She accepted to baby sit at night even though she hates to work in nights just because her employer promised her double pay. “extra money will help me in next month’s university project” she thought and she promised the couple that she will be home by 9 pm that day. the couple have three kids and two are going to school and one is just 2 years old. they have a family wedding to attend that night which they cannot miss and they cannot take the children for some reasons. the party is scheduled to end late at night so they thought not to take the kids as driving back with little kids isn’t that safe in city outskirts.
They needed a child carer and they found this girl through a reference. she arrived exactly by 8.30 pm with her books and she promised that she will do her work after the kids are asleep. the mom gave her all the instructions and the couple went to the parking, got into the car and just when they are about to leave, the mom said in a cold voice, “make sure you lock everything once we leave and you can keep the lights on if you wish to. this is city outskirts and make sure you keep kids safe”. the mom’s cold voice and the instructions gave her chills down her spine. but she kept a straight smiling face and said “have a great time mam!” and they left. She took the kids inside the house and they ran into their bed rooms. she started locking the windows and just when she was about to lock the main door, there was a loud quirk near the parking. she was so scared to go out and see. she just peeped outside from a window and she saw nothing. “may be a cat? or a mouse” she answered herself, let a huge sigh and closed the door finally.
She went to the kids bedroom and they were jumping and fighting. She instructed them to keep quiet and she took the two year old into her hands and started patting his back. He slowly went into sleep and she put him in his crib. switched on the night lamp and came out. She read out some stories to the other kids and after some time, they slept as well. She came back to the living room and she started reading her books and ****shatter* ..she heard a sudden sound of glasses breaking and its from the kitchen which is completely dark. She got up and started to search switches for kitchen lights and kept walking in the dark. she focused her mobile flash in the kitchen and saw nothing. “damn mouse again!!”. she cursed and turned and now she was face to face to a scary clown statue which had been kept in the corner of the hallway that she wondered how she did not notice it until then. The clown had big made up black colored eyes, huge red color nose and red color smile ear to ear. it looked scary and she slowly walked back to her sofa, sat down and started minding her business. then and there, she felt as if the statue was moving. the clown remained intact whenever she looked up.
After sometime, she finished her books and she did not feel to sleep. She went to check on the kids. they were sleeping peacefully. So, she messaged their dad and asked his permission to watch the tv for sometime and the reply was an yes. She started moving from channel to channel and she couldn’t concentrate on what she was watching because of the clown statue which was facing directly towards her giving a feel that it was always staring at her. She switched off the tv and really wanted to move the statue or at least place its face towards the other way. She got up from sofa and was walking towards the statue and was about to touch it when she heard the loud ring of the telephone.
She jerked off and ran towards to the phone to pick it only to hear the father’s voice. “I got a few minutes time in this wedding and hence I called to check on the house. so, how is things going?”. she replied, “well, glad you are checking on us sir. Kids slept off an hour ago and things are fine here except the clown statue you have in the corner of your hallway. I have this weird feeling that it is watching at me all the time. If you permit me, I shall move it to the other room until you make home??”. The dad slowly asked, "what is the hell you are talking about?. She replied, "I'm talking about the clown statue that you have in the storage room corner and I'm looking at it right now"
There was a momentary silence for a few seconds and the father screamed into her ears, “There is no clown statue in our house. We never have had any kind of clown statues in our house. Get the hell out of the house as soon as possible. take the kids along with you and get out of the house real soon. I’m calling the cops and we will be there in 30 minutes”. and the call was cut. She took some time to understand what she heard and she just started sweating real hard. She eyed the clown from corner of her eyes. It is still smiling at her. This time, the smile was bigger than she remembered. She ran into the bed rooms as quickly as possible, took the toddler in to her hands, woke up the kids and ran outside as fast as she can looking back.
Now, there was no clown in the place it was supposed to be. She heard the siren of approaching police cars. Her entire body is shivering and shaking when the police approached her and asked for details. they went inside, searched the whole premises but couldn't find anything except the fact that the house has a shattered window at the end of the kitchen and one of their kitchen knives were missing. The cops also informed that there is a serial killer on lose in that vicinity, the clown could have been the killer in disguise. She froze hearing what they said and thanked God like a thousand times because none of them got hurt and cops reached on time. But what was bugging all of them including cops was "where in the hell was the clown gone?"
