Dear friends, today I will tell you the story about one mysterious lake from my country....about a lake with floating earth. Sounds amazing, doesn't it?

"Semeteško lake" is located 200 meters from the National Park Kopaonik. The lake is about 80 meters wide and geologists claim that it was formed millions of years ago. Divers cannot go further than a certain depth, and the legend of its origin freezes the blood.

"Semeteško lake" is a natural phenomenon that is a real rarity in the world. A special wonder of this lake are the floating islands with all the trees and vegetation, which moves the wind, and a ride on the magical floating islands is possible! All you need are oars or anything like that which could make it easier to start these unusual boats.....Because these floating islands really are.

Unusual natural boats that will provide you with an extremely unique and unforgettable experience! Can you imagine ..this lake is like magic!

"Semeteško lake" on the mountain Kopaonik, receives water from two sources that are located above the lake. The locals took care of the flora and fauna on this lake. The rich flora and fauna fit perfectly into the surrounding green landscape, making the lake even more beautiful and interesting.

The lake in the middle has the shape of a funnel, and many divers have come to explore the depths, but they did not dare to dive deeper than ten meters, because they would feel strong currents that would drag them into the depths.

The average water temperature in the lake is around 10 degrees, and in the summer months it climbs to over 20 degrees.

Considering that the divers did not manage to examine the lake, the old people and the locals of this area believe in two legends about the origin of this miracle of nature.

The first legend about the origin of the lakes tells of the priest who ignored the pleas of the locals that do not work the land during the holiday in honor of St. Cyril. As he refused to hear their pleas, the priest was punished and swallowed by the ground. At that place water broke out of the ground and formed the lake.

Another legend tells of fairies who have gathered here once upon a time, but also the eerie voices of a mysterious water monster that frightens passers-by at night. Because of these horrible voices, the locals lock themselves in their houses before dark. However, the locals claim that they have freed themselves from fear and that they are no longer afraid of strange sounds.

Every year, on the second day of August, a festival is organized, which is full of various contents. From a rich cultural and artistic program, jumps into the water, throwing a stone from the shoulder, competitions in playing the flute and accordion with the with traditional dance games...called "Semeteško kolo". Then it's also organized a competition for the most beautiful girl of "Semeteš".

Geologists claim that "Lake Semeteš" has existed for millions of years. Created from glaciers, this mountain lake is a wonder of nature. The unusual floating islands and the age of this wonder of nature are not yet known to the general public. One of the reasons is that this small lake is located behind the slopes of mount Kopaonik, 200 meters from the National Park.

Hidden from the eyes of tourists who visit this mountain, a walking tour to the lake is what is recommended to everyone. This lake is so beautiful but don't forget, it is also dangerous for swimming.

I hear about this lake for the first time, otherwise I have to say that it is beautiful. It is probably an inaccessible lake on the mountain, maybe tourists rarely visit it.

I visited the mountain Kopaonik, but I did not go to the lake. Next time I would love to visit this lake and enjoy the view of the floating islands. Maybe I could take a boat ride. I don’t know how safe it is to walk on floating islands. It would be a real adventure.

This story reminds me of the story of the floating islands in Lake Vlasina. And the reason is the peat on which the island was formed.

The depth of the lake is not known because the lake is funnel-shaped. It is dangerous for swimmers and especially divers.
