Patiently Waiting for the Light

It's been almost two months already since the super typhoon Odette hit our place. It happened last year on December 16 and we can't still believe that it all happened unexpectedly. We can't forget how the typhoon brought trauma to each of us who were affected by it. We can still remember how it happened. The sound of the strong wind and the heavy rain seems not to stop anymore. The place became dark because of a blackout caused by the said typhoon.

Every time we encounter a wind even if it is just a light wind, our heartbeats so fast. We can reminisce about the happenings during the typhoon. Trauma is true. In fact, we are scared that it will happen again. Praying that it will not.🙏

It's been more than a month since our place experienced a blackout. Our surroundings are dark. We need to light up a candle, a solar light, a man-made lamp, and anything that create light as long as it gives enough light that we can see the things we look for.

Also, we need to buy kerosene gas for our simple lamp to give light to in our house. But sad to say, kerosene gas is also has a high cost of price. It's very pricey. That's why need to save it. We need to use just a little amount so that it will last for the next couple of days. But still, it will run out of gas. We need to buy another again.

The sad part about that is that our money also will be run out of savings. It will also deficit our budget. When it comes to candles also, the regular candlelight will just take one time only. And it cost much too. We need to buy again. When it comes to solar light also, the weather sometimes is not that hot that will satisfy the solar panel to charge. It will take an hour of use. When it comes to chargeable light also, we need to pay for the charge that uses a gasoline generator only. And we need to pay for 20php.

What's hurt is that our wallet is not full of money that we need to spend on the expenses to the things that needed light. Our money does not produce more money. The truth is we badly need money because of the expenses. But what can we do, we only need to wait for the electrician or the heroes of light to come to our place to fix everything regarding electricity.

Until now, it's so sad to share with you that until now we need to pay for everything that gives us light such as lamps, solar light, and more. Until now we don't still have electricity. We are still struggling every night. We used a portable fan or a man-made fan for us to ease the hotness especially since my baby can't sleep without an electric fan. So we prolong our patience to do so to give her good bedtime.

How I wish the light will be back to normal again here in our place. We missed the light so much. We missed watching tv, playing random music, and even using it for everything because almost everything we do we need electricity. Our stuffs are made up of electricity. We also missed charging our mobile phones via electricity. I am afraid that my new phone will easily damage especially the battery. How I wish it would not happen.

We are insecure now because some barangays of our hometown has already electricity. They were done struggling darkness every night. They can watch tv anytime. They charge their phones through electricity again. They can play music as long as they want. Hays. (Sana all) we don't have anything to do but patiently wait for our time. For our schedule to fix the electric wirings here in our place. We just need to wait they said. Of course, what can we do but wait.

As of yesterday, we saw the linemen are already in our nearby barangay. They did that they are closer to our barangay. With that, our hope was boosted upon seeing them fixing nearby. We said to them that, please make it faster. We can't wait. We are excited. Lol. They just smile anyway. Lol.

Closing thought:

The light I am trying to say is the light came from the electricity because until now we still don't have. However, we are waiting patiently when will it will be lit up again here in our place.

To be honest, we are used to it since it's been more than a month since we don't have it. I can remember the old good days when we don't have electricity at all.

Thank you for reading. Have a blessed Sunday to all of us. God bless and shalom!
