I feel, are dealing with their fears. People suffering from anxiety disorders, on the other hand, usually experience severe, excessive, and persistent worry and fear about ordinary events. Some doctors believe that you can have many anxiety disorders. Anxiety might be caused by a medical issue that requires treatment. Trembling, sweating, difficulty breathing, and simply having a tense and worried feeling are all classic symptoms of anxiety. If you observe someone with these symptoms, it's probable that their anxieties are attacking them, and sometimes it can cause to phobias and other mental illnesses, according to professionals.
Eating Disorders
"You are so fat, go to the gym!"
"Why are you so skinny but still eating a lot of foods? Are you on drugs?"
These are most of the common phrases we hear from some people. Well, I also heard it from my parents and I literally hate it because they don't understand what I am facing right now. But, just so you know, there are several sorts of eating disorders.
Binge-eating is defined as eating that is out of control. People who suffer from binge eating disorder continue to eat even when they are full. They frequently eat till they get really uncomfortable. They frequently experience remorse, shame, and distress thereafter. Bulimia nervosa is the second. Bulimia nervosa patients also experience binge eating episodes. However, they purge later by forcing themselves to vomit or taking laxatives. They might also overwork or fast. Bulimia nervosa can affect people who are underweight, average weight, or overweight. Lastly, there's Anorexia nervosa. People who have this skips food, some are restricting themselves from eating, or some, eat very small amounts foods. An eating disorder can affect anyone, but according to some health experts, it is more common in women. Eating disorders are serious mental illnesses. Take note that eating disorders are also a mental illness, not personal choices.
Psychotic Disorders
These are the people we refer to as "crazy." Patients experiencing from psychoses lose contact with reality. Delusions and hallucinations are two of the most common symptoms. Excessive drinking and drug use, brain tumors, brain infections, and stroke are all factors that can lead to psychosis. In serious circumstances where a person is a danger to himself or others, hospitalization is a possibility. Some psychosis can be caused by depression, neurological abnormalities, or traumatic events. As a result, if you come across someone who is experiencing a psychotic episode, you should try to listen to how they describe and comprehend their experiences. Also, give them the space they require to feel at ease and prevent from touching them. It is also advised that you should talk clearly and use short sentences, in a calm and non-threatening voice.

As a student who had the opportunity to learn about mental health, I must inspire others to understand those who suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, delusions, depression, and other mental illnesses. Because this type of mental disease necessitates treatment, and I feel that the best thing to give them is to be someone they can trust and rely on. I realized that during those difficult situations, we must not give those people a negative thoughts or destructive advice; what they actually need is someone to communicate to them with knowledge and good judgment. Let us learn to listen well and avoid being toxic.
