It's been raining cats and dogs since Monday afternoon that I miss the weekend already! Last Saturday, our church hosted a Youth Fellowship at Sun Kissed Resort. We had lunch there too and the young people enjoyed the pool and the great weather. My husband and I somehow felt that we didn't enjoy the place that much so we thought we must bring the entire family again for dinner the next day. This meant spending the weekends at the same location.
But first, thanks to my generous sponsors, do check their profiles too guys!
Sun Kissed Resort
Just five minutes away from our home is a new resort called Sun Kissed, it opened its doors to the public last June and it has been featured on different social media platforms, making it trending to the entire town and even the neighboring ones.
My family had gone there already except us because we were in Oslob Cebu when they visited the resort. They went there to celebrate Matti's first birthday, it's ironic that they celebrated it without the birthday celebrant.
The owner of the resort is the same family that owns a shopping center here in our town. Their house is located just outside of the resort so this is such a great spot for their business. This resort is very family-friendly and let me tell you why.
The resort is a combination of rustic meandering and industrial edge with exposed steel, raw and reclaimed timbers, exposed beams, and wooden furniture. At the receiving area are palettes and benches to relax. The parking area is just near the entrance making it very accessible to the guests.
It is required to get our temperatures checked and details such as names, age, and address for contact tracing. There was a phone number too. Also, the resort requires those who are going to swim at the pool to get their reservations before coming. That's why when we went there on Saturday, the resort already have an idea how many people are coming.
Upon going inside the entrance, there's a wide space for dining in. There was wooden furniture again, the tables are all in good distances and they can easily combine these tables for large groups.
What's really nice is the view, there are mountains and tropical coconut trees that are so nice to the eyes. But if you go further to the edge, you'll spot their fishponds too! We will talk about it later in this article.
Pool
Of course, the pool is one of the highlights of the resort. They offer different depths, there's a section for kids and adults and what I like about it is that they designed it with a partition, kids can have their own space but still share the same area with the adults. It is easy to move without going out of the pool.
This by the way an infinity pool. I believe the view would be great as well early morning. I wonder if they offer overnight stay too!
On Saturday, James and Matti had their time in the pool, and on Sunday, my niece and nephew along with my brother also had their swimming time.
Paddle Swan
But what we were after on Sunday was to try their paddle swan. This is a fun activity for the kids so we took advantage of the available time that we had. We arrived at four in the afternoon, ordered food to be served at six in the evening and then we headed down to the fish pond and lake.
There were a few other guests who were at the lake area but they went on their way after so we had the place to ourselves. We were all excited to try the paddle swan and go around the lake.
It costs Php 200 for a 30-minute experience. There's a white swan and one smaller floating swan available. We opted for the white swan as it can accommodate three two adults and three kids.
My father and I went in first together with the three kids. Then my father switched places with my sister-in-law. It was fun at first but then after four rounds, I got a little tired and sweaty already. But what mattered most was that the kids enjoyed it.
There's a snake waterfall at the end of the lake and if getting wet is not an issue, one can go under the waterfall, it is just a small one though but there's a snake at the top so it was an amusing sight for the kids.
Matti was having so much fun too! I like that it's so quiet down there and there were benches surrounding the lake. There are mangroves too which homes a lot of birds. It's a good spot for some wildlife photography, we spotted a beautiful blue-colored bird and one with wide and huge wings which flew away when it noticed James was running after us to take photos.
Fishpond
There are two huge fishponds in the resort. My niece and I went fishing and everything that we catch, was weighed, we only paid for the total amount of the fish caught. But we didn't exert much effort in fishing because there's an abundant number of tilapias around. So in just a few seconds, tilapias would immediately eat the bait and eventually get caught.
I caught around four while my niece got three and my father caught two. I caught the biggest though.
I saw the owner of the resort feeding the tilapias with moringa or malunggay leaves and we were surprised that it took only a few minutes, all the leaves were gone! These tilapias sure love this superfood!
Also, they offer grilled and fried tilapia on their menu so whenever a customer would order, their staff would go fishing and then cook that so it's always fresh! We requested that two of our catches would be grilled.
Other Amenities
I later found out after the fishing experience that there are function halls under the restaurant. These are air-conditioned rooms, spacious enough to hold a few guests.
In fact, there were already events held here like debuts, weddings, and the like. Their social media as well is updated every single day with the faces of their guests.
From the fishpond, there's a staircase going to the restaurant. They also designed the building to have access on both left and right sides. There's a playground on the right side and a Koi fishpond too which I forgot to took photographs of.
I like that they had planted bermudagrasses here. These grasses look healthy so once it covers this area, it would be a safe ground for kids to play, run around, and enjoy.
My senior parents were tired of walking from the fishpond up to the pool area so they took advantage of these outdoor lounges with matching umbrellas. Since the resort is still new, these amenities are also looking great. I hope they will be able to keep them looking good.
My niece and nephew went to the pool while Matti was just happily walking around. It was safe to run as there are bermuda grasses too but still, we have to look after the kids as this area is not wide enough and there were other guests too.
Restaurant and Food
Dinner was served at six in the evening. I was already hungry after all the paddling and fishing that we did. My niece was also telling me she wants to already eat the corn from the pochero so we gathered around this oval-shaped wooden table, said our thanks, and started digging in.
We ordered chicken, pasta, pochero, sisig, pizza, grilled tilapia, and some tropical juices. I must say their food is good and the pricing is also affordable. The fettuccini pasta though was still a little undercooked but it was okay. The all-meat pizza was also good and Matti liked it.
But the best of them was the sisig. We had sisig on Saturday and it was also the first to be consumed and the case was the same on dinner.
I must say, nothing on the table was left! My father brought dessert and it's okay to actually bring food, there's no corkage fee which is a thumbs up for the resort. In fact, if you don't want to order from the restaurant, you get to pay the entrance fee and the pool if you want to go swimming but if you order from the restaurant, the entrance is free!
Night Ambiance
Now after having dinner, we just stayed for another hour so the kids could go swimming again and burn some energy. We enjoyed the night ambiance. While the resort was pretty during the day, it is also romantic at night.
I so love this huge and tall tree which I forgot to ask the name but it gave shade to the area making a sunny day bearable. It also houses the pretty hanging lights.
I forgot to mention that there are huge and beautiful plants all over the place. These plants are not cheap! They were all placed in huge pots and they look very healthy! My mother was very jealous looking at them. Please don't ask for the name as I have no idea.
Also, the chandeliers are quite a view as well. A long exposure shot has to be done so we could get a starburst shot of these lights.
Thirty minutes after seven, we headed home. The kids were all tired, Matti was already a little grumpy as he wants to sleep already. After paying our bill, we headed home.
It was a great family day and I thank Sun Kissed Resort that we can bond again as a family. Although our main reason really was to celebrate in advance the birthday of our sister-in-law who lives in Jagna, my brother said they can't make it so we just pushed through without them.
How did you spend your Sunday guys?
