As soon as the sun sets over the horizon, only cats can cope in the pitch darkness between the houses built of mud because there is no street lighting ...

Al Hamra is a destination that over the years is increasingly on the list of many lovers of unusual travel and one of the oldest in Oman. It has stood at the foot of the mountain for about 400 years and is built of mud. Most of the houses are abandoned and dilapidated, and walking through the narrow streets during the night is a special experience.

It could be said, and a test of courage for those who are afraid of the dark. As soon as the sun sets over the horizon, only cats can cope in pitch darkness because there is no street lighting.

One of the favorite activities of tourists is climbing on the roofs and enjoying the view, ie photographing a somewhat supernatural landscape. If you decide to travel to Al Hamr, you can look for accommodation in Bait Aljabala, which is closest to the experience of sleeping in typical mud houses.

Although the accommodation is modest - with mattresses on the floors, visitors praise the service. Breakfast is included in the price, and is reportedly extremely tasty and a good opportunity to explore exotic cuisines.

Al Hamra is also known as Hamra Al Abryeen, and the name refers to the tribe of Al Abri, who lived there. Do not miss the nearby village of Misfat Al Abriyeen, it is considered one of the most beautiful in the country. The cottages at the top of the mountain are located at an altitude of about 1000 meters and are a must stop for travelers who enjoy hiking in nature.

Great idea for tourists. I could sleep in a mud house, but honestly, I shouldn't walk there at night, because I don't see anything in the dark.

What does it matter if there is no lighting, which would make me afraid to walk through that village.
