Target is talking about offering a minimum starting wage of up to $24 an hour in their most competetive markets. Their current starting wage is already $15 an hour. I have no problem with this so long as they can justify it with their bottom line. Hell, this might be the place to semi-retire when I decide to do it.

@Porwest

My co-worker told me today, "I thought we were friends." I shook my head no, and then proceeded to tell him that if he was in a burning building I would go in. He became excited and elated. And then I went on to say, "I'd go in with a can of gasoline to make sure the fire was hotter." 🤣🤣🤣

@Porwest

Breaded Pork Steaks, Folks! Should an article be wasted on food? Well, I guess we all have to eat, right, and food is such a highlight of most of the things we do. I mean, think about it. You have a family gathering and what's the first thing that anyone thinks about? ***What are we going to eat?*** So, lacking in anything else to write about tonight I thought I would just share what's for dinner tonight for whatever that is worth. I told you I really love pork steaks,…

@Porwest

No warehouse guy on Monday. He came in yesterday. This morning he is not here. I have not heard the story yet, so I am awaiting that. Looks like I will probably soon have to be reevaluating the situation, the response, and what action is being taken in case we wind up without a warehouse guy again soon. Not doing this a 4th time and I have made this very clear.

@Porwest

No matter what country you live in the word, elections are probably one of the most important things we can have—they must always be the voice of the people, powered by the people, and kept true to the people. When things look wrong, even if they are not, I think one of the best ways to protect the integrity of fair elections is to ask questions and never be too trusting of the system, nor let your guard down.…

@Porwest

As I continue along on freebitcoin I am wondering if anyone here has ever won anything significant on the hourly roll, the WOF, the lottery, or any of the other areas of that site? Just curious.

@Porwest

Still buying Shiba Inu. Gosh, am I totally stupid or genius? I have not quite figured that out just yet but I suppose I will find out the answer soon enough. It's not like I am betting the farm of course. Easy come, easy go?

@Porwest

Did anyone hear that Colorado was accepting cryptocurrency for people to pay their taxes with? I would not call it a major development, but I do find it at least interesting.

@Porwest

One would have thought that the baker who invented the doughnut would never have become the success that he had... I mean, after all...his idea was full of holes. 🤣🤣🤣

@Porwest

Friday night and it is Chinese food delivery night. I mean, it costs us a bit because we always go a bit overboard. But it is worth every single penny and is just good eats, and we work hard for our money... So why not just have what we want every once in a while, right? https://www.mylot.com/post/3499749/chinese-again-03-04-22

@Porwest

Covid was a real thing. I will never deny that. People got sick. People died. But a couple of things stick in my mind about the whole thing. It wasn't actually all that deadly. Think about it. To this day the death toll for Covid is 0.07% of the entire world population. That means 99.93% of the world never died. By comparison the Spanish flu killed off 10% of the world population. If Covid were the Spanish flu, we'd have 800 million people dead today. As of today less than 6…

@Porwest

Had some fun playing around with my guitar and my Spark amp and app, which is a lot of fun by the way. But it was just fun and nothing more, and while I did record some stuff it all went into the "garbage bin." That's actually how most of it goes until you find something you like it and keep it and develop it into a song, for whatever that is worth. The best of my stuff is just the better garbage, really. lol But it's my garbage, and I get to share it, and some people…

In the U.S. Gas Prices Not All To-Do With Russia-Ukraine In the United States gas prices are quickly rising at the pump, causing many Americans to have to rethink their budgets, especially in terms of discretionary spending that will now have to go to filling their tanks instead. This comes especially hard at many businesses who have been enjoying at least *some* resurgence in customers post Covid shutdowns like restaurants, bars and other retailers. The hotel industry and…

Every time I do surveys I am reminded why I don't like surveys. Even the ones you do actually qualify for half way through you don't qualify for anymore. What a rip!

@Porwest

Did you know that when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, their day was about a half an hour shorter than ours since the Earth actually rotated faster than it does now? Science is always quite an amazing thing.

@Porwest

Why Aren't You Listening? I have to admit that there are many days as I talk about money to people that I want to raise my arms into the air and yell, "Why aren't you listening?" Maybe I am not Jeff Bezos rich or even tens of millions of dollars rich, but over the years I have done well enough for myself that I usually walk away from the failed conversation with at least some idea that I probably know at least *something* about what I am talking about. I always get the…

@Porwest

The first step to building wealth requires one main thing. To listen. To be open to new concepts and ideas, and to change the way you think about money and wealth creation. If you are not willing to listen, if you think your mind is made up about money and how people get rich... You will never be rich. https://read.cash/@Porwest/why-arent-you-listening-ec3a7ecb

@Porwest

Lots of hype over the Amazon 20 to 1 stock split announcement, as is almost always the case with certain stock split announcements. Granted, sometimes a stock will see a surge in price per share initially when a stock split occurs. But it eventually returns to its true value once the excitement wears off. Keep in mind that a stock split does not change how much the stock is worth. When the stock split occurs all you have are more shares. Not more money. The value of the…

I Am Still Long Rivian Despite certain hiccups that have caused shares of the electric vehicle maker Rivian to dive 60% from its blockbuster IPO back in November of last year, I still believe that there is long-term value in the company. It's essentially a start-up, and as such it is expected to experience a few stumbles along the way. Really the question here becomes how well can they deal with the stumbles and remain on track to deliver on their promises and the vision…

@Porwest

Of course after I wrote this article this morning Rivian stock would tank in after hours trading due to them reporting that the 150,000 vehicles by 2023 would actually only be 25,000. That is not good news, even for one like me who is still long on Rivian. I am not happy with the news. But I also still believe in the company and believe in that time honored thought of "slow and steady wins the race." Hey, at least they were honest about their ability to fulfill orders. I can…

@Porwest

The one thing that always interests me are the places in the world where a site like this and read can actually change lives. What's a small amount of money to people in the Western world is life changing money to people in other parts of the world. Venezuela included. It is always fun to read what people are doing with their crypto and what impact it is making in their lives. https://read.cash/@rebeysa85/the-advantages-i-see-in-bch-ae2af6b6

@Porwest

Did you know that if a worker spends 10 minutes a day on the crapper at work, he will have crapped the equivalent of one week's worth of paid vacation in a year? Now you know. 🤣

@Porwest

Hey folks. It's the weekend. Enjoy it. And use the freedom from work it provides to make better plans throughout the weekdays, and offer inspiration to make your weekends a 7-day a week thing. Onward and upward.

@Porwest

I think I mentioned that recently I bought a Spark amp which has an app with it, that beyond just tones galore, also has backing tracks with it that are fun to mess around with a bit. I was playing around a bit this morning and of course, as is my nature, I'd thought I'd share just an old guy having fun with a new toy and his guitar. I will provide links to ear plugs...actually now that I think about it, I should put up Amazon links to them in my video. That would be kind of…

@Porwest

I took Thursday and Friday off this week. I am here at the office this fine Monday, and will be here in this fine office until end of day Wednesday. You will see me. I will be here. Yep. Right here in my office where I am supposed to be. But trust me, I am only HERE. I have already left the office mentally. lol

@Porwest

When you have crunchy fish filets leftover you make fish sandwiches on toasted ciabatta bread with tartar sauce, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce. That is what I intend on making for dinner tonight. Just have to figure out what I want to do for sides. This should be yummy. ***Image is mine, originally used in my MyLot post: https://www.mylot.com/post/3500744/crunchy-fish-filets-03-11-22 ***Side note: These are before they went into the oven to cook.

@Porwest

Just Keep Moving Forward Over the past year and a half it is true that I have made some significant adjustments to my exposure to the stock market. But largely, my philosophy and my strategy have not changed. Repositioning or reevaluating is not the same thing as changing one's strategy. My thinking around making this decision largely stems from my belief that the stock market has simply been on a very long bull run, and while the fundamentals still mostly support current…

@Porwest

A while back I did some repositioning of my stock market portfolio, but it was never a change in strategy. To my mind the stock market is always ultimately up even if it has short term dips, corrections and crashes. I share a bit of my thoughts on the matter in a new article on read if you care to have a read. https://read.cash/@Porwest/just-keep-moving-forward-cf9dd4a4 ***Image is mine and has nothing to do with my post or my article. I just thought it was a cute picture of…

5 o'clock. Just GET here already. I'm done. DONE I tell you! You confounding last day of my week before a two day vacation to extend my weekend to 4. Get out of my damn way you miserable thing.

Real or Fake? A $1 Mystery A few years ago I recall getting a strange $1 bill back in change. It was odd enough that I kept it, only to pull it out from time to time. So far as I was aware it was just a bill from 1969 that someone had altered a bit—it appears that the portrait of the usual George Washington was replaced partially with an image of former president Richard Nixon, who was the president of the United States from 1969 until he resigned in 1973. I only pulled it…

@Porwest

Everyone loves a good mystery from time to time, and I believe I hold one in my hands. A potentially counterfeit $1 bill with a hidden message behind its printing. I am not sure where the bill came from, but it is a really interesting thing to me nonetheless. https://read.cash/@Porwest/real-or-fake-a-1-mystery-92d5283c ***Image is mine, from the lead image of the article on read***

@Porwest

Recording music is a lot of fun, even if I know that what I would produce will never make a rich rockstar or anything like that. The fun is that what I do put together, aside from covers of course, is my own stuff and my style is all my own. I was able to spend quite a bit of time yesterday putting the pieces together on a new song which is more the purpose of tweaking recording, mixing, and mastering skills using some new techniques I have learned. Even if one has been…

@Porwest

A song that was a lot of fun to write, play, and record and probably very heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix, although I will make NO comparison whatsoever to my chops or ability to such an iconic rock guitar legend. Part of my Pink Flamingoes album which was released in 2016 for whatever it is worth. "Slide" If you have Spotify give it a spin here: https://open.spotify.com/track/1upVNG87LNy0atnmHIXVtl?si=bf3ee803d3fc43c9 Or on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/Y_cErNxY58k

@Porwest

Tonight's dinner is a delightful, simple one. Manwich loaded baked potatoes. They are so good. You put the baked potato on the bottom, then add some hamburger meat cooked with Manwich sauce on them, add some lettuce (we don't always do this), onions, red peppers, shredded cheese, bacon bits and sour cream. Voila! They are just what the doctor ordered. Good eats for sure. What's going on your plate tonight?

@Porwest

One of the more boring covers I have ever done. It just never had that critical drum moment, and was too slow throughout. Nonetheless, I never strive for perfection. I just have fun and have as much fun sharing it, for whatever it is worth. My version of "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins. As I always say, this is not karaoke. I did all the musical parts including my sad attempt at singing. Recorded February of 2017.…

@Porwest

Tonight it is Friday night and I have decided to have Chinese food delivered. Going to get the usual fare. Spring rolls, shrimp fried rice, entrees with pork fried rice and General Tso's chicken that comes with egg rolls. My dish is pork fried rice with beef broccoli and egg rolls. I will probably get the scallops too which are really good. Either way, with tip it will probably cost us about $60 but it all more than worth it. Got a quart of shrimp lo mein too. Yummy. YOLO…

@Porwest

There are days around here when I swear I could post a picture of a pile of poop and someone would respond to me with, "Wow so lovely amazing and beautiful post." I understand if there is a language barrier. But come on people. I can't tip that stuff! 🤣

@Porwest

People make fun of me all the time for saving my aluminum cans and turning them in for money. But today they were offering me $1 per pound and I walked away with $200 for cans. I would call that a win. Make fun all you want. I am laughing all the way to the bank.

@Porwest

Great idea, Mr. Biden. Tax the rich and the corporations more under his new budget proposal when inflation is at the highest levels it has been since the 1980s. How many times do I have to say it? You can tax the rich and the businesses all you want. WE pay for every penny of it. The reality is that businesses do not PAY the taxes. They only collect them. Taxes are a cost of doing business just like any other cost of doing business. This will fall into the consumer's laps to…

@Porwest

Tonight for dinner are some homemade chicken nuggets. I made a mixture of bread crumbs, onion powder, garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, pepper, and shredded cheese. Then I cracked a couple of eggs and dredged the chicken through that and mixed them up with the breading mixture. I set the oven for 375 degrees and will cook them for about 45 minutes to an hour. I will have these with some mac and cheese and some veggies and they should be pretty good. We shall see. A nice and…

@Porwest

The fact that I have nothing to say, I find, is reason enough to simply post that I have nothing to say. Even though technically by saying I have nothing to say I have, in effect, actually said something. I do not know the reason I currently have nothing to say, but having said THAT as soon as I DO have something to say, I will be sure to make a more meaningful post here. Enough NOT said.

@Porwest

It never ceases to amaze me how easily some people are willing to throw good food away. Not in my house, as I like to say. My wife's work bought lunch and they were going to throw away this leftover salad and Spanish rice. No way. My wife knows better. She brought it home. Believe me, without a doubt, we will make good use of all of this, starting with a chicken salad for supper tonight. I already incorporated some of the rice into some lunches and some of it will be made…

@Porwest

The one thing about getting older you start to notice is that you used to get up in the morning feeling refreshed and rearing to go. Now it takes a half an hour to 45 minutes just to limber up and feel slightly normal. lol

@Porwest

It is not often that I will tend to applaud Hollywood. For all of its woke antics and deeply misguided political banter, it is just a huge turn off for me. However, as the list of defenders of Chris Rock grows over being slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars for simply telling a joke, I think in this case they are getting it right. As David Spade put it, "Comedians do not have medical charts for the entire audience." And Rock has stated he was not aware of Smith's wife's…

@Porwest

Recently I ordered a crap ton of Chinese food, which is pretty much the norm for me when I do this. Hey, I love Chinese food. Feel free to sue me. https://www.mylot.com/post/3502653/here-we-go-again-03-25-22 One of the things I always get but do not eat right away is shrimp fried rice. I always like to make something more out of it. In this case I am going to use Kielbasa, onions, and green pepper. Plus, I made a jar of sweet and sour sauce from the millions of packets of…
