Saying Goodbye to The Monkey Shack For the past three months, we lived and thrived in this place. I named it The Monkey Shack. The place is owned by my friend. It’s a 3,000 sq meter property. The place is a few minutes away from the main highway. The graveled road going to the shack is narrow and in between the rice paddies. Although it's a narrow road, it is passable using a four-wheel vehicle. My usual daily routine was waking up at 3:00 am, preparing my partner’s food for the day at work then at 5:30 am I would clean the farm, the pool area, and the function hall. My friend’s place has a lot of plants. Coconut, black pepper, and ornamental plants that I took care of when I was still living in the Monkey Shack. There are also four fish cages with African Hito and two tubs of goldfish. At 3:00 am, Sunday, October 30, we woke up and fixed the remainder of the things that we have. We had our coffee and then we started to move our things out. The previous afternoon, my sister came and loaded up our belongings in her pickup truck. Two storage boxes, our cabinet and a few more things. Well, after three months we left the place because of the opportunity that awaits us in the city. I am also thinking about my partner’s welfare. He worked in the banana plantation, which means he is under constant exposure to chemicals. He got skills and it has been put aside from when he is working on the banana plantation. Also, I wanted to go back to work but every time I talk about it, he would tell me no for an answer. Maybe next month I will try again. Life in the City We sleep late and wake up late. In the shack, we sleep around 7:00 pm and wake up at 3:00 am. People here are still wide awake at 9:00 pm! Well, I am used to it since I am a resident here. My sister has a store and I look after it whenever they need to travel. We live in a separate house a few meters away from m their house. They were able to get this place from their last ng time friend who is having financial issues lately. It is also a three-bedroom house. The two rooms are for rent. We are occupying the living room area and the master bedroom. The house has a division so that the renters can have privacy and the same with us. They have a separate kitchen, bathroom, laundry area, living room, and passage. We also have a commercial space just beside the barbershop. My sister told me that in a few weeks we will open it and sell frozen processed meats, eggs, cooking oil, and a lot more! So I guess I can’t go back to work anymore. Lol! It’s ok, as long as we can save up for our wedding and future. ************************************* Thanks for reading my article! You can find me at noiseapp https://noise.app/TheSaltyLemonade

A Doppelganger Encounter. It’s the time of the year when we get spooked by the stories of the people who experienced weird things around them. Scary things that our logical mind can’t ever explain. My story happened right years ago. I was working as a Facilitator for a Non- Government Organization. We are a team of seven people living in a rented room in a building. We were occupying the room on the ground floor. That’s where we sleep, cook and do our meetings. On weekends, we usually don’t have much to do since we are open from Mondays to Fridays only. Seven people living together is a bit loud. We all go along together and we supported each other. One late weekend afternoon, the two girls and I decided that we go to a internet cafè to catch up with our online friends. After 30 minutes, I got bored because I don’t have a lot of friends to communicate with online. I told them that I will go back to our rented place so I can prepare our dinner. On weekends, there are only a few of us who sleeps there. By that time, we were only three. It’s a walking distance, I started my short walk from the internet cafè. Everything was fine. I arrived at the place and started to cook. It was dusk. Suddenly, there was a blackout. The lights were out so I went outside and waited for my girls to come back since they told me that they will follow me shortly. I was just sitting outside playing with my phone when I saw them walking from a distance. They were walking and talking at the same time. They got nearer and nearer to me, they still kept on talking and not minding me seeing them. I smiled and tried to call out for their attention but it seems like they can’t hear me or see me at all. Before our building, there is an alley. I haven’t checked that area but I saw it once, a dead end. I was confused when they turned that way. Ah-hah! They are going to prank me. That what was I thought at that time. So I played with their prank. I stood up and started to walk towards the alley. I was giggling and called their names. I was expecting them to burst out in laughter, but nobody was in there! It’s a dead end. Maybe there is a way that leads to the back of the building that I don’t know about, but I can see the roof of the house on the other side of the wall! No. Can’t be. There must be something that I missed here. I was confused standing there, trying to figure out their whereabouts. I left the alley and went back to our place, checking the room if they were inside. Nobody was inside! I am all alone. I rushed outside and this time, I saw them walking again from a distance! The same spot where they were walking. I can hear their laughter and their voice! What just happened? My mind was blown! How did they do it?! I asked them where did they go. They laughed and asked me what do I mean by that. I told them that I saw them earlier walking and turned to the alley and was looking for them. They told me that they have just got out of the internet cafè and they weren’t pranking me. We checked the alley and there wasn’t a secret passage. It’s a dead end. It was them! Same clothes, same face, and body! We couldn’t explain what just happened. We all went inside since it was getting dark. The electricity is back! We talked about it while I was there cooking our viand. A doppelganger! We decided to end the discussion and we did not talk about it with the other girls who were not there at that time. We continued to stay in that building for a few more months and left. We didn't come back and transferred to another location. Thanks for reading my article! My Telenovela Like Story Hi, fellow readers and bloggers! I had been taking things at a slow pace recently, maybe because of how things turned recently. Most days I am just playing mobile games, trying to escape the sad feeling and the emotional turmoils that I am experiencing. This is the first and probably the last time that I will be posting this. I figured out that this might help me cope emotionally. It started in March when we moved back here. This is where I grew up, studied, played, and had wonderful friends. At age of 16, I left for college. Years passed and I became a resident of Davao City. My sibling took me, she sent me back to college and supported me until I got the job. On occasion, we would go home here in the province for a quick visit or vacation. I had a life in the city which I liked and I got used to it. My daily routine was work-home-work and occasional movies and eat-outs with friends. The pandemic happened and my life changed instantly. This time, my sister had purchased a farm somewhere in Davao de Oro. On the eve of the nationwide lockdown, they had managed to take me out of the city and hid me for a few weeks at their farm. People coming out of the city were treated as if they got the virus and can infect the community. Lol! I was having anxiety at that time. Months passed and the lockdowns were extended especially for the major cities. I can’t go back to my life! Depression had slowly taken over my life. To fight it, I busied myself. I made a vegetable garden, dug out sweet potatoes and even planted some, and learned how to cultivate corn. Then I met a guy. One of my sister’s farmhands. He is much younger than me. The total opposite of me. He had a simple life on the farm. I am not ashamed to admit that he wasn’t able to finish his basic years of education, because his family wasn’t able to sustain his education. He began working at the age of 12 to help his sick parents. Instantly, we clicked and fell in love. Love truly is unpredictable. We worked together on the farm. My sister had lent us a small portion of land, it has cardava bananas. We toiled the land and cleaned the area. Every two weeks we were harvesting the fruits. Fast forward, our eldest sibling requested us to help her in managing the farm in Cotabato. My partner started to work on the cavendish banana farm, and she got me a job at her store. I was doing the paper works while she is in constant talk with her suppliers and resellers. I was good at it. I was doing fine, but she added new people to her new business. She just put up a new business line just because she saw a good location. Crazy, right? I was shocked when she told me that she got the location and she already hired somebody to look after it. I was like, “wait, what?!” Yes, she did it. The first month of her new business was a disaster. It’s not break-even. It’s a loss. In the second month, she transferred me to her new store. I was looking at the cash-in-flows and out-flows, the second month it’s still losing. Third month and she decided to make it to a snack hub. What?! That means, a lot of work for me. I became a cashier, a cleaner, and a server. I don’t mind it. It’s still a job after all. I was still managing the store on top of the other new roles that I had to do. Things became sketchy for both of us. One small mistake like price tagging, and adjustment and she would humiliate me in our group chat. Like, what the eef?! It’s manageable, there’s no need of humiliating me. She can directly reprimand me. One time, I stood up for myself. Know what she told me? ‘Get used to it. I am your boss and your older sister’. There are also a few occasions that whenever I ask a question, she just gives me that look and would answer me rudely in front of other people and sometimes in front of customers. Worst, I have an asthma attack. I can’t deal much with dust, humid and hot weather. I cried about the abuses that I was hearing from her. My partner wanted me to stop working for her but I told him that I can still tolerate it, until one day I was fed up with all the humiliation she is hurling toward me. She ignored me for one whole day as if I were invincible. So, the next day I didn’t come to work until today. I never spoke to her again. Family members are trying to fix it, but my mind and heart got tired and weary. I had been crying for the first three days and still cry sometimes. I chose a poor guy, and that made me susceptible to insults from my own family. I know he is hurting inside. There are times that I would apologize to him for all the hurt he is feeling inside but he would just hug me even tighter. We will be leaving this place and will start a new life together in the city. We will be putting up a barbershop at home. My sister recently got a new place and she needs someone to live in it. I will be doing a small business at home and at the same time trying to earn a few bucks online. If my plans will fail, I will find a job. As for our planned wedding this coming December, we will postpone it. We got no money to spend, we need to buy additional things he needs at his barbershop. **I don’t have any regrets or feel sorry for myself when I chose him. Money can be found, but loyalty and true love are hard to find. We will grow together as a couple, get rich together as a couple, and see the world together as a couple! As for our eldest sibling, she can go and make herself richer than ever. At the end of the day, money is just money. You can get happy and live comfortably with all the material things but real happiness is finding contentment in small things, appreciating the good and the bad around you, and most importantly, living in harmony with the people that love you. A little act of kindness can make the world a better place for everyone.** Did I make a bad choice? NO, and no further explanation. Love is love. noiseapp https://noise.app/TheSaltyLemonade Thank you for reading!

My Top 1 Animé Movie of All Time. Dragon Balls Z, Street Fighter, Heidi, Voltes V and Slumdunk are few of hundreds anime series that I have watched during my childhood years. I was always in a hurry to go home, so I can watch Voltes V and Gundam series. Of course, it is already dubbed in Tagalog (batang 90’s, relate?). The battle of good and bad. The love and struggle of the characters, and of course, the amazing fights using superpowers! Kame-hame wave!!!!! (Done with hand gestures). As I grew older my fondness hasn’t changed when it comes with animé series and movies. I remember sitting on a couch watching a movie in Disney Channel at 9pm! Well that time, it wasn’t just me sitting there and watching. My nephew already slept that time, but my older sibling was still up, and we found ourselves watching an interesting movie. In Disney Channel. 9:00pm. Well, that movie is one of my favorite! It was the Howl’s Moving Castle. HOWL’s MOVING CASTLE. A film by Studio Ghibli. An animated adaptation of the book titled Howl’s MovingCastle by the British author, Diana Wynne Jones. Directed by Japanese film director Hayao Miyazaki in 2004. Set in the eve of World War I in a far away land in Europe, a clanking castle with a chicken foot was in constant move. Day and night it was traveling through places and places. It has a chimney that is also constantly giving out smokes while it moves. A good-looking wizard is the owner, Howl. The female main character is Sophie, she woke up one day as an old lady because of a spell cast on her by a witch. She ran away and found Howl’s castle in the countryside. She lived there as a house help, and whenever she sleeps, she turns back to her real age. Another interesting character in the film is Calcifer. Calcifer is a fire demon. He didn’t want to die, so he made a deal with Howl. Howl’s heart in exchange for Calcifer’s considerable power. Calcifer became the heart of the castle, the fire made everything work. They are connected in some way, if one will die, the other will also die. Markl is a boy and Howl’s apprentice. Howl found him sleeping at his doorsteps, he told him to get inside and from that moment Markl started to work for Howl. He manages all of Howl’s business whenever he’s not around. He also cleans and take care of the castle. At first, he thought Sophie is another witch trying to barge in to Howl’s life, but on, him and Sophie became good friends. Turnip Head is a cursed prince. He is a two pole scarecrow who helps Sophie . He follows the moving castle and wanders most of the time. At the end, the spell was broken with Sophie’s true love kiss. Hence, the spell will only get broken if he receives a kiss from a girl that he loves. Oh! Silent love. That must be very difficult for him as he can’t speak in a form of a scarecrow. He thanked Sophie and promised to end the war. The story depicts a time during the war. Howl transforms into a montrous bird like creature during battles. The Witch of the Waste and Madame Suliman are the antagonist. The Witch of the Waste is Howl’s ex-girlfriend who wants his heart, and somehow managed to enter the magical castle and figured out that Calcifer is Howl’s heart. Madam Suliman on the other hand is the King’s Sorceress, and was Howl’s teacher. She had seen Howl’s gift and wanted him to he her replacement as the Royal Sorcerer to the King. Howl declined, and that made her angry. She wanted to get Howl’s power and uses the war as an excuse to track down wizards and witches. The Witch of the Waste tried to take Calcifer, and that made her set in fire. Sophie took Calcifer away and everyone out of the Castle. The castle collapsed. Calcifer was slowly dying, and so is Howl. Sophie has the ability to bring things in life. She uses that to free both Calcifer and Howl from their bonded contract. Well, the story did have a happy ending. Sophie and Howl ended up together. Calcifer is enjoying his freedom but still visits the castle from time to time. Markl is still staying with Howl and Sophie and the best thing, the war ended. And oh! They got a new moving castle, up in the air! Why I write? I am not a writer nor an author. I am just somebody making something out of my idle time. Well I got a lot of time now, I might just write a lot of stuff maybe. Maybe? But what topic to write? Right now, I am just doing a free writing. I just let my thoughts and fingers do the job. Why do I write, anyway? Why? I will be a hypocrite if I say I am not writing because of the generosity of the people using this platform. Hello generous people! I write because, I want to do something productive everyday. If not noticed to be rewarded, it’s fine. Really, it’s fine. No hard feelings. At least I am able to express my thoughts and myself without biases and judgements from my readers (I hope I have a reader). Right now, I am sitting here outside, and hearing all the cursing and trash talks of this couple living in the next door. Lol! The P.Is, ogag, yowo and the linti words. Hahaha! I am a bit amused with their unusual ways of talking. Seems like it’s normal for them to talk that way. Geez! I just let them, it’s their life. (So nag chismis pa ako). By the way, I am trying my luck with crypto trading. This is something new to me. I am doing it with Binance. I have not started yet, I am researching and learning few important things like the buy low and sell high, and liquidate. Liquidate is something that I need to avoid. I have a new mantra in life, and it goes like this: “sweetie, if you are scared and unsure of the things that you are going to do, do it anyway. Learnings will follow once you are there”. I believe in my heart that I can do whatever my mind can conceive. Success starts within, when we truly believe in ourselves that we can. To my readers, Thank you for taking to visit my work for today. I appreciate it much!!!!! love, fluffyclouds

If you could travel back in time, where would you go? If you browse the internet and search for the topic time travel, you will find plenty of stories about time traveling. Stories of people doing it. People from the future visiting the present time or even in the past. There are tons of photos and videos that depicts time traveling. People in old photos with modern outfits and sometimes people seemingly using modern gadgets like the smart phone. Is it really possible to do time travel? There already various of people telling that they travelled through time, and one of them is Andrew Carlssin. In 2003, he was arrested by the FBI for suspicious stock trades. Carrlsin confessed that he is from the future, he then offered to say the cure for AIDS and Bin Laden’s location in exchange of allowing him to return to his time traveling machine although he wasn’t cooperative when asked for the location of it. As days passed by, a mysterious man appeared and bailed him out. Carlssin disappeared, and no records of him can be found elsewhere. Image source: https://tinyurl.com/Image-here Wether the story really took place or it was just a fabricated legend, isn’t it a thrill to travel back and forth in time? How does a time traveling machine looks like? What kind of technology does it use? I am not a tech nerd but I will be curios if such thing really exists. Now, let’s go back to the question, “If you could travel back in time, where would you go?” As for me, I have a lot of choices in my mind right now. Maybe I’ll go back to the time when I was 14 years old. I want to see my young self. Encourage her to do better, to study hard and pursue her heart’s desire. I will give her a tight hug that nobody can give, and tell her that she will be fine. *My young self will really be shock maybe. Lol!* Some of us might have things in mind that we would like to change in the past, but what if we can really do that? It will change our entire history. What we are right now will never be the same. It will be a different story with different people around us. Would travel back in time if given a chance to change my future? Definitely not. I want to change a few things in my life from my past, but if that means taking out the person and things that I valued right now, I rather be in the present and continue to live my future with no regrets. “Can I have Your Attention, Please?’’ We use this phrase for an announcement that can change the course of history. Important announcements usually start with this. At work, every time my team lead would stand up and say these words, I knew that there will be an important things that might happen. Just like my last shift at work. I was on a supervisor call (means a customer is looking to speak to a supervisor) when my team lead said “Can I have your attention, please? Finish your calls in five minutes and gather around.” I just looked up, and finished my call as soon as possible. At that time, the Corona Virus has started to dominate the world. I knew what was going to happen then. Other companies are shutting down or limiting their day to day business operations for the safety of their employees, while others were giving hotel accommodations for their employees. Our corporate leaders were scrambling around. Meetings after meetings. Phone calls after phone calls to every available hotels in the city. Almost all of the hotel rooms were fully accommodated for BPO employees. Unfortunately, our company weren’t able to get enough rooms for everyone. They decided to put most of their employees to a no work no pay setup. That was the important announcement that changed my life almost three years ago. That was my last shift. the corona virus made an announcement to humankind, and it change the history. Lately, I had been thinking of going back to BPO. Most of my friends in BPO had been promoted. My former team lead is now an Account Director, a friend is now a Quality Analyst, another friend is now working as a Forecast Analyst. I am happy for them. They worked hard to get to that post. Well, everyone has its own time. For now, I will just make the best of what I currently have. I can’t be like them, I will make my own path to success. thanks for reading!

Who Am I? Who am I? A woman on her 30’s trying to live a happy life. As I was browsing the internet, reading stuff, and looking for inspiration and ideas, I saw this question flashed in one of the websites that I visited. Who am I? I asked myself. One, two, three, four, five…..my mind doesn’t have an answer. I don’t know how to answer this question. I kept on repeating the question in my mind. Who am I? I am Imee (my real name), but I need a deeper answer to that question. My mind still can’t think of anything maybe because I am nothing, but a 30-ish woman with attitude (as they say). Dependent and good for nothing. A fool dreaming for a better life but just hiding away. That is what they think of me. No talent, no skills, and will only rely to my family. My self-esteem and confidence had been trampled. I was shouted and mocked at work- in front of other people. I cried for days. Inpitoed myself tonthe extent that I would like to vanish and end my life so they will realize that they are wrong. Who am I? A garbage. Looking back. I was a happy person. I believe that everything can be learned, attainable and a dreamer. I dreamed of living on my own, which I did achieve but the pandemic happened. Back to zero. I looked for positive reasons in every hardships I encountered in the past, and that made me become better person. Trials and challenges in life? I just smile and tell myself that it too shall pass. Life back then was simple but I was happy. Who am I? I don’t know anymore.

Don’t Try The book. It has been a week since I left my job at my sister’s retail store. Well, since I got a hefty time for myself, I started reading again. I opened my book app, and found an interesting download. I forgot the exact time I downloaded this book. It’s Mark Manson’s “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck”. The first chapter talks about not trying to do something significant to achieve a certain goal in life. An example is the life of Charles Bukowski, a German- American writer. He’d been trying to become a published writer, but his work had always been rejected, until a small publishing house noticed his work. He grabbed the opportunity, left his job in a post office, and became a novelist and poet. Bukowski did not strive to become a winner, to be on top of the chain. Instead, he accepted that he is a loser. His honesty in writing made him great. It’s simple, when we are not trying to be the best of what we do, we do great. If we accept the facts in our life and not confine ourselves to the expectation of the society we live in, we become the best version of ourselves. Society most of the times dictates that we need to be this or that, be the best, be on top and etc! Well, I don’t care. I don’t like stressful and unhealthy relationship. It drains my energy and makes me crazy. It’s not that I can’t handle stress and pressure. I just don’t like the idea of stressing myself to irrelevant things. Live Life to the fullest. When you live up to what people expect you to be, you will never be happy. Accepting yourself and living your life the way you want is happiness. Be yourself, be happy and spread positive vibes!

The Language of Flower Gifting. It is believed that the popularization of flower giving on Valentine’s day began in Europe during 17th to 18th century.  Flowers had a significant part in the human history. The language of flower is known as **Floriography**, and it started during the Victorian Era. We often use flowers to help us convey or express ourselves and emotions. Its beauty and scent captivates us, well, it doesn’t work all the time because we all know that there are also foul- smelling flowers. Of course you won’t give a Rafflesia, it’s the largest flower in the world but you wouldn’t dare giving it because of the smell. No worries, nobody is selling it. Valentine’s Day is approaching real fast and I am sure there are people around here who are now looking for great deals from online flower shops. To save time in choosing which flowers should you give, here are the most popular and bestsellers on Valentine’s Day. I added meanings and what it represents based on my intensive research (well, I did a research). Without further ado, here is the list:  **Roses.** Roses are quite popular specially the red roses. If you want to convey your deep feelings and emotions, it is best to send a bouquet of red roses. *****Red Roses***** means love and it signifies romance and appreciation. *****A combination of Pink and White***** Roses tell the purity of your intention for your future partner while a *****combination of Red and Yellow***** can be your way to tell that she makes the best version of you. *****Lilac roses***** are for marriage proposal. Gifting your special someone with it symbolizes your intentions for the future. *****Pink roses***** means elegance and grace. For sincerity and gratitude, it will be a *****peach roses*****. Best to gift together with your “Thank You” note. *****Orange Rose*****  is for passion and enthusiasm while *****Cream Roses***** means charm and thoughtfulness. If Cupid struck your heart with his golden arrow, it’ll be a *****Lavender Rose*****. That is for love at first sight. If you just met her, it is best to give *****Coral Roses*****, it simply means you are excited for her presence and you want to know her better. *****Hibiscus Rose***** may look simple and common for the occasion but it’s a great choice when you would like to convey your affection and fondness.  Avoid the following colors rose of  during "Valentine’s Day”: ***Light Pink Roses*** for it represents sympathy and adoration. Reserve it to gift for difficult times. The ***White Roses*** represents spiritually. Although it is associated with marriage, white roses actually means “unacquainted with love”. ***Yellow Roses*** is a symbol of friendship but it also means, jealousy and infidelity. You wouldn’t give that to your partner. Peonies. These large layered flowers with sweet fragrance are also perfect to gift this month of love. Peony plants can last a hundred years. It symbolizes love, romance and good fortune, as well as, prosperity, respect, honor a bravery. Carnation. Carnation is derived from two Greek words, 'dios' that refers to the Greek god Zeus, and 'anthos' that means flower. It is known as "the flowers of god". Carnations has a lot of color varieties, so don't just give a purple carnation during the season of love. Here are the colors and the corresponding meanings: White Carnations for pure love and good luck. Dark Red Carnations for deep love and a woman's affection. Light Red Carnations for Admiration Pink Carnation's for motherly love. Striped for regret and refusal (girls, you know what to gift for that annoying suitor). Purple Carnations for Capriciousness (boys, you have now an idea) Yellow Carnation for disappointment and dejection. Tulips. If you would like to treat your love as a royalty, you might consider gifting a *****purple tulip*****. *****Yellow tulips***** symbolizes cheerful and happy thoughts, so if you have someone that makes you smile for just a thought of her, yellow tulip is the best option. *****White tulips***** are for forgiveness. If you aren't sure how to convey your message of forgiveness, you can bring a white tulip for the person who wronged you. Sometimes, we can't speak out what our hearts really wants to tell specially if we are in pain or if we are still hurting inside. Forgiveness if freedom from all the pain and hurt. Sunflowers. Vibrant and lively, bright, cheery and warm. Sunflowers are my personal favorite. It symbolizes longevity, loyalty and adoration. It is known for being a happy flower. If you would like to make somebody's day, gift them with a bunch of sunflowers! Fun fact: sunflowers absorb toxins. Try gifting your partner a bouquet of sunflower to help ease your toxic relationship (just kidding), but who knows?! After all, it's a happy flower. I hope, this will help you out finding that perfect bouquet of flowers for Valentine's Day. Girls, I hope you will not just accept but also do a research after receiving a flower. A person might gift you with a light pink roses with all that adorable smile but unfortunately, it isn't the best thing to gift. Well, as they say "It's the thoughts that count" but unfortunately that doesn't work at all times. So pick that simple Hibiscus Rose from your mother's garden, it's the best option if you are at minimal budget. It's the most underrated flower in my opinion. It's beautiful and it conveys a lot of message. I hope you will have a beautiful Valentine's Day celebration. Don't overspend though. Real love doe not need extravagant dates and gifts. Sincerity and pure intentions can also be shown with our little act of thoughtfulness all year round. I haven’t been so active. The farm is demanding too much of my time. We finished planting the corn seeds today but we immediately went back to the cornfield which we planted a week ago to check if there are missed spots, and yes! There are a lot of missed spots. We had to plant a seed on it again. Crows or chickens might have eaten the seeds. We finished at around 4:00pm. Tomorrow will be a bit relaxed (i hope so). I just remember now that my vegetable garden needs me. Lol! I hope to write a new article tomorrow. I really hope so and finish reading the articles in my notifs. It’s 7:20pm and I am so sleepy, so goodnight and be safe!

Cupid: The Unofficial Mascot of Valentine’s Day It’s the season of the year again for hearts, red flowers, sweets and chocolates, dates, and romantic gestures. Of course, who could set aside the Valentine’s Day figure that is so popular—CUPID. Depicted as a cherub infant carrying a bow and arrows, targeting and shooting people to fall in love or hate each other. Well, it is how we perceived him, but who really Cupid is? In Greek Mythology, he is known as the handsome god of love, Eros. He is a primordial god, the first generation of deities but later on Eros had been associated with Aphrodite as his mother and Ares as his father. Yeah, as a non-Greek individual, I find it confusing and a bit of complicated when I read that Zeus and Hermes could also be Eros’ fathers. I regret now that I did not took seriously my World Literature class back in college. Cupid has two arrows, gold and leaden. Gold to arouse the desire and love, and leaden to drive the desire away. One to cause and other to repel. Eros had been playing the hearts of both mortals and gods using his arrows. The most famous of it was when he struck Apollo with a golden arrow and fell in love with a nymph named Daphne, but Eros struck Daphne with a leaden arrow. Just imagine the pain of Apollo for he will never get the love he desires from Daphne. Oh Eros! His mother Aphrodite, the god of love and beauty had been jealous of the beautiful mortal Psyche. Drunk by her desire to be the fairest among all mortals and immortals, he asked his son Eros to struck Psyche with a golden arrow and make her fall in love with a monster. Eros was captivated with Psyche’s beauty and grace. He married her but she could never see his face, but one night while Eros was asleep, she managed to get a peek on what does her lover looks like. Eros got mad and fled. She looked for him and asked for Aphrodite’s help. As we all know Aphrodite despised her and gave her tasks to make her life miserable while on search for her husband. Well, I think momster-in-law also existed in mythology (hahaha). Eros found Psyche unconscious, he brought her to the world of immortals and introduced her as his lover and wife. She became immortal and lived in Mt. Olympus together with her momster-in-law, but later on they reconciled when Psyche and Eros had a child, Hedone. Cupid/ Eros is not really an infant. I think people way back ages had only visualized Cupid as an infant because of his playfulness with his golden and leaden arrow. His childlike attitude made him look like that. The profit- driven companies had sensationalized Cupid during Valentine’s Day along with the heart shape, flowers and chocolates. This is the reason why I don’t celebrate it. Everyday is a chance of showing our gratitude and love for special people in our life. Everyday is a day of love and appreciation. Big thanks to my lovely and generous sponsors @Jijisaur @Miyuki1991 and @Rezanur . Your sponsorship means a lot to me, thanks for trusting. The Dark Side: Valentine’s Day Red roses, chocolates, cards and couples having a quality time. These are the common things we think of during the 14th day of February each year. A lot of people anticipate this celebration, and preparing for it to make the love of their life feel special. But have you ever wonder the history of the Valentine’s day? Where and when it started? It all started in ancient Rome. A celebration dedicated to the Roman god of agriculture, Faunus, takes place during the month of February. This celebration is called Lupercalia, and also associated with the celebration of the founders of Rome- Remus and Romulus. The celebration begins with the gatherings of priests at the sacred cave where Remus and Romulus to be believed had been cared of a she-wolf. It’s a Pagan festival, so expect for an offering but no worries, it isn’t a human. The priest would offer a goat and a dog. Goat for fertility, and dog for purification. The goat skin will be stripped and dipped into the sacrificial blood then the priest will go to the streets and slap it to the women and crop fields. Roman women don’t have any problem with this for they believed that it makes them more fertile for the years to come. On  same day after the slapping and gentle whipping rituals for the women, they would put their names in the urn. The men will then choose from the names and be paired for that woman for a year and according to history in most cases it ends up in marriage. The Pagan festival survived during the golden age of Christianity. A Pope named Gelasius declared the 14th of February to be a St. Valentine’s Day in honor of the martyrdom of three men named Valentine, who were executed during February 14 of different years. The first Valentine was a Roman priest, the second one was a bishop from Italy and the third was said to be a saint who died on the same day in the Roman Province of Egypt. The evangelization and the conversion to Christianity of Emperor Claudios II was the cause of death of the Roman priest Valentine. Before his execution, he wrote a note to Astrius’ daughter signed “from your Valentine”, which later become an inspiration for the today’s romantic words written on cards. The most remarkable legend behind Saint Valentine, was of him helping Christian couple get married during Christian persecution at the time of Emperor Claudios II. It was considered a crime to help or aide Christian during the reign of Emperor Claudios II. Pope Gelasius I, in hope of eliminating the pagan festival Lupercalia made February 14 as St. Valentine’s Day and that is how the Valentine’s Day was created. There is a bit of shade on how Christian celebrations were made. Valentine’s day is just like the Christmas celebration. We set aside the dark side, and let it be buried in the past. What matters most is the good things that it brings to humankind. Love is the pure act of kindness in humanity. It is compassion in action. A perdurable force that binds every race and life here on Earth. A force that can’t be destroyed. Love endures. sources: *https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Valentine* *https://www.history.com/.amp/topics/valentines-day/history-of-valentines-day-2* *https://www.npr.org/2011/02/14/133693152/the-dark-origins-of-valentines-day*

Farming and the Importance of Good Weather Condition. October last year was the onset of the La Niña phenomenon. Forecast says that it will last until the first quarter of the 2022, that would be until March! Well, it’s February now and I can tell that the weather is getting better and preferable. It still rains but unlike in the last quarter of 2021, the sun shows up and the rain isn’t as heavy as the previous months. *La Niña is a weather phenomenon that characterize the increase and unusual oceanic temperature in the Pacific Ocean. It brings a lot of rain and tropical storms.* Too much water isn’t good for the plants. We waited for a days and even months to have a better weather. Less rain and plenty of sunshine to start planting. Yesterday, after three weeks of land preparation we planted the corn seeds. With the help of the carabao, we plowed, harrowed and furrowed the soil. The area was once a cardava banana field. It’s a 5000 sq.meter piece of land. After 12 days we’ll apply a fertilizer to help the corn gain more nutrients to grow. *The counterpart of La Niña is El Niño. The surface water in the Pacific Ocean is unusually warm thus bringing less to no rain in the region.* Depending on the variety, it would take 90 to 115 days from planting to harvest the corn. Ours will be used for corn feeds. A buyer will come and pick it. They will process it to become corn grits and feeds for the fowls and poultry animals. As scheduled, we’ll plant at a different area on Friday. It’s a 7000sq.meter piece of land area with calamansi plants in it. We’ll do intercropping as to not waste time while waiting for the calamansi plants to mature and bear fruits. We planted it last year. The area had been cleaned, and it’s ready for planting. Extreme weather conditions like the La Niña and the El Niño greatly affects the farmers. Farmers need to adapt with the weather for planting. A perfect timing is the key to get a good harvest. That can be done by checking the weather forecasts and be updated. Source: *https://www.nationalgeographic.org/encyclopedia* That’s all for today from your friendly farmer. Be safe and stay healthy!

The Choices I Had After High School When I was 16 years old, me and my cousin had a serious talk of what we want to become in the future. She asked me of what will be my course in college. Honestly, that time I don’t have an idea but I always wanted to be a teacher when I was a kid. I even taught the kids in our neighbor the alphabet before they entered prep school. I was at high school when I did that. Then I became a catechist at our local church. I taught young people about the basic Catholic Church Doctrines with trainings facilitated by our Parish. A teacher maybe? But my sister told me that if I become a teacher, I’ll be back at school until I am old. I wish I did not listen to her. My second choice was a Degree in Psychology. I had always been interested with people’s behaviors and traits, and why people think the way they do. At high school, I was reading my sister’s book in Psychology. She had a psychology subject in college, and every weekend when she was at home, I would borrow her book, and scan through it and read. The thought of not getting a job in future hindered me to get a Degree in Psychology. I was scared that employers will have to ask why I took Psychology when in fact I will be applying for a corporate job. I wish I listened to my heart. My third choice was either Agriculture or Business course. I grew up in a farm and I like farming but getting a job with a Degree in Agriculture is tough, and that left me with a Business Education course. I thought I can land an easy job if I take a Business course. I took Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business during my second year in college. I spent my first year in the University in the College of Engineering and Computing. For two years, I dedicated my time and myself studying the subjects offered in the syllabus for BS AgBus. On my fourth year, my family experienced a financial problem that led me to left my schooling. I looked for a job and I became a sales agent for Circuit City in Davao. I think all of the branches in Davao are all closed by now. They sell electronic game consoles like Gameboy, Nintendo Wii, Playstations, PSP’s and accessories for the consoles. After a year, I got enough money to enroll myself back to college.I took Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management. In one semester I took three major subjects. Imagine the stress and pressure I had during the semester. Advertising, Marketing Research and Product Management. Print ads, radio and TV ads, doing the Marketing Research and at the same time developing a prototype of the products and countless presentations in one semester. I remembered crying during the last week of the semester. Deadlines! The dreadful last week of the term. It was raining hard and I was absent for all of my classes that day because I was revising and reprinting all of my Marketing Research papers. By 7:00pm, the final output should be submitted. I was soaking wet with rain water and my shoes were broken. I couldn’t blame anyone, it was my decision to take all three major subjects! My professor was our dean for Marketing Research and deadline for her is deadline, no extensions. The happiness and the relief I felt when she finally accepted my paper was one of the happiest and unforgettable moments I had back when I was in college. After my college, I worked for a Non-Government Organization that aims to alleviate life of the countryside women’s organizations. I trained them to do business and taught them skills for food processing. For almost a year of traveling to different places in the country, I went home. I put up a small business at home but I failed. Then applied for a job in a BPO, and worked for years. I guess I am one of the few people who got a favorable situation during this pandemic. I left the city and started a new life in a farm. I became a farmer, and I found love and happiness. Realizations The course or the degree that you will be taking in college is not a guarantee that you will land a job on the specific field that you will study. My advice for the upcoming college freshies is that, know what your heart really want to become in the future. Work for it. Get a degree and familiarize yourself with the theories and principles. Excellent grades may help you find a job but always remember that your values and outlook in life will bring you success. The hardships and challenges in your college days are the pillars for you to become a strong person in the future. Do not give up when you feel down. In difficult times you gain wisdom and learn lessons that will help you overcome whatever roadblocks you will face in your journey to success. Do not stress yourself too much, enjoy your college days but don’t forget your responsibilities in school. And most of all, don’t be afraid of the future. Take risks, and if it’ll fail, learn from it and be better next time.

Road Trip 2022 Friday. January 21, 2022 We left our home here in New Bataan, Davao de Oro at around 10:00am, because we’ll be staying overnight at our Nanay’s place in North Cotabato. Of course, we finished everything that needs to be done here at the farm before going for a vacation. We asked our neighbor to fed our three doggos while we were gone, which she happily agreed because she loves our pets too! Sometimes she would call them at their house and feed them for no reason. We had a few stop while we were on our way to North Cotabato. We ate our lunch at Panabo City in our favorite bulalo restaurant which is just at the back of the public terminal. Another stop at Davao City to get the package and farm inputs. I was expecting to visit our house and grab a few stuff but we were running out of time. Traveling without something to munch is boring, so we bought some peanuts while we were filling up the gasoline tank. I like steamed peanuts! I fell asleep until we reached Digos City. Digos City is popular for claypots and urns, and also for their delicious bibingka. We arrived at M’lang, North Cotabato at around 3:00pm. We stopped by at the front of Southern Baptist College to have a refreshing drink of buko juice. Their version of buko is absolutely the best! No wonder why a lot of people are coming in to their spot to get a glass of their refreshing buko juice. Well, we arrived at home and rested. Our eldest is at her store in the public market. We borrowed our uncle’s motorbike. I raided her store, haha! She is an online seller. She sells beauty products, treats, fashion accessories and a lot more! She is even selling our Nanay’s plants. We went to our Municipal plaza and reminisced my childhood days. Our town is the first town to garner the award for the cleanest and greenest Municipality in the country in 1994. I grew up and studied here, I know the shortcuts and every streets but we were surprised by a police checkpoint when we were trying to pass by the public market. Haha! And they were questioning every bikers passing by. Luckily, a lady blocked us from the police officer who were at that time questioning another biker just a meter away from us. The lady told us to come with her and she led us into a parking area. We got off the motorbike and walked away. I studied the surrounding and checked the other street. It’s clear! A few minutes later, we drove away and took an alternate route until we reached our house. We stayed there until evening, and we slept early. My sister told me that we were lucky, the violation payment was ₱1500. We don’t have any documents with us when we drove the motorbike. Saturday. January 22, 2022 Our Nanay was already awake at 1:00am and she already cooked our rice! We packed it using the banana leaves. We woke up at 2:00 and we prepared our things and food for our trip. I ate rice and had a cup of coffee. We started our long day of travel by 3:30am. We passed by the province of Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato. At 5:30 am, we arrived at Strawberry-Guyabano Farm at Tupi, South Cotabato. Their opening time is 6:00am but the guards allowed us to enter 10 minutes before 6:00am. It is situated at the foot of Mt. Matutum. The place was cold and beautiful! They have overnight cottages and a coffee shop. At the entrance, you can already tell that the place is Instagramable. Beautiful flowers and spacious environment. It was like walking in a dreamland. We had our coffee and then we headed further south to Saranggani Province. We passed by the General Santos City, and as usual I became a human GPS. That always happen when we are traveling specially if we are not sure of our way. Of course, Google Map always helps. That’s us! Well, I am not included in the photo. Aside from being a human GPS, I am also their official photographer. That’s at the entrance of the Saranggani Province. At 8:00am, we felt hungry but we were still traveling so we all agreed to look for a stop along the road so we can eat. It was like having a picnic. We were really hungry. A few minutes after we ate our breakfast, we arrived at the Municipality of Glan. We bought a few stuff and some dried fish in the public market, then we headed to our final destination. It was almost one hour drive from the town proper going to Bato Buri Beach Resort. We needed to ride on a boat to get to the resort. It was just five to ten minutes boat ride. Bato Buri Beach Resort Looking for a summer destination? A beach maybe? The Municipality of Glan in Saranggani Province has a lot to offer! Saranggani Province is part of the SOCCSKSARGEN Region in Mindanao (Region 12). Formerly known as Central Mindanao. Glan is known for its beautiful white sand beaches. People in the region usually go to Saranggani or in the nearby province of Davao del Sur to enjoy the beach. My sister picked Saranggani as our destination for my brother-in-law’s birthday celebration. We set foot on a clear and clean water of the Bato Buri Beach by lunch. It’s a hidden cove with white sand and calm waves. We ate lunch and then enjoyed the water! We were lucky that day because we were their only guest. We weren’t afraid for the safety of the kids because we can easily locate them. They enjoyed too much, and the only time they stop was when the tide began to rise. A fisherman came by and offered us these fresh catch but we already bought from the market. That’s our cottage! The one at the back. It can accommodate up to 20 people. You need to climb up in the cliff to get there. The owner only used native and natural materials to develop the place. The government is regulating the development of the place and wanted to preserve the area. The owner was very accommodating and kind. She always checked on us, asking us if we needed anything. She even offered us extra mattresses to use. I felt asleep on a hammock while listening to the waves crashing. Warm and salty air on my face. Sunset is my favorite time of the day. I took this on the pier and it has a swing! What a beautiful way to end the day. At night we decided to sleep early as everyone was tired and sleepy. I woke up at 4:00am, and as usual, our Nanay is already cooking our rice. Hahaha! We headed back to the port at 7:00am. And travelled back home. Sunday. January 23, 2022 The way back was easy and fast. We were back at the town proper of Glan at around 8:00am. We stopped by at this small balbacuahan and kambingan eatery along the highway. The owner was generous, one serve of balbacua is ₱50! And it’s already good for two people. If you happen to visit Glan, please stop by this humble eatery. Their food is delicious. After we ate our breakfast, we decided to stop by the GenSan public market to buy fresh catch! Fresh fishes are everywhere and it’s affordable. We bought plenty of fish and I think it’ll last for more than a week. From GenSan public market up to their rotunda, I navigated our trip. We needed to take an alternate route to avoid traffic. From the rotunda up to the Municipality of President Quirino in Sultan Kudarat, I slept. We arrived back in M’lang, North Cotabato at past 12noon. We cooked and ate lunch. At past 2:00pm we started our trip going back here at New Bataan, Davao de Oro. In one day, we travelled through seven provinces. We arrived safely at home past six in the evening. It was a tiring trip but fun and memorable.

Disney’s Encanto, Worth to Watch? Encanto is a movie produced by Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture in 2021. It is an animated film set in a rural area in Colombia. The story revolves around the Madrigal family. A family that had been gifted with a ‘miracle’. Each family member had a unique ‘miracle’ that helps their small community thrive. Everyone in the family has a gift, well, except for Mirable who mysteriously did not receive a gift. The gift or the ‘miracle’ is coming from a magical candle that has been lit for 50 years and never goes out. Each Madrigal child at age of five received their gift or miracle. Here is the list of Madrigal children and their gifts: Bruno- the power to see things in the future. Pepa- the gift to control the weather based on her emotions. Julieta- the gift to heal people using the food she makes. Grandchildrens: Isabela- Julieta's eldest daughter has the ability to conjure beautiful flowers anytime. Luisita- Julieta's second daughter has a super strength. Mirabel- youngest daughter of Julieta, did not receive a gift. Dolores- Pepa's daughter had been gifted to hear extraordinarily. Camilo- got the power to shapeshift Antonio- the youngest of the Madrigals has the ability to understand the animals. Mirabel, the main character of the movie had to solve the mystery and save the family's magic. She got into her Uncle Bruno's room to get a clue but found pieces of jade puzzle with her image in it. She had then found out that her Uncle Bruno did not leave the Casita but lived beneath the walls for years and secretly watch the family. His gift of premonition had made him distant from the family. Bruno had to make a ritual to seek solution for the great problem that the family is facing. In the premonition, in order to stop the magic from fading away, and keep the candle lighted at all times, Mirabel should make her peace with her older sister Isabela. Sure she was able to do that, but Alma, the matriarch wasn't happy about it. Isabela is a perfect woman of grace and beauty. She is set to get married to Mariano, a rich guy from their village. The confrontation between Mirabel and Alma had costed them their 'miracles'. The Casita had been destroyed, and their powers are all gone. Mirabel runaway but Alma was able to find her in the lake. Mirabel saw everything that happened in the past including the dreadful night Pedro died. They make their peace and went back to the village with Bruno. They built the Casita for days with the help of locals. On the day the Casita is ready, Mirabel, put on the door knob and right then the magic happened. Each 'miracles' had been restored, and the magical Casita had welcomed the family and the whole town people once again. LESSONS FROM EACH CHARACTER Abuelo Pedro. Sacrificing oneself for the good of many. Difficult times bring out the best in us. In times of danger and adversity, it is the love for our family that will make us do things beyond our capacity. Abuela Alma. Be a giving person. Share to the community the gift that had been given to us for the common good. Although Abuela Alma had been strict and mean sometimes, she only did those to protect the magic and the family. In the end, she was able to acknowledge her mistakes. Love, family and acceptance are the main theme of the movie. Acceptance that each of us is a unique piece of puzzle that makes our family complete. Mirabel hadn’t received a gift but her parents always reminded her that she is as special as anyone else. She hid her insecurity and fears. For years, she lived for a fact that she doesn’t have a gift to help her family and the community, but that didn’t made her a bitter person. She accepted it and rejoiced for the other members of the family. Is it worth to watch? In my opinion, yes! The movie discusses issues that most of us set aside because we all thought that it isn’t worthy to be talked about. We often take for granted the people with strength and power, base upon the story of Luisita.

Oh no! I wasn’t able to publish since yesterday. I had been busy with all the work here at the farm. We have to finish everything before we take a short vacation in the beach. We’ll be traveling tomorrow and will be back on Sunday. I’ll try to revise the article I drafted and publish it tonight. I hope everyone is doing great!

Framed Memories Hi folks! It’s me again, the FluffyClouds up in the sky. I came across with a cool topic to write made by a person with a great mind (sipsip eh! 😅) @meitanteikudo Time for a Gallery Raid! Let’s start! The Oldest Photo. Taken November 2,2019. In 2019, Mindanao had experienced a series of strong earthquakes. I worked in a call center for a car rental company (HERTZ). The 12- storey building where our office was located had cracks everywhere. In this photo, we were temporarily relocated to another site, only for three night shifts. This was the last day of our shift before our rest day, we decided to take a photo outside of the two-story building before going home. I no longer work in a call center, I left when the pandemic happened. LATEST PHOTO Taken today after the rain. I couldn’t count how many times it rained today. We got a bad weather here in Mindanao, it’s raining almost everyday. I din’t know the name of this flower. My sister is a plantita and this is one of her collection. I am not fond of planting flowers, but I like planting vegetables. I became a farmer in 2020, when the pandemic happened. WEIRD PHOTO A random photo of my 10-year-old niece under the table while watching We Bare Bears. I don’t know what got into her mind, and she sat there. She saw me taking a picture of here that’s why she’s smiling. She thinks of herself as a kitty. Sometimes she would scratch my hands and act like a cat. In return, I’ll pat her head and call her ‘mingkay’ or ‘miming’. Sweet, caring and she obeys me. Recently, I taught her how to send a text message using her phone, which I regretted because she’s texting me random stuff like “kitty, kitty. Meow, meow” and other nonsense and annoying stuff. Hahaha! I love her and she is the only niece that I got. She’s responsible, she got an old ref filled with fish which she fed every morning when she wakes up. GROUFIE! This was our last beach bonding as a team. I worked for TiVo for three years as their chat and email support agent. Our Team Supervisor was leaving us because she found better opportunities for her career growth. We arranged an island hopping activity as our farewell party for her. This was at the Island Garden City of Samal, just a few minutes of ferry ride from Davao City. This was in 2019, our Supervisor pirated me to her new company later that year. Hahaha! THE BEST PHOTO This I say is my best photo. I always liked to have a photo of me under the rainbow. It just feel magical and cool. We were on our way home from the river when we saw this perfect rainbow! Ah! That magical moment. I was happy that afternoon. I felt like I was in a different world. THE FOOD THAT I WANT TO EAT AGAIN Nacar Batchoy of M’lang, North Cotabato. In my opinion, this is the most tasty and delicious batchoy in the whole batchoy kingdom! I grew up with it, and every time I have a chance to get home, it’s my first stop in our hometown. The black thing on the top is a mixture of fried garlic and spring onions. My sister was their employee before and she knows their secret recipe. Sometimes my sister would make this and the taste is almost the same. Tye difference might just be the broth. The best partner for this delicious batchoy is their home-made banana muffin. I miss this! PLACE I WANT TO VISIT AGAIN My bedroom in our house at Davao City. This was taken before the lockdown in March of 2020. Our office was in chaos days before the lockdown. The management couldn’t get any hotel for our accommodation because all of the hotels in Davao were in full capacity. I volunteered to give my slot for those who were just renting in Davao, they can’t afford a rent without a salary. I texted my sister about my situation, and without a hesitation, they drove to Davao to get me but the borders were strict and had a long queue. It would be faster if I can get out of the city using the public transport. They picked me up at the Tagum City and we drove back here in the farm. After almost two years, I am still here. I miss my bedroom. The smell of fabric conditioner all over the room! I change my beddings every weekend. I like to sleep with fresh sheets and pillow cases. It’s like my place of peace and comfort. On my day offs, I would just lay on my bed after I woke up and watch Netflix. I’ll only get out and go to the kitchen once my tummy starts to rumble. Of course, I’ll just heat the food which I bought before I went home. Ahhhh! I want to be there again, sleep at least a night. Right now, we got a family living in there for free. All they need to do is to take care of our stuff and of course pay their own electricity bill. I lived alone for four years, I liked the freedom and the adventures that I had. It wasn’t easy because I needed to take care of myself and be responsible for everything. There was a time I got sick, and nobody was there to take care of me. The cost of being choosing to be an independent person. Lol! BEACH I have never been to a beach for two years. This photo was taken back in 2018 when we had our family vacation at Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat. It was sunset when we crossed the from the main island to the island where we spent the night. White sand, clear blue water and just a few people at the beach. THE MOST MEMORABLE PHOTO My family. This was during our family reunion. We are complete in this photo. My two older sisters with their families, my Nanay and Uncle and me! CLOSING NOTES You may have wondered why my oldest photo is in 2019 but I still got photos in 2018, well, those are from my Facebook, and I just downloaded it. I changed my phone in 2019 and I like to keep beautiful and memorable photos in my phone even if it means downloading it from my Facebook. You can also try to do this prompt for your next article. I hope you enjoyed reading it! *Big thanks to my new sponsor* @Rezanur*. It means a lot!*

The Maguad Sibling Case and The Philippine Juvenile Justice System December 10, 2021 At around 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon Facebook post had shocked the small town of M’lang North Cotabato. A girl age 16, pleading for help in the social media. She said that there were three men entered their residence, and ransacked the house. The homeowner arrived 15minutes later followed by the police authorities. Two lifeless bodies were on the floor. They were his children. All he could say was “Officer, my kids are gone”, as he wept outside of their residence. The girl who posted on the social media asking for help was their working student. They took her in, fed her, treated her as their own and gave her opportunities. The police officer escorted her outside of the house as they processed the lifeless bodies. They considered her as the survivor of a crime committed in a broad daylight at their own home. She was in a state of shock and was silent. The Vice Mayor of the town took her into his custody. Family and friends mourned, crying for justice. Local news agency began covering the case. People begun to notice the different statements, and the oddity of the survivor. She called the mourning parents ‘Mama’ and ‘Papa’, which she never did in the past. Days later, the ‘survivor’ confessed to her lawyer that she killed the siblings. A case had been filed. On a separate incident, a guy, aged 17 had been arrested for illegal position of dangerous drugs in a nearby city. The police recovered the missing cellular phone of the female victim which the parents were able to identify using the box of the cellphone. The serial number matched. A case had been filed in the court for the two suspects. They are currently under the custody of the DSWD. What’s next? In an interview with the Maguad couple, they said that Christmas and New Year celebrations will never be the same again. They said on New Year’s eve, they just slept all night. Imagine the pain of two loving parents who lost their children because of greed and jealousy. While Republic Act 9344 or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act has a positive impact for children at risks, it prevents the minor offender to be jailed. This law has two main focus, the children at risk and the children in conflict with the law. Children at risk are the ones who are vulnerable for abuse while the children in conflict with the law are the ones who had committed a crime. I think the lawmakers did only think of the petty crimes committed but haven't considered the possibility of a kid to commit a heinous crime like murder and rape. The best interest of the child will always prevail. The state will protect and rehabilitate the child no matter what the crime committed under the supervision of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The minimum age of criminal liability is 15 years old, the child will be under the intervention program but if above 15 and below 18, the child shall be subjected to proper court proceedings if found that he/she acted with discernment. The exemption from criminal liability in RA9344 does not include exemption from civil liability. Will the Maguad couple get the justice they deserve for their kids? My guts says yes and I am really hoping and praying for it. The female child is a close friend of my nephew. What really amazes me are the parents. They are willing to forgive the perpetrators for what they have done but of course, they still need to face the consequence of their actions. They still long for their kids everyday, and everyday they are praying and hoping to see them in their dreams. As for the family of the female suspect, the mother and sister were able to reach out to the Maguad parents. The mother asked for forgiveness and even kneeled asking for forgiveness. I think she was really hurt for what her daughter did to the two victims was extremely ashamed about it. Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer or a law expert. This is just my thoughts and my perspective about the case. You can read more about the Juvenile Justice Act in the links below. What is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome? I was 22 years old when I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). To give you an overview of what it is, it happens in women wherein the ovaries produce an abnormal amount of androgens. Androgens are male hormones but also present in women in small amount. Symptoms of PCOS are as follows: Irregular to no periods fertility problems weight gain acne and oily skin excessive hair growth on face, chest, and back It starts during the adolescence years or right after the first period of a woman, but it can also develop at ages 20 to 3o. World Health Organization says that an estimated 116 million of women population are suffering and affected by PCOS. Latin America has the most number of cases in 2017 and followed by Asia Pacific countries. There is no cure yet for PCOS but the symptoms can be managed. Birth control pills help to control the menstrual cycle, and it lowers the androgen that the ovaries produce. People with PCOS are prone to diabetes, it is advisable to manage the carbohydrate intakes as well as glucose consumption. A balance and heathy diet helps to control and manage weight gain. As a person with PCOS, it is difficult. I experienced two months of bleeding, nausea, and I gained weight for over the years. For this year, I will focus more on the food intake that I have in a daily basis. Moderation is the key to a healthy self. By the way, if in case you see fat girls, please don't make fun of them. They might too suffer from this condition. A little compassion and kindness can make this world a better place. sources: *https://www.sciencedirect.com* *https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/polycystic-ovary-syndrome-pcos/symptoms/*

Bullied. *Hi there! My apologies for being inactive for weeks. A lot of things happened. I finally introduced my boyfriend to my family, and that means traveling to our hometown. For almost two years, I came home with a guy beside me. Well, I am back now. And will continue telling you stories about my life, and everything under the sun. I hope everyone is doing fine!* I had been bullied all my life. `You have big eyes.` `You are poor. Why are you here in a private school?` `Your bangs s*cks.` `You are not good enough.` `Your fashion statement is horrible.` `You are ugly.` `Fat.` Those were the common things people tell me. Lately, it’s more of “Why are you fat? You were skinny before”. Honestly, I am no longer happy with it. I don’t know if how long can I hold on to myself. I am losing it. Instead of asking how I am doing with my life, people would directly say on my face that I am fat and big. I am 34 years old, 5ft. and 3inches in height, and 66kg in weight. Is that fat or obese? If it is, is it too much? It is depressing whenever I hear people commenting on me. I just wish that they ask first about my mental health condition. I had been through a lot since I was a kid. Waking up in the middle of the night remembering words like “Fat” and “Ugly”, makes me cry. I just wanted to disappear. To live alone, away from them. There was a time, not just once or twice that I wanted to die so to at least I can hurt them back and maybe they can say good things for me on my funeral. Times that I was starving myself or hide while I eat. They laugh when I eat. Yes, telling me to not eat a lot even if my plate isn’t full of food. I remember crying at work because I overhear my colleagues talking about how I dress. They were men. I usually wear long sleeve top to look formal. I don’t wear body fit clothes. Flat shoes, jeans and a pony tail hair. No lipsticks, no make up and I don’t do my eyebrows. I didn’t care what others may think of how I style myself. I look decent and clean, that what was I thought. It hurt my ego when I heard them, of all the people in the office? Men? I lost my confidence. I became distant and silent. Every time there was an after work party, I chose to go home and sleep. I can’t face the same people who ridiculed me. People, a little compassion and kindness won’t hurt your ego. If you have nothing nice to say, well at least just shut your mouth to avoid hurting people. You might not know what a person is going through. The girl you call fat might starving herself in desperation to lose weight. The person you call ugly might trying hard to improve herself but forgetting her self-worth just to fit in to your standards. Why can’t we just live a life full of compassion and love? Nobody is perfect and flawless. We are just humans and are all equal.

Halloween Memories Halloween is far different from what we see in urban cities compared to rural areas. Growing in a farm, November 1 and 2 were dedicated to family gatherings, prayer and food. FAMILY GATHERINGS AND TRADITION The first day of November is usually spent at home. Children were playing, and adults busy with the food preparation. It is the time of the year dedicated to remember our departed love ones. I remember as a kid looking for the biggest green papaya. We would carved it with eyes and fangs. When the night comes, we would lit a candle, and put it inside the carved papaya and position it along the graveled road hoping it could scare somebody passing by. At dusk, family members start to arrive for a family prayer led by our Lola but before the prayer, we would make a ‘halad’ or offering. A separate bowl of rice topped with salt wrapped in a banana leaf is served inside a room and nobody is allowed to enter it. Along with the rice comes other food like biko, kalamay-hati, ibos, suman and variety of viands cooked at home. A wine (coconut wine or shoktong) and glass of water are also included, and sometimes beer too! It is believed that our loved ones would come and eat it. Well, if you happen to watch the movie Coco, they also do the ‘halad’. A prayer in Latin The night is not complete without a prayer in Latin led by our Lola. She had this booklet and rosary that she uses when she do the prayer that usually lasts for an hour. Actually, it is a mixed of Hiligaynon and Latin. I know how to respond to the prayer when I was a kid. Even the Latin response. Our Lola taught us that but unfortunately, I can no longer recall it. Nobody in the family was able to do the prayer when our Lola passed away. Food! This a festival for rice cakes and dishes! The famous in my opinion is the ibos. Wrapped in coconut leaf and cooked for hours! Of course, I would say that my mother cooks the best ibos in town! My least favorite is suman. I don’t know but I wasn’t a fan of suman ever since. Food and family always come together during Halloween. November 2 The day is usually spent in the cemetery to visit our loved ones. We offer prayers and lit a kindle for their soul to find the path of light and peace. Cemeteries are fully packed! Families bringing food and greeting everyone they haven’t seen for a year or so. It is the place that I least like. It’s a sad place for me. Nowadays, traditions are considered as the old thing in the past. No more papaya monsters, halad, Latin prayers and with the recent events, no more visitations in cemetery. The old days are better I guess. Life then was simple but full of happiness and love. Happy Halloween and take care! *Thanks to my dear sponsors and I hope you take a time to visit their profile as well and read their amazing content!*

I lost my hard earned money Lately, I felt a bit down and I am starting to pity myself again. My thoughts are black and I am not talking about it with my boyfriend. I don’t want him to worry. In time I know that everything will be alright. So here’s what happened today. I have a pouch with a money in it which I just put outside. That’s the money I am getting from selling vegetables and other farm produce. I have been doing it since last year, I mean leaving my pouch outside in our terrace on a round glass table. A separate plastic blue glass is also on the table where I put the coins so I can easily get a change. I was busy the whole morning cleaning the house from inside and out then proceeded to wrap in newspaper the young fruits of the bittergourd plant. After that, I took a bath cleaned a few more spot outside. I had to go to my boyfriend in the field to get him from there at 10:30am, and so I went and found him at his brother’s house cooking bananas. Since they don’t have “bagoong”and calamansi I told them to get at home and be back. I used the bicycle when I went back there and ate the banana with them. Me and my boyfriend went home at almost 12noon with our tummy full and happy. We ate last at around 2:00pm and had a nap. At around 3:00pm we went to the garden to make a new ‘house’ (expansion) for our bittergourd plants. By this time, we left our phones in the terrace along with the pouch with the money inside. I know and I clearly remember that the money is inside the pouch before we went to the garden. I saw it! My nephew was inside of our house. Nobody came. I have been leaving my things in our terrace since the day I came here. Laptop, cellphones, and money but nobody was stealing it. When we came back from the garden, I checked my pouch, and to my surprise, the money are all gone! The two smart phones are still there along with a keypad phone, and the money inside the blue glass. I went to my sister to ask if she borrowed it. She said no and told her that my money is missing. She usually borrow money from my pouch every time she doesn’t have change. We checked everything but the money is gone. I felt sad. It was a hard-earned money. Months of tending our banana farm and vegetable garden. All gone. I don’t feel angry. I always told myself in the past that it is just a money and I can still earn it. My boyfriend is a bit angry to whoever took it. We don’t have a clue. I just hope that the money will be use to buy food or medicine. I just think that my money helped someone in need. The person may have done the wrong thing but I still hope and think that somehow my hard earned money had at least helped him or her. This is my first time losing a money. By the way, yesterday when we went to our banana field where we also planted a few pumpkin, we found out that there are also missing fruits and we saw a cut in the stem and the person used a knife to cut it. We don’t use sharp objects when we harvest it. I just told myself that at least my pumpkin had helped a hungry person to have food in his/her tummy. I hoped so. From everything that happened today, I know that this is still a blessing. I don’t feel angry but I do feel sad. I give and help everyone that is in need to the best that I can do, but I think it isn’t enough maybe. Everything will be alright in time.

A spine chilling web series: The Walten Files (TAPE 1) If you are for a spine chilling and not a fan of jump scare horror movie or series, then this might be for you. Few days back while browsing the YouTube, I came across with a reaction channel named *Loey Lane*. I have seen her previous videos reacting to horror and creepy things she found in the internet. The story of the **Walten Files** is one of the many compelling videos she had ever done. She made two reaction videos for the Walten Files and I've watched it. I tried to search for other videos regarding it and I came to the *Martin Walls* channel and there I got the unedited videos. He is the original uploader of the videos. Uploaded in April 27, 2020 with 5,964,807 views as I write this article. The first tape is 10 minutes and 19 seconds long. Walten files has three tapes and this is the first. Below is the description of the uploaded video. "Tape 1: This is a compilation of Tapes created by the already extinct Bunny Smiles Company I tried to get as much info as I could about what these tapes are, all I could find was that these tapes were handed to new employees back in 1974-1979 the rest of the tapes seem to be recorded by a new "Facility Caretaker" in the year 1982, Hopefully, I can find more tapes soon. -Anthony" The video starts with a company logo of **BON'S BURGER**. It described its purpose as the introductory tape for a new job as a Technical Support and Maintenance, and further explained the job description and the importance of it. Let's take a brief look as the history of the **Bon's Restaurant**. Created by **Bunny Smiles Incorporated (BSI),** and started its operation on June 28, 1974 up to July 20, 1974 in Michigan. The overall look of the informational video so far is great, and nothing weird happening to it. The first jingle is quite catchy, and it had lively vibe then it switched to a song "How much is that doggy in the window" with the characters being flashed one by one in a 2D image. Those are weird looking characters and I personally say creepy characters singing the song. Then the song changed to "Old Macdonald" song that we all know very well. At around -8: 32 mark, there was this weird sound of animal playing along with the old Macdonald song that lasted for about three seconds. The video then introduced the characters: **Bon, Sha, Boozoo and Banny.** **Bon** is the face of the Bon’s burger, he is blue and wears a red necktie. **Boozoo** is circus man with a mustache. **Banny** is a purple rabbit with pink tie. **Sha** is a sheep. These characters were created to entertain children. The video further explains the responsibilities of being the care taker of the facility such and cleaning, maintenance and repairs, and how to get used to the BSI technology. Then a message from the founders, ***Jack Walten*** and ***Felix Kranken*** telling the new employees that ratings and money are not they were after for but a great experience at work is what they look forward to. A few more words of encouragement then the screen switched to an image of a storage facility with a caption that reads below: Save, restore, secure! The BSI Storage Facility, also known asK-9 is a Company Project to Storage all valuable items From the “Closes for Good” Bon’s Burger’s Restaurant. Given the situations about the incidents inside 1974 Bon’s Burger LOCATION, any types of Props, Animatronics and Arcade Machines will be Carefully Moved, Inspected and Secured Inside a Bunker Located deep down in Saint Juana’s Forest for Good. A FACILITY CARETAKER will take Care of Securing the Facility and Keeping it Safe and Working Properly. *Question: What was the incident that happened in 1974 that caused Bon’s to close and kept all its property in a deep forest?* Then, a black screen and dead silence for about seven seconds. If I were to make a company introduction video, I wouldn't allow even a second of dead air. Bon showed up with an inaudible background. A reversed audio that if we put it the right way it says: ***“You finally start to remember that old day, they will look out for you soon.”*** Who is the person in audio referring to? This is just the start of the many mysterious messages and glitches in the video. Next is a cartoon video that shows Bon having a sleepover party with his friends. In the cartoon video, Bon is telling a list of all his friends invited to his party. **Sha**, **Boozoo** and **Billy** (the clown). It was repeated to remind us who were the people invited with their pictures on the screen with Bon but when it came to Billy's picture, Bon's eyes went hollow and the photo of Billy on the screen is no longer a clown's photo but a real human's photo in black and white! And the narrator didn't mention the name of Billy. It just became silent. It looks familiar and I have a hint who he is. It's **Jack Walten**! What is he doing in the video? It was really creepy seeing the photo and what's disturbing was Bon's eyes were hollow! Bon's friends came and the narrator explained that Bon spent all of his money for a really funny movie but the audio muffled and showed on screen, again, **Jack Walten**'s black and white photo. The four friends watched the movie prepared by Bon and the screen started to play with a message on it that says, " **LET ME OUT OF HERE**", and the screen went black again with an inaudible audio. The friends now settled in for a night and asleep except Bon who then heard noises from the kitchen and started walking in the dark. He found a piece of photo, Jack Walten's photo with captions: ***"MISSING: Jack Walten, LAST SEEN: 06/11/1974".*** Jack's face in the photo was glitching while an eerie audio played in the background. Bon found a lighter, he was trying to light it. On his third attempt another character was standing and holding a lighter with a caption, "Ugh, stay!'' The video switched to a real life video of a man in a car finding his way into a deep forest. The time in the video is 12:44 am dated 10/10/1982. The man driving is talking and he said that he is the new caretaker of the **Bunny Smiles Facility**. He then explained why he is recording his way through the facility, according to him it is a sort of requirement of archive for the work history. He had been driving for 20 minutes to find the location in the forest. He made it to the location and mentioned a name, **Chris**. **Chris** told him that the facility wasn't working for some time. He entered into the facility and was greeted by a foul smell and found a mascot of Bon. It is a human like figure and he checked the diagnostics. The mouth started to move and everything is dark. His voice is echoing and the surrounding is eerie and creepy! He tested the right arm, and it started to move an then he checked the left arm. The next image flashed on the screen is Bon with a hollow eye and it looks bad, then an eye inside showed up and a gushing blood flowed from it. The man is panting and running away from the facility. In the darkness a pair of glowing eyes can be seen and Bon appears. A hollow face image and a grotesque face of Bon with the words, " i can't feel anything, he thought i was her", is on the screen giving me a chill and scared me. A black screen and then an image of what seemed to be an ID. The name on the ID is Brian Stells a Facility caretaker. https://youtu.be/i2PqTT9wl9M *To answer the question above, Bon attacked the head engineer of the animatronics, Susan Woodings. Yes, that's right. A robotic thing had killed a woman while she was fixing or after the fix.* **Note: The story is inspired by Five Night's at Freddy's.** **credits to** **Loey Lane Channel** https://youtube.com/user/LoeyLane **Lead** **image** **from**: https://the-walten-files-new.fandom.com/wiki/Bon%27s_Burgers **Martin Walls Channel** https://youtube.com/c/MartinWalls
