Dear Earth,
It was you that I opened my eyes to twenty-two years ago. When my family first heard my cry, they utter the words, " Welcome to the World". But it was only in Grade four that I learned I belong to the Earth. You are my home and God destined me to be here. You are everyone else's home too and you welcomed and accomodated us with hospitality too.
Earth, thank you, for living your purpose. You may have been hurt many times and even struggled a lot but you still there providing us the home that take for granted.
In Grade four, we had a project about solar system, that was when I started to fall in love with you. I bought a ball of styro foam from the supermarket and colored it blue, green and white. I was so happy with my finish product- it was all about rotation and revolution.
I can still remember when I was a kid, we used to swim in the river every weekend. Our parents were never worried because the water was clean and clear back then.
When our parents, would take us to the mountains too, the air is fresh and cold even when it is already 10 in the morning. The sound of birds are relaxing and the cold breeze of air is therapeutic.
Dear Earth, when we visit the piece of land that my mother got, I used to hate the mountains because I can't see anything or anyone to play with. I wanted to go home, watch TV and play with my friends. But today, I realized that those moments need to be savored. That times with nature are gold. They are rare and priceless because as time pass by our environment will never be like before.
I couldn't blame anyone but myself, Earth. I am guilty too for being one of the many people who has put you into that kinds of situation. When I sweep the dried leaves in our frontyard, I light and burned them all.
When I would cook, I used the thin strips of unused slippers or the plastic caps of softdrinks. I burned cellophanes just so I could start a fire for cooking.
Dear Earth, I am guilty too because as a kid, I used to throw empty sachets of chips and junkfoods eveywhere. I also forgot to turn off the lights when they are not needed.
I am guilty too of using plastic containers and cellophanes in shopping goods too. I use multiple plastic bags that are only single-use.
Dear Earth, I'm sorry.
For not participating in an organization which supports in restoring you.
For taking you for granted and for being unparticipative in activities that will benefit you. I'm sorry for adding pain to you. I'm sorry for not being of great help to you these days.
Dear Earth, I know you are hurting.
But I didn't mind you. In fact, I continued to do my old ways and did not bother finding new ways to help you.
Dear Earth, I'm sorry for fantasizing over living in the other planet without taking steps to help you be better. We have no intentions of leaving you. Only looking for possibilities.
Dear Earth, I'm sorry for the pain we all have caused you. I know it would take another natural calamity to think of you and to thank you. But today, I would make a commitment of standing by you.
Earth, rest assured that I will turn into a youth that cares for the environment. In my own little ways and small steps, I would promote and influence others to help restoring you too and at least help you be in good shape.
Earth, this time, sit still and relax because from now on, we got you!
Good morning read- friends! How are you? I am very late again. I was caught up with the new developments these days. With facebook being rebranded as Meta. That's short and powerful. What is your take on this?
Also, facebook has new update! You can now manage your friends easily and you can now incorporate songs in your facebook stories. Everyone of my friends are sharing their entries. What about yours? What are you waiting for? Be quick for tomorrow is the deadline. lol.
Anyway, this is my entry to Prof. @meitanteikudo@meitanteikudo 's recent writing prompt- Dear Earth
If you want to try writing a letter to earth expressing your gratitude and apologies, you can write one and tag Prof also.
Until then! Thank you for reading!
It is never too late to start caring for our Mother Eart, Murakamii.7. 😉 I know you have already learned your lesson from it and just by this article you are already spreading awareness for all of us to also love and care for our environment.
I will try if I can join this prompt. I have written some articles about our environment before.
