Do you think I gave the right advice?

“Unfortunately, the clock is ticking, the hours are going by. The past increases, the future recedes. Possibilities decreasing, regrets mounting.”

Haruki Murakami

Last Saturday, I took my chair outside for fresh air and to continue working on my phone when a lady sitting beside me asked me for my opinion on an issue she wanted my advice on because such an experience happened to one of her friends who is a guy. Let me put it the way she narrated the story;

A friend of mine needs advice on what to venture into as he has gone from a balling guy to being broke (For the sake of those who do not understand what balling means, this is when someone has a lot of money and starts spending lavishly by celebrating himself or herself and living a luxurious life).

My friend was a scammer who has illegally scammed people of their money for months. He was warned of such acts but he never listened. He was the type that would reject a job opportunity because to him, the pay is small since he earns more than that in a day. After several months of duping people of their hard-earned money, and being smart enough to save part of it, he decided to start up a business and stop the act permanently. Not long, he had an accident that cost him to spend all his money on his injury and was left with nothing.

He had already bought land for his business before the accident and now, he is back to being broke as he has nothing again. He is now someone who is begging people to give him a job. Jobs he has been introduced to before but he rejected and now, he needs money.

This lady was now asking me what he should do in such a situation. I sighed and smiled, trying to understand the story and I started.

First things first, the guy earned that money through illegal means and it is impossible to make a success from such means. Being involved in an accident and spending all the money he had acquired through bad means is possible to happen. Even if he does not have an accident and succeeded in bringing his business to the limelight, the business will surely crumble because he didn't work for it but went through making people cry for their money.

No one who acquired wealth through dubious means will achieve success with it because it wasn't your effort but people's hard work to get the money.

Some people think they are smart, whereas, the future is looking at them and when nemesis or karma comes, they will realize what they have done which is bad. I told the lady that the way he could bounce back is to either sell the land and give the money to the poor or donate it to the orphanage home. Find a job to do and start saving for his business if truly he wants to establish one.

His problem now is going to meet those he had once turned down and looked down upon as he would be disgraced. Someone who has and was balling before suddenly become broke because his hands were not clean from the beginning.

He has no choice because when they were telling and cautioning him, he didn't listen.

One thing about this life is that tomorrow will always be a mystery because we don't know what may happen. If he had seen the future that he would involve in an accident which would take everything away from him, perhaps he could have given it a thought and gone the right way believing that with his diligent act, he will successfully own his own business.

The problem with such kind of people is a lack of patience. They want a quick result without going through the steps or processes involved in it. I hope this story will teach others a lesson and if they aren't willing to learn from his experience, sooner or later, they will realize that it is not all that glitters is gold.

Thanks for your time.

To me you did a great job advising her genuinely... getting a good job and working hard for it makes him more responsible. Karma always visit those who did wrong.

Karma will always visit, no matter what. He just has to find a good job and work hard for now. Thank you.

Exactly, there's no way he can make good business from his ill-gotten money. Karma is teaching him a lesson the hard way and he must be repentant and make amends from his mistakes.

He must surely make amends. No one can outsmart Karma.

You did your part as a friend, it's up to him if he will not listen to you. In his situation right now was already karma on all the things he messed up.

He messed up big time and he is reaping from what he has sown in the past. I hope he listens and goes the right way.

the business will surely crumble because he didn't work for it but went through making people cry for their money. people usually say this but I don't believe in it..I believe once you have changed and given your life to Christ it will last

It won´t last. God doesn´t work that way. He got the money in the wrong way and God´s hand is not in such a thing. The only thing he could do once he gives his life to Christ is to dash the money out to poor people or orphanage homes and start afresh.

Hmmm. Well, let's just say he deserve what he got, maybe. I'm no judge but earning money in a dishonest way will always back fire, if not present but in the future.

It will surely backfire which has happened to him.

People can have lots of ways to get money illegal and black means, however it won't last for long.

It can never last, my friend.

Good for him. He now knows how losing money feels like. Scamming people all around because you want to be rich will bring a person down.

It will bring the person down oo

This is a nice and clear signal of what these people are set to suffer. Although some of them think because it's not happening frequently or has not happened to them, that means they won't crumble one day. That's a big lie! it'll surely happen one day and "had I known" will set in.

Well, the advice and clear and simple, he should leave that scamming zone

No one can go scot-free in things like this. If it doesn´t happen instantly, it will surely happen one day. He should leave the scamming zone if he truly wants to make it.

It was karma..unfortunately.. If you get your money in a bad way, it will be gone too fast.. It will be a lesson to learn for him. I hope, he would learn this time and listen to other people's advice..and just be good

I hope so too. He messed up big time and he never knew things would go this way for him.

His money was spent on his injury and he was left with no money, because he got it through wrong means. You said accurate words to her.

You did your job by honest advise and let her taste the compromise over impatience. She must realise its own worth .

Yes, he lacked the patience to achieve what he could have been enjoying now.
