Rest day on Sunday? Nah...
Last night, I told myself that I am not going to write anything today. That I would spend the entire day resting. That is why I slept very late last night because I intended to wake up late since it was Sunday. However, things happened the opposite way. This morning, I was awakened by the loud sounds coming from the vehicles that were roaming around our barangay. They were playing the campaign jingles of their candidate in the coming election. The local campaign period started on March 25th, and so they have already started woeing every voter that they could get. Different tactics just to get every voter on their side. I even saw people distributing coffee and bread this morning when we went to the market.
Well, since I was already up, I prepared our breakfast, which is garlic rice, sunny-side-up eggs, and hotdogs. My daughter asked for it last night, and because we had so much leftover rice, I decided to cook it before it went bad. After my husband and I had breakfast, I started playing my Pega while checking my noise.cash and read-cash accounts. An hour later, we went to the market to buy our viands.
After we had lunch, I don't know what happened, I was so occupied with random stuff that needed to be done.
I was supposed to have a rest day today. A day of doing nothing, my lazy day. I planned to just eat, watch, and sit, then repeat. When I was still single, every day was a rest day for me, especially when I was a student. Weekends are my days because, aside from the fact that I have a break from school, that is also the time that I get to sleep until noon. My grandma let me. She was very considerate, thinking that I was so stressed out at school that I needed rest. Maybe that was the reason why my Titas and Titos were so annoyed: I was my Lola's favorite. They always call me "tamad" or "lazy." And then they would let me do the dishes from morning till night. We were 25 in the house, so just imagine how many piled-up dishes I needed to wash every time. That's how they would get back at me for being my Lola's favorite.
Those were the days, I suddenly miss my Lola. Rest days have been a myth to me since the time I reached adulthood. Rest day, ano yun, nakakain ba yun? hahaha! Especially now that I have become a wife and a mother. There are no vacation days, no contract expirations, and you can't even resign, lol! So, sana all may rest day on Sunday! Sunday is the day that I am the busiest. Don't ask me, I don't know why either, hehe!
Anyway, that's life, na talaga, especially when you become a mother. Of course, it is my responsibility that they are well fed. Of course, the money comes from my husband. That they are comfortable living in a clean house. Despite the hard work of being a mother, it is very fulfilling when you see that your family is happy and contented.
And that's it! That's how my Sunday went. How about you guys? How's your day?
