Are we ready to face the new normal?
While the other nations already manage to deal with their new normal, here in the Philippines, I can claim that we Filipinos are not REALLY ready for it. Some states already have policies in terms of safety regulations while here in our country, it feels like the pandemic is one of the biggest incomes of departments. Well, I don't want to mention any government agencies, departments or so what since I don't have 5 billion pesos in hand and mahirap na mag pangalan at baka akong magaya sa isang celebrity.
Anyways, since that is not really part of our discussion tonight, let's just bring up the main topic which is the question, "Are we ready to face the new normal? "
Some folks out there truly wish to lessen the restrictions here in the country while the other people don't like it. Why? Because when 2022 arrived, the cases of covid transmission and positive rate arises and even up to this day, a lot of individuals are getting diagnosed with Covid-19. But because the elections are approaching, the government is trying to ease the restrictions. Now you may notice a lot of people moving around, participating in certain rallies, campaigns and etc.
If you are here living in Metro Manila or NCR, you would strongly feel that there is no pandemic and what is different from 3 years ago is that now, we have facemasks. But I can tell you that some individuals still don't follow the most crucial guideline which is social distancing. If you will go to the market or malls or churches, you will observe highly packed people. There are instances when I walk outdoors and I still wanted to have myself secured, it feels like I am so bratty if I will tell others to distance themselves from me.
If you would ask me if our country is ready to confront the new normal, I think it will all depend on how the government will offer proper guidelines to it. When we say new normal, it is a new notion of living after years of pandemic and having quarantines.
This is what I expect if the new normal would apply:
Online learning will continue. For me, this is a good illustration of the new normal in schools. Department of education should emphasize first how they would truly support the young ones to be learned in their homes. Some parents would not allow their children to attend school despite their kids being vaccinated therefore I feel they should not be forcing all children to go to schools. Or if they will do so, 1-2 times face to face lessons should be implemented in kindergarten through high school. And at college, prioritize the individuals who are doing med courses. Again, they should offer children a chance to choose if they will attend a school or continue learning online.
Work from home setup should be normalized. There are numerous professions currently that can be done at home. Some BPO businesses have already normalized this one. For me, private enterprises nevertheless should provide their employees the right to work even at home. Some occupations that can suit this sort of working arrangement include those in the Education sector, Virtual Assistant, Web Developer, Marketing Consultant, Customer service, and many more. I believe that most jobs can benefit from working from home arrangements and that with this implementation, we can reduce the number of individuals working in establishments while simultaneously reducing the number of people who will require contact tracing.
So these are the two implementations that first must be done in this new normal. I think we can already see it for the last 3 years of this pandemic but I think that the best approach to cope with this pandemic, we should normalize everything.
I saw on the news sometime back that alert level 1 will apply in March 2022 and I assume they will now be ready to send children to school which I truly and strongly doubt. Take notice that we are still in the epidemic and we don't know what may happen after they send children from school like what they used to 3 years ago. I don't like the thought of it since we are dealing with children here.
How can you tell your child to defend herself and make social distancing? Do we promise 100 percent protection? Yes? No? That is why the right to choose should be acknowledged of both parties of course.
But nonetheless, discipline is the key, guys. Let us all train ourselves to be disciplined when we are out there in public places. Let's consider gaining distance from other individuals in case we need to cough or to do something that might make other people uncomfortable. Let's not be selfish and always consider for the children guys,
That's all and God Bless.
