It is not often that I will tend to applaud Hollywood. For all of its woke antics and deeply misguided political banter, it is just a huge turn off for me. However, as the list of defenders of Chris Rock grows over being slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars for simply telling a joke, I think in this case they are getting it right. As David Spade put it, "Comedians do not have medical charts for the entire audience." And Rock has stated he was not aware of Smith's wife's medical condition. Among Hollywood 'elites' and others siding with Chris Rock are Jim Carrey, Alec Baldwin, Stephen Colbert, Rob Reiner, Adam Sandler, Mia Farrow, Judd Apatow and Stephen Curry, among others. What do I think of the joke? Let me put it this way. MANY, many jokes are targeted toward a person and their shortcomings. And I suppose whether or not someone takes offense of the joke depends on whether or not the person likes or dislikes the person being joked about, or has some other personal reason to be offended. As for Jada Pinkett Smith's medical condition? I say so what. MANY people suffer from balding. MANY people make fun of it. Get over it. Even Will Smith joked about someone's bald head on a late night talk show saying, "Everyone has duties in the morning. Like your bass player over there who has to wax that shiny head of his."

Smith really got offended but if it's true that Rock doesn't know the condition of his wife and not targeted that on his joke it's okay. I read some statement that Smith don't get in to jail/case because of slapping
Even still, the joke was not even offensive. People have been making fun of balding for many years. What makes Will Smith's wife special?
In this scenario I give Will some empathy, maybe because he saw how his wife suffered from that illness that people didn't see outside that triggered his reaction. See how painful it is for that couple to bear such conditions. Chris then didn't know why she has no hair, the reason why he threw the unintentional hurful joke.
I watched the slap on YouTube I am a person who does not like violence and childish reactions but I really felt it was worth it. Sometimes the joke that is said even unintentionally that affects one of our shortcomings or our disease is hurtful, so I excused this husband and respected him because he defended his wife. Perhaps his method was rude, but I felt that he deserved respect.

I think it was all staged to bring up the ratings they are way down and actors will act. I could be wrong but that’s the feeling I got.
It could be and could not be. I am still on the fence.
