And that money came and went because of very bad luck is told by this story.

Between 2011 and 2012, Clifton Collins bought 6,000 bitcoins.

At that time, the price of cryptocurrency varied between 4 and 6 dollars. However, Collins, who is 49 years old, will not be able to enjoy the benefits of his wealth because the owner of the apartment where he lived accidentally threw a piece of paper with codes on it.As he lived as a tenant, the owner sent many of his belongings to the local landfill during the cleaning of his room. One of them was the case of a fishing rod, in which there was a piece of paper on which bitcoin codes worth 53.6 million euros (58 million dollars) were written.Cryptocurrencies are bought through so-called crypto wallets. Once you buy bitcoin, the crypto wallet assigns you the code you need to access. Anyone who gets that code can access and potentially steal cryptocurrency, so customers are usually encouraged to hide their codes somewhere safe.During 2017, Collins split his 6,000 bitcoins into 12 accounts, to protect himself from losing his crypto wealth. He printed the codes on paper, and inserted them into the said fishing holster.

Collins is not the only one who has lost wealth in cryptocurrency in the last few years. A man in Great Britain accidentally threw a hard drive, on which codes worth 127 million dollars were stored.

Gerald Cotten, the owner of the Canadian cryptocurrency exchange office, died in December 2018, leaving behind 190 million dollars of cryptocurrency, for which only he had a password.
